Played the title role in "King Lear" at the Old Vic Theatre in London in a production directed by Deborah Warner, with Rhys Ifans, Jane Horrocks and Celia Imrie. This was her return to acting after more than 20 years in Parliament. She was nominated for an Olivier Award as best actress in a play.
