Michael Beach is set fir a heavily recurring role in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing, opposite Crystal Reed, Derek Mears, Will Patton, and Jennifer Beals. The weekly series hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros TV and premieres Friday on the DC Universe subscription streaming site.
Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane (Reed) as she investigates what appears to be a deadly swamp-born virus in the small Louisiana town of Marais. After a week-long blitz of Aquaman awesomeness and speculation on when we will see the first trailer, director James Wan has confirmed that it will debut at San Diego Comic-Con. Most fans assumed that would be the place of the big reveal, and it makes sense because Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment like to put on big show there. Here's the announcement from Wan:
Comic-Con will be insane!! This is the new glyph/logo. Freshly smuggled out of Atlantis! (stolen off King Orm’s belt buckle) pic.twitter.com/NLmIXUaXEM

Will you be at Comic-Con for the big reveal in Hall H!? I can't wait to see what this trailer ends up showing off! A lot of fans are cautiously optimistic about this movie, so DC has got to make a great first imression.
An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas.

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly we have our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane a.k.a. Black Manta. As you can see he's working on his suit's helmet, which is straight-out-of-the-comics accurate. If you're familiar with the comics, you know that the helmet blasts red plasma beams from its eyes.
I also included a cover of EW featuring Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Amber Heard as Princess Mera.
When talking about Black Manta, director James Wan says, “He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space."
Manta is not the main villain in the film. King Orm (Patrick Wilson), Aquaman’s ambitious half-brother who governs Atlantis is. But Manta's story arc is expected to play out through future Aquaman films. Wan adds:

The upcoming Apple drama series “Are You Sleeping?” has rounded out its cast, Variety has learned.
In addition to previously announced cast members Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan, Aaron Paul, Ron Cephas Jones, Elizabeth Perkins, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Beach, Tracie Thoms, and Haneefah Wood have all joined the series.
The series is based on the novel of the same name by Kathleen Barber and explores people’s obsession with true-crime stories and the recent boom in podcasts dedicated to probing unsolved and disputed cases. Spencer will play reporter Poppy Parnell, a reporter who looks to uncover the truth behind a decades old questionable murder verdict through her new podcast. Caplan will play twin sisters Josie and Lanie.

Australia’s famous Gold Coast has been playing host to Aquaman for the past few months, and during that time, budding DC fans have largely been kept in the loop thanks to a steady stream of set photos, not to mention those leaked videos showcasing Jason Momoa’s King of the Seven (and his co-stars!) in action.
Behind the lens for this one is James Wan, the esteemed filmmaker and all-around horror maestro who first made a name for himself through micro-budget scarefests in the vein of The Conjuring and Insidious. It didn’t take long before Hollywood executives took notice of Wan’s immense talent, either – Universal appointed him at the helm of Furious 7, which became the first entry in the petrolhead saga to cruise past $1 billion at the global box office.

With great power comes great responsibility, as a wise old man once said, but sometimes you have to call upon those superhuman abilities to put drunk fools back in line.
And that’s exactly what Queen Mera (Amber Heard) can be seen doing on the set of Aquaman. Warner Bros. and James Wan’s DC tentpole continues to lens Down Under, and after Heard herself offered up a behind-the-scenes snap of Mera and Arthur Curry between takes, YouTube user ‘bigfootkam’ has published a video of Mera in action outside The Sunken Galleon. Fast forward to the 1:10 marker and you’ll see a drunken man approach the Queen of Atlantis, only to have his beer explode at the flick of a wrist. Make no mistake, folks, Mera is not to be trifled with.
Following up on his experience helming Furious 7 for Warner Bros., this is James Wan’s first...

The next solo film for Warner Bros. Pictures to be released will be Aquaman in 2018. The film already stars Jason Mamoa as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, Nicole Kidman as his mother Atlanna, William Defoe as Vulko, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm aka Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. The cast would seem complete, but we now have reports from Warner Bros. Pictures via Deadline that there is still yet another name to add to that list.
Michael Beach, who recently appeared in Lionsgate's Patriot Day, CW's The 100 and Fox's series Pitch, is now confirmed for Aquaman. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, Beach will be a character named Jesse Kane, and is part of a group of high-seas hijackers who then has a "fateful" interaction with Mamoa's Aquaman. Third Watch star Michael Beach has been cast as a character named Jesse Kane in Aquaman—at least that’s the official story Warner Bros. is telling, according to Deadline. Kane is reportedly a “high-seas hijacker” who has a “fateful interaction with Aquaman” in James Wan’s film. But, as Deadline points out, speculation has been going around for a while now that Beach could be the dad of villain Black Manta, who is being portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. And Beach has not done much to dissuade that theory’s supporters, posting a cryptic message on Twitter.

If you’ve been keeping up to date with the ever-growing cast list for Aquaman, you’ll know that Michael Beach has been linked with the movie for the last couple of months. First off, he was snapped on set in Australia alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (who’s set to suit up as Black Manta in the film). Later that month, he virtually revealed the role that he could be playing on Twitter. When asked by a fan if he was portraying Black Manta’s father, Beach teasingly replied: “Yes or no… correct!”
Now, Deadline have finally confirmed that Michael Beach is indeed going to be a part of the movie. Intriguingly, the site claims that he’s set to play a character named Jesse Kane, who Deadline describes as “part of a group of high-seas hijackers who has a fateful interaction with Aquaman.”
While the name means nothing in DC lore, the phrasing of “a fateful interaction with Aquaman” could confirm that Beach is playing Black Manta’s father. In the villain’s origin in The New 52 continuity, Black Manta grows to hate Arthur Curry because he accidentally killed his dad. In the comics, the confrontation came about because Manta Sr. had attacked Arthur’s father, Thomas Curry.
If Beach has indeed been brought on board as Black Manta’s old man, it would be a perfect piece of fan-pleasing casting. That’s because the actor previously voiced Devil Ray on the fondly-remembered Justice League Unlimited animated series. The character was very clearly based off Black Manta but they couldn’t use the name due to the rights being tied up in an ultimately unmade Aquaman TV series, which was in the works at the time.
Michael Beach joins a hugely star-studded cast, one led by Jason Momoa and Amber Heard and also featuring Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson, Temuera Morrison and many more. Aquaman swims into cinemas on December 21st, 2018.
