- The Playback All-Time Best Canadian Movie List was voted on by Playback readers, who were invited to submit their five favorite Canadian movies in order of preference. Of the ten movies that made the list, Khanjian had appeared in three of them, including the number one film The Sweet Hereafter (1997).
- Don McKellar, fellow Canadian actor and frequent collaborator with Atom Egoyan, released his directorial debut Last Night (1998) to much critical acclaim. McKellar cast Khanjian, as well as other Egoyan regular Sarah Polley. In another coincidence, David Cronenberg took an acting role in Last Night (1998), and later, along with Egoyan took a cameo role in Barney's Version (2010).
