Diane Delano, the busy character actor who portrayed Officer Barbara Semanski on CBS’ Northern Exposure and the mean science teacher Bobbi Glass on The WB’s Popular, has died. She was 67.
Delano died Friday of cancer in her home in Sherman Oaks, her friend Stepfanie Kramer announced.
“She was big and bold and brought her sharp wit and perfect comic timing to every role,” Kramer said. “Her earthy and raucous presence enabled her to always own the room. She was one of a kind.”
As Rhonda Vasek, Delano had a romantic liaison with Douglas Brackman Jr. (Alan Rachins) in 1987 on the second season of NBC’s L.A. Law, and she guest-starred on such other shows as Falcon Crest, Cop Rock, Step by Step, Third Rock From the Sun, ER, Monk, Six Feet Under, Cold Case, The Bridge, 2 Broke Girls and PEN15.

This time last year, critics were buzzing about the very first scene of "The Secret Circle" pilot.
Charles (Gale Harold) murdered his high school friend Amelia in order to get her daughter, Cassie (Britt Robertson) back to their hometown, where she was needed to complete a circle of magic that would turn deadly more than once over the course of the first season.
We've seen Charles display varying degrees of weakness and strength this year, and now, as tensions in town reach a climactic finish, he'll have to examine his choices and, perhaps, atone for them.
Tonight's Season 1 finale, titled "Family," will force Charles into a potentially deadly decision. The most important relationship in his life, with his daughter Diana (Shelley Hennig), is crumbling. He's learned that she may not be his biological daughter, and she's discovered the truth about Charles' potential for darkness.

CBS' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has enlisted a former Hunter co-star for a defensive role. Stepfanie Kramer, best known as Detective Dee Dee McCall for six seasons on NBC's Hunter, will guest star on the network's long-running procedural, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. Kramer will appear in the April 4 "Split Decisions" installment and play Vivian Brentson, an attorney and caring, concerned mother to Zack, one of three identical triplets -- who each have criminal records -- who grew up independently and were not aware of the others' existence until winning a trip to Las Vegas. Crazy powers, hot grandmas, and -- oh yes -- Chris Zylka. What more could we ask for from the 'Secret Circle' midseason premiere? 2012 is going to be a dark year for Ms. Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson). Not only did she learn about her Balcoin heritage on the Jan. 5 episode of The Secret Circle, but she also summoned some serious dark magic for her most epic spell yet -- and I'm not talking about the choking spell that almost killed Adam (Thomas Dekker.) That one was a no-no. Cassie's history lesson came courtesy of Diana's (Shelley Hennig) super-hot grandma Kate (Stepfanie Kramer) who made a surprise trip to Chance Harbor this week. Right from the start, she was all kinds of suspicious of Dawn's (Natasha Henstridge) motives for dating Charles (Gale Harold) -- and for good reason! (Sidenote: Let's forget Cassie's lineage for a minute and focus on Diana's. Between Gale Harold...

Their stated goal is to uphold the law of the land and put the bad guys behind bars, but every TV fan knows that our favorite small-screen cops, detectives, and agents — as well as their colleagues who semi-officially serve in crime-fighting capacities — have a duty to increase pulses and raise the temperatures of whatever rooms they enter.

With last night’s episode of the latest CW addictive series, The Secret Circle, there was one departure from the show (at least for now) and a new, surprising revelation that viewers probably didn’t see coming. Because there aren't enough hot guys on "The Secret Circle" already, yet another looker is hitting Chance Harbor. We hope the coven is ready for Grey Damon.
Yes, that's his real name.
Damon, who previously starred on "Friday Night Lights" and "The Nine Lives of Chloe King," will first be seen in episode 10 as Lee Labeque. TVLine first reported the news.
Lee is a cocky "grifter" who dabbles in dark magic and has ties to the occult. He has a background in Santeria, a religion with Caribbean origins that is comparable with voo-doo.
In other "Secret Circle" news, we're going to meet more of the older generation of witches -- TV Guide reports that Stepfanie Kramer has been cast as Kate, the mother of Gale Harold's character, Charles Meade. Let's just say there's no love lost between Kate and Dawn.

Prepare to meet the mother, Secret Circle fans.
Stepfanie Kramer - who has not appeared on the small screen since her long-running role on Hunter ended in 2006 - has been cast in a key role, according to TV Guide: she'll appear on at least four episode as Charles' mom!
The Secret Circle Promo: "Masked"
Kate Meade will debut on episode 10 and clash with Natasha Henstridge's Dawn.
No word yet on what brings her to Chance Harbor, but Diana's grandmother is part of the elder generation that stripped Charles and company of their powers. He and Dawn have been working ever since to get them back, of course.
In other Secret Circle casting news, Grey Damon has also landed a potentially recurring role. Look for that actor to also first appear on episode 10. Hmmm....

Hunger (Criterion) Harrowing true story of imprisoned Ira member Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) and his 1981 hunger strike protesting the British government’s refusal to recognize him, and other Ira members as political prisoners. Director Steve McQueen delivers the story with true filmmaking panache, mixing startling imagery that blends both stunning beauty and stomach-churning horror. Fassbender is absolutely brilliant in the lead. Not for the faint-of-heart, but not to be missed or, particularly, ignored. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Interviews with McQueen and Fassbender; Short documentary; 1981 episode of BBC series “Panorama” that covers the Ira hunger strike; Trailer. Widescreen. DTS-hd audio on Blu-ray.
Adam (20th Century Fox) Quirky romantic comedy about an eccentric, borderline Asperger’s Syndrome, astronomy buff (Hugh Dancy) who is drawn out of his self-imposed shell by a beautiful and sympathetic neighbor (Rose Byrne). Charming film with engaging performances by the two leads,...

The Dogwalker

Outrider Pictures
Not to be confused with a more recent film with the same name that was screened at this year's Los Angeles Film Festival, "The Dogwalker" deserves to have the "dog" part all for itself.
Originally shot in 1999 (it kicked around the festival circuit for a couple of years), this self-satisfied, streets-of-L.A. comedy about a glib slacker (Will Stewart) who gets a gig walking an old woman's mutt while her daughter (Stepfanie Kramer) and granddaughter (Nicki Aycox) slobber all over him in the process is rooted in the point-and-shoot school of improvisational filmmaking.
While the approach may have been liberating for writer-director Paul Duran and his cast, it's mighty tedious for the viewer who has to contend with unpleasant characters, hit-and-miss performances and awkwardly staged scenes.
Although it's nice to see old pros like John Randolph, Carol Gustafson and Allan Rich being offered some well-deserved work, it would have been nicer if Duran had bothered to actually write and direct something -- not to mention pick one tone and stick with it -- rather than to apparently wait for inspiration to strike while the camera was rolling. And rolling.
