There’s no Superman in the picture, but some of the core cast of Scrubs recently got together for a little pizza party. It may not be the reunion that fans want, but it’s still pretty cool seeing J.D., Elliot, the Janitor, and more are still close.
In an Instagram post, Chris Miller (Jordan Sullivan) shared the reunion pic along with a caption that read, “Impromptu pizza party with my Scrubs”. Those Scrubs were: series lead Zach Braff (J.D. Dorian), Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid) and John C. McGinley (Janitor). They were also joined by Amanda Kloots, host of The Talk.

Scrubs is one of the best TV shows of the early ’00s!
The funny sitcom, created by Bill Lawrence, aired from October 2001 to March 2010 on NBC and later ABC, centers around the employees at Sacred Heart Hospital, a teaching hospital.
The show was brought back for a ninth season, called Med School, with the setting moved to a medical school, with several of the original show’s regular cast members returning for main or recurring roles.
The series won two Emmys, along with Golden Globe nominations, a Peabody Award and Humanitas Prizes. Along the way, its stars amassed a sizable amount of wealth.
We’ve put together the main cast of Scrubs, and ranked them from lowest to highest estimated net worth.

(Welcome to Animation Celebration, a recurring feature where we explore the limitless possibilities of animation as a medium. In this edition: season 3 of "Clone High" and "Jellystone!")
Animation fans (and fans of good movies regardless of style) have been thrust into an emotional tornado spinning as wildly as the Tasmanian Devil regarding the release of director Dave Green ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows") and writer Samy Burch's ("May December") live-action/animated hybrid Looney Tunes courtroom flick, "Coyote vs. Acme." What should be an absolute no-brainer hit at the box office is at risk of being scrapped for a tax write-off despite positive test screenings, the result of yet another frustrating corporate decision prioritizing capitalism over creativity, and an all-out attack on the art of filmmaking.
Of course, you realize, this means war.
Listen, I don't think I need to tell anyone that despite the animation industry...

Get your therapist on the phone: Shrinking is heading back for Season 2.
It's been a painful wait after a cliffhanger finale, and we can't wait to find out what comes next.
Shrinking Season 1 gave us laughter, tears, and a little bit of murder. Will Season 2 resolve the cliffhangers and somehow manage to top a stellar first year?
With all the heart from Bill Lawrence's Ted Lasso mixed with the often dark, always hilarious talent from Brett Goldstein, Shrinking is everything we could ask for in a series.
This upcoming sophomore season is getting closer, so let's get up to speed.
Who is Returning to the Shrinking Season 2 Cast?
We're hoping to see just about everyone from Shrinking Season 1 when the show returns, but so far, only a handful of actors are confirmed to be in the new season.

Channing Dungey first joined Warner Bros. TV Group as chairman in late 2020 — right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, which made for an interesting first year on the job. Then came the Warner Media-Discovery merger in 2022, and the restructuring that came with it. In 2023, the Hollywood strikes disrupted the business again.
“It’s been a lot of tumult since I’ve been in the role,” Dungey recently reflected to Variety. “I’m hoping — and I’m knocking wood as I say this — that as we round the corner into 2024, we’re behind some of those bigger challenges. I’m sure there will be something new on the horizon, but I’m hopeful that 2024 marks a return to business as usual.”
The entertainment industry remains in flux, of course, with more disruption anticipated this year. But in her own corner of the biz, Dungey said she feels some truly positive momentum.

With Succession now in the rearview mirror, Kieran Culkin is looking ahead to his next project — and even fielding offers on the red carpet.
At the 2024 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, where Culkin took home best actor in a drama series, the star was mid-interview with The Hollywood Reporter when Bill Lawrence — creator of Scrubs, Ted Lasso, and most recently, Shrinking — approached with words of praise.
“You’ve very good on your show,” Lawrence told Culkin, “I’d like you to come and be in a comedy sometime if that’s Ok.”
“I’m not very funny,” Culkin insisted, as Lawrence replied, “I’ve seen you be funny a thousand times. We’ll look each other up on IMDb and we’ll find out if we’re good people or not.”
As Lawrence walked away, Culkin exclaimed, “I think I just got a job. Fuck, I should’ve said that I was hilarious.

What is a TV “comedy” in 2023? In an era of blurred genres, it’s not so cut and dry anymore. Opening Variety’s “A Night in the Writer’s Room,” Variety’s Michael Schneider asked the nine comedy writers on stage to raise their hand if their show features a death. Most did. He followed up by asking, how many of those deaths were murders?
Many kept their hands up high — but holding his hand the highest was “Only Murders in the Building” co-creator John Hoffman “I feel like that’s the beauty of [comedy], that you can kind of do anything … pick a world, be specific about it, be stupid about it, and then you’re good,” Hoffman said of the ability now on television to stretch the definition of comedy.
“It takes a lot of work to subtract comedy from real life,” echoed Boots Riley (“I’m a Virgo”) in...

CAA’s Ted Chervin joined The Hollywood Reporter senior business editor Ashley Cullins on Wednesday for a keynote conversation at THR’s annual Power Business Managers event to discuss the intertwining of Hollywood and the sports world.
Chervin acknowledged that there’s been a breakdown of barriers between sports and entertainment, and even within entertainment itself, because of “a combination of the democratization of information with social media and other ways that people have of accessing both information and opportunities,” as well as the realization that sports is, essentially, entertainment.
The success of Ted Lasso and the resulting increased American interest in soccer was one such example, as Chervin — who counts Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence as his first client — recalled that when trying to sell the show they encountered “a lot of skepticism.”
“Nobody wanted it: Netflix passed, Amazon passed, HBO Max passed, Apple bought it I would say reluctantly.

Disney Entertainment TV is set to reinstate overall deals for creatives that were suspended during the WGA strike as early as Thursday, TheWrap has learned.
In mid-September, the company paused overall and first look deals across its subsidiaries, with Billy Porter, Yara Shahidi, Gina Rodriguez, “This Is Us” alum Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore, “Rebel” executive producer Marc Webb, “The Bear” EP Hiro Murai and FX Productions’ Stacey Sher among those impacted.
While Disney Entertainment TV had paused the deals, the studio planned to continue paying for the deals in order to provide salaries for assistants through the end of 2023, as well as cover salaries for development executives through the first week of October 2023, an individual with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap at the time.

On Wednesday, hours after the Writers Guild of America’s strike officially ended, studio and streaming executives were busy making scores of calls to the writers and producers whose deals were suspended during the five-month walkout.
To that end, sources say Warner Bros. Television is lifting suspensions that were issued to top showrunners including Greg Berlanti, J.J. Abrams and many others, effective Thursday, as some letters are still in the process of being sent out to the rest of the Channing Dungey-led studio’s stable of scribes. Other studios, sources say, have already started to lift their suspensions, with the process expected to continue through early next week.
One key question remains as Hollywood’s TV writers return to work following the second-longest strike in WGA history: namely, if deals are being extended to include the time lost when they were suspended. Sources say many top producers — think Berlanti and...

Apple has become the latest entertainment company to suspend additional overall and first-look deals this month as the WGA strike is getting past the four-and-a-half-month mark.
As has been the case with the other recent suspensions at Disney, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios, impacted are non-writing producers who are not currently rendering services due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. I hear the handful of pacts that are being suspended include those for Natalie Portman’s MountainA, the company she formed with producer Sophie Mas, and Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries. A rep for Apple declined comment.
A number of the streamer’s high-profile deals with non-writing producers are still ongoing as they are working on projects, including Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone, which is behind the upcoming Apple series Masters of the Air. Martin Scorsese, who signed a film and TV deal with...

NBCUniversal’s Universal Studio Group has suspended Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks, along with an unknown number of other film and TV deals, as the ongoing labor clash between the writers guild and Hollywood’s studios and streamers enters its 20th week.

Those who still have active scripted or unscripted projects who agreed to continue to work are not being impacted. Others who have either completed production or were not willing to deliver non-writing services were suspended.

He added that he intends to ask that the contribution go to support staff and below-the-line workers, and implored “other industry workers in a fortunate enough situation to give what they can to these
organizations today.”
In addition to the cumulative $300,000 donated to the funds, Berlanti, through his Greg Berlanti Prods., has started a strike relief fund of an additional $500,000 for support staff and below-the-line workers on...

As Hollywood’s dual strikes stretch into the late days of summer, Greg Berlanti is stepping up to offer financial relief to support staff and below-the-line workers.
Berlanti, who long held the title as Hollywood’s most prolific TV series producer through his Greg Berlanti Prods., is committing $500,000 for a strike relief fund that will benefit those who have worked on his company’s projects. Separately, he is doubling down on $150,000 donations to the Entertainment Community Fund and the Motion Picture & Television Fund, “two amazing organizations I am incredibly proud to be associated with and that represent the best qualities of our business.”
As part of the gift to those organizations, Berlanti has requested the money “be earmarked for support staff and below-the-line workers” as he also issues a call to action to those fortunate enough to give what they can to support the Ecf and MPTF.

The Writers’ Guild of America strike has now started its fourth month, and studios have continued to make arrangements except for the ones that could end the strike and make everyone happy. David Zaslav, the CEO of the legacy film company, stated that the studio stands to lose up to $500 million in 2023 due to the strike. To put that in perspective, the WGA’s deal with Warners would amount to $47 million for the year, which is around the amount for a superstar’s paycheck like Will Smith for one film.

Warner Bros. TV has suspended its overall deals with Bill Lawrence, Mindy Kaling, Greg Berlanti and several other producers amid the historic Hollywood double strike, according to media reports.
J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, John Wells and Chuck Lorre are among the producers who were also impacted by the suspensions, though their deals may have been impacted earlier in the strike.
The news comes nearly four months after studios including Amazon, HBO, Warner Bros. TV, NBCUniversal, Disney, CBS Studios began suspending deals at the onset on the WGA strike in May. That round of suspensions was mostly limited to writers, as producers whose shows were in production could continue on amid the WGA strike before SAG-AFTRA members joined writers on the picket line in mid-July.
Writers who publicly shared their suspension include “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin, who shared in a July blog post that he is “one...

The WGA strike has reached the upper echelon of overall deals at Warner Bros. Television Group.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the studio has suspended a number of overall deals for its top creatives including J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot (Duster), Greg Berlanti (Superman & Lois), Chuck Lorre (Bob Hearts Abishola), Bill Lawrence (Shrinking), John Wells (Maid), Mindy Kaling (Sex Lives of College Girls). Sources say Lorre’s multiyear pact with his decades-long studio was quietly suspended in May, a week into the strike, with Wells’ deal a month later.
Reps for the Channing Dungey-led Wbtvg declined to comment.
The news comes as the Writers Guild of America has entered the fourth month of its strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers over such issues as residuals, AI and streaming transparency.
The move is similar to lower-level writer deals that had been suspended during the first...

Warner Bros. TV has suspended overall deals with more of its A-list, marquee producers, which includes Greg Berlanti, Bill Lawrence, John Wells, Chuck Lorre and Mindy Kaling, as well as J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot shingle.
Some of those names, including Wells and Lorre, had their deals suspended months ago, early on in the Writers Guild of America strike. Others who had shows in various stages of post-production when the work stoppage began May 2 were kept status quo while episodes were completed. The latest news of suspensions comes months after Warner Bros. TV, along with Amazon, HBO, Warner Bros. TV, NBCUniversal, Disney, CBS Studios and other major struck studios already hit pause on some first-look and overall deals amid the ongoing writers strike.
Those suspensions took place in May, soon after the WGA strike began, and didn’t include producers who still had shows in production. This was before SAG-AFTRA also went on strike,...

Updated: More than three months into the writers strike, Warner Bros. Television has moved in to suspend the remaining overall deals with some of its top creators. The list includes Greg Berlanti Productions, Bill Lawrence’s Doozer Productions, and Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International, sources said. I hear the calls were made last night. JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot also is in the process of being notified, sources said. John Wells’ Productions’ pact was suspended in June, I hear. Chuck Lorre Prods.’ deal was suspended in the first wave in May, according to sources.
The development comes exactly three months after Wbtv and other studios started sending out letters to writer-producers under overall and first-look agreements who don’t have series in production or post-production, informing them that their deals are being suspended.
It is understood that at the time, Wbtv did not suspend some of its top talent, especially those who had active projects.
