Jess Maldaner is a Canadian filmmaker with a passion for telling emotionally moving stories that explore our shared human experience, foster understanding, and encourage self-reflection.
He is the producer of the long-running family drama series Heartland (2007) for CBC/eOne - the 13th most streamed series in the US in 2022 with 18 billion minutes viewed. His other producing credits include the hit Canadian comedy series Jann (2019) from EP Andrew Barnsley (Schitt's Creek) for Bell Media/Hulu and the Student Academy Award-nominated short film Drone (2015).
Prior to transitioning into film and television, he worked for global strategy consultancy Oliver Wyman in Toronto, and in corporate acquisitions for Mubadala Investment Company in Abu Dhabi. He has an undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Fine Arts in Film & Television Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
