In Luca Guadagnino’s latest cinematic endeavor, “Challengers,” Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist form a dynamic, throuple-esque trio, each delivering performances that scream Oscar-worthy. The real question is, will Academy voters look beyond the palpable sexual chemistry to acknowledge the film’s artistic merit? That’s a challenge for the marketing maestros.
Penned by newcomer Justin Kuritzkes, the spouse of “Past Lives” writer-director Celine Song, “Challengers” weaves through a 13-year narrative, chronicling the life of Tashi Duncan (Zendaya), a tennis wunderkind-turned-coach, who hatches a plan for her husband Art’s (Faist) comeback. The plan pits him against his ex-buddy and Tashi’s former flame, Patrick (O’Connor), setting the stage for a dramatic unraveling.

Josh Homme hosted an all-star benefit concert in support of his Sweet Stuff Foundation at the Belasco in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Over the course of the evening, he welcomed friends and collaborators to the stage, including Dave Grohl, Beck, St. Vincent, The Kills, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys, Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal, Bill Burr, and more.
Not surprisingly, Grohl provided several highlights. He went head to head against Smith in a drum off, and briefly attempted to sing a duet of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence” with Homme. Later, after joking that he attempted to learn how to play Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Read” to no avail, he instead debuted an entirely new song he wrote about Homme.
Other notable moments included tennis legend John McEnroe briefly trying his hand at covering Beck’s “Fume,” before...

Bleeding on the tennis court is not something you see often, but Adrian Mannarino made it so in a recent meltdown at the 2024 United Cup.
Tennis is a non-contact sport which generally ensures that fans rarely see any blood. From time to time, players might slip and scrape their knees or do something similar, but most of them know how to fall.
Bleeding does happen, though, as we've seen it recently at the Atp Finals. A very frustrated Andrey Rublev cracked open his knee after hitting himself repeatedly with the racket.
We've gotten used to it from Rublev, but now another player did something similar. Mikhail Youzhny patented this outburst years ago when he hit himself in the head with the racquet, and Adrian Mannarino has done the same now.
He's not known as a player who has many demonstrative outbursts, but in recent years, we've seen him show more...

John McEnroe is part of BBC's Wimbledon coverage every year, and his earnings for his work have been made public.
The BBC has broadcast Wimbledon on UK television screens for more than 80 years. That brings an expectation and pressure to have some of the biggest names in the studio and commentary box.
McEnroe, who created headlines a few weeks ago for an argument he had with Travis Scott, certainly fits that category. He won seven Grand Slam titles, and his often fiery on-court outbursts brought much attention to tennis.
The 64-year-old also uses a distinctive style when he is in the commentary box. He combines forthright and honest appraisals of the matches he is watching with a more easygoing and self-deprecating sense of humor compared to his playing career.

Australian Open tournament officials have instituted changes at next year's tournament to address a longstanding scheduling issue.
Last year, several people critiqued the disorganization in scheduling, which led to late-night finishes of tennis matches. Some of those laying their finger at the tournament included former Atp No. 1s, Andy Murray and John McEnroe.
The Briton played the longest match of his career at last year's Melbourne Slam, where he defeated home crowd favorite Thanasi Kokkinakis in a five-set dogfight in the second round that lasted five hours and 45 minutes and finished just minutes shy of the latest finish to a match at the Australian Open.
The clock ticked past 4 am local time when Murray fizzed the winning backhand shot down the line to bring the match to a close. After the match, Murray questioned who benefits from "ridiculously late" finishes to a tennis match.

Boris Becker and Nick Kyrgios have been beefing on social media lately after the Australian commented about former tennis greats, including the German.
Kyrgios is an outspoken individual who doesn't particularly care whether you like that. He's going to tell you what he thinks, and he certainly did in a recent interview with the Athletic when he compared tennis eras.
While tennis stars are generally quite complimentary of past legends, Kyrgios dissed the legacy of Becker and others by implying that they would struggle today.
Obviously, the comments went viral, with some agreeing with him and some disagreeing with him. At face value, the quality of tennis today is probably greater than in the past as simply everything evolved.
There is better equipment, better training, and better nutrition today, so it's natural to assume that today's tennis players are superior to those in the past.
And yet, comparing eras doesn't work.

There is a fresh twist to the ongoing footwear dispute between the famous American rapper Travis Scott and tennis icon John McEnroe.
What began as an online spat has become a full-blown grudge deal that has attracted the world's attention. For context, Travis Scott and John McEnroe collaborated with Nike to recreate the tennis legend's famous collection of Mac Attack sneakers, first released in 1984.
The special edition of McEnroe's signature shoe will be released on December 19th. The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion got into a heated argument with Scott in a Zoom call in the presence of Nike officials over a disagreement on the name of the shoe.
Their confrontation was centered around the name of the sneakers. McEnroe insisted on dropping Scott's nickname and record label, the "Cactus Jack," in favor of "Cactus Mac" as a tribute to his own legacy. The rapper stated, "Cactus Mac was never a thing,...

Former Atp world no. 1, John McEnroe, and popular rapper, Travis Scott, are in the spotlight since a leaked video showed their argument.
As famous people, the two have multiple brand deals and collaborations, and one of them is with footwear and apparel giant Nike. The two even work together on one popular shoe, which the former tennis player wore during his career.
However, a recently leaked video shows that McEnroe and Scott could not agree on the final design of the shoe. The former American tennis player, who made the shoe popular, claimed that the rapper was not showing him enough respect before leaving the meeting, as shown in the leaked video.
Now, a couple days later, McEnroe appeared in a video on Instagram account 'The People Gallery' that seemed to be a pre-agreed collaboration.
In the video, McEnroe is seen wearing the famous Mac Attacks, but with his own custom style.

John McEnroe appears to have ignited the mind games with Andre Agassi ahead of the second edition of the Pickleball Slam that will see the two tennis greats lock horns.
McEnroe and Agassi account for a combined 15 Grand Slams in singles and have each been ranked at No. 1 during their glittering playing careers. They met four times on the Atp Tour, with the head-to-head tied at 2-2. However, their careers didn't quite intertwine.
Just as Agassi rose through the ranks, McEnroe was in the twilight of his career. But their short-lived rivalry will be rekindled in a lucrative one-off pickleball match set to take place on February 4, 2024, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The energetic McEnroe will team up with former Wta No. 1 Maria Sharapova, while Agassi will join forces with his wife and one of the most decorated champions in tennis history, Steffi Graf.

Former Atp No. 1 John McEnroe and his brother Patrick McEnroe are in the East African nation of Tanzania, where they encountered a gravely disturbing incident.

The McEnroe brothers are amongst the most prominent siblings in tennis and have both enjoyed successful playing careers. Both have transitioned to become respected pundits due to their insightful tennis knowledge.
On December 5, the two brothers squared off in a 10-game pro set in front of aspiring young tennis players, government officials, dignitaries, and tourists. But disaster struck when a snake slithered onto the freshly minted court in the middle of roaming wildlife.

Comparisons are all the rage in the 21st century; however, Nick Kyrgios dismisses the comparison made between himself and John McEnroe.
As a player who came in arguing a lot with umpires and throwing tantrums often, Kyrgios obviously got compared to John McEnroe, who was one of the first players on the Atp Tour known as a hothead.
While some similarities are obvious, there are some pretty distinct differences between players. McEnroe had far more success as a tennis player because he took it way more seriously than Kyrgios.
His passion for winning was far greater than that of Kyrgios, who always maintained a lukewarm stance on his tennis career.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter because they are different people and different players. Kyrgios himself dismissed the comparison in a recent interview with Piers Morgan.

It's been less than two years since McEnroe jokingly called pickleball the "worst" sport. In that time span, he has watched it become the fastest-growing sport in the United States. Its acceleration has seen pickleball locations grow by at least 130 new spots every month this year.

"Frasier" had a bevy of guest stars throughout its original eleven-season run, but you might not recognize some of them on first watch. That's because many of the most famous actors to appear on the beloved sitcom did so in voice only, calling into psychologist Frasier Crane's (Kelsey Grammer) Seattle radio show for all manner of life advice. Casting a celebrity who viewers never actually see felt like a new gimmick when the series first premiered, and it's frankly still a rarity now.
In an oral history of the series published by Vanity Fair in 2018, series co-creators Peter Casey and David Lee, casting director Jeff Greenberg, and director Jimmy Burrows talked about how the call-in guest stars idea originated, who showed up on the other end of the line, and which celebrities turned "Frasier" down. "Early on, someone suggested getting guest voices," Casey recalled. "Kelsey agreed, as long as they weren't goofy calls.

The people who brew Michelob Ultra are counting on potential customers to crack open a documentary before they crack open a beer.
In Spring, the Anheuser-Busch InBev brand will launch “Lap of Legends,” a one-hour documentary special that spotlights the journey of Logan Sargeant, the popular American race-car driver. Sargeant will square off against avatars of popular Williams Racing racers from the past, and viewers will see him compete against rivals that use data and AI even as he drives in the physical realm. These “phantom racers” will be created using historical data of the drivers and their original cars.
The film will air via AMC, BBC America and Roku in April. Michelob Ultra is producing the content, and expects the film to be available in 28 countries.

Nick Kyrgios is known for the occasional outburst, so when he calls an outburst crazy, then you know he means it.
Player outbursts are nothing new in tennis, and they're not particularly a 21st-century phenomenon either. We had some pretty big hotheads in the past, like John McEnroe, who might actually be the biggest hothead we ever had in tennis.
Whether it's Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, or Kyrgios, outbursts are common. Andrey Rublev, though has a particular way he likes to do. It's often pretty aggressive, which shows the level of frustration he feels at the moment.
It's not something he's particularly proud of, and he shouldn't. He bled once more as he cracked open his knee in the match against Carlos Alcaraz at the 2023 Atp Finals, which he eventually lost.
He tends to release emotion towards his knee, and it bleeds frequently when it happens. Kyrgios, who...

Andre Agassi was thankful that his tennis career had helped shape him into the person he is today, but he jokingly also mentioned it provided him a platform to "take money away" from John McEnroe.
Through tennis Agassi has endeared himself to many people both on and off the court through his charming personality and outgoing character. He also met his wife, the legendary Wta player Steffi Graf, whom he tied the knot with over two decades ago.
Andre Agassi is considered among the greatest tennis players in history, winning eight Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal during a glittering 20-year playing career. Speaking on the Pat MacAfee Show, the American reflected on his retirement with pride and dignity.
But he quickly changed the tune when he cracked the joke that because of his tennis career, he's now become a pickleball enthusiast and is now looking to "take money away" from John McEnroe.

Novak Djokovic's title-winning week at the Paris Masters earned him a place in the history books as a man for all surfaces.
Djokovic won the Paris Masters for an unprecedented seventh time last Sunday, and a 40th at Masters 1000 level, besting the in-form Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets. He extended his record indoors to 192-48, having won five matches during the week.
That figure translates to a winning percentage of precisely 80% which makes Djokovic one of just six men in the Open Era with a career percentage of 80% or higher indoors, trailing only Bjorn Borg, Roger Federer, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, and indoor king John McEnroe.
But here's the kicker. Djokovic has put together a monumental feat that none of those five men or the rest of the tour (retired or active) have managed. He has an 80% or higher winning record on all recognized surfaces and environments on the Atp Tour - hard,...

Former player John McEnroe called Carlos Alcaraz 'one in a billion' in a recent interview and it does truly look like that.
The Atp Rankings have hundreds of players on them, and while most of them are very good at tennis, only a selected few ever reach the status that Alcaraz has. It simply doesn't happen because being a good tennis player requires a dose of natural talent, a tremendous work ethic, and a bit of luck.
In the same way, most people can't sing as well as Whitney, Etta, and Aretha; most people also can't swing the racquet as well as Carlos, Rafa, Novak, or Roger. It just won't happen, and nobody knows it better than John McEnroe, who is one of those who swung the racquet pretty well.
He looked back on his career in a recent interview, admitting how improbable it is to become as great as he became at tennis.

Of all the records that Novak Djokovic has chalked down, his next one will most certainly stand out for many years to come.
Djokovic begins a 398th week atop the men's rankings (the most of any singles player on either tour) and is also guaranteed to make it 399th next week when he heads to Turin to defend his crown at the Atp Finals.
No player in singles has attained the 400-week mark. The Serbian will need just one round-robin match win to cement his spot as the Atp's World No. 1 for a jaw-dropping 400th week after the Atp Finals.
It will be mathematically impossible for Carlos Alcaraz to stop him should that scenario materialize. With a gap of 2,990 points in the live rankings, Djokovic might not even need to win a match at the Atp Finals should Alcaraz lose one of his round-robin matches.
Either way, this year's race...

Novak Djokovic is a very passionate player who might or might have a few outbursts during a match, and sometimes, he needs to be creative about it.
Outbursts in tennis are common, particularly as this new generation of tennis players are not shy about showing their emotions. It was once considered undesirable to do so, yet nowadays, fans appreciate players who show their emotions.
As someone who showed it often, John McEnroe is one of those who defends it in modern times , calling it abnormal not to show emotions. Quite a few times, that emotion is a passionate outburst when things don't go well, and Djokovic is one of the players that do too.
He's not known as the coolest person in the room, but with code violations on the line, sometimes he needs to get creative about the way he lets his frustration be known, and he talked about...

Former Atp player Jimmy Connors thinks that Nick Kyrgios could be amazing if he only got things under control.
We've seen the best of Nick Kyrgios not long ago. His 2022 season caught everybody by surprise, not because people didn't think he could do it, but more so because it was not what we've gotten used to from him.
We saw a serious approach to both practice and tennis which immediately made all the difference. John McEnroe basically begged Kyrgios for years to finally dedicate himself to tennis believing him to be extraordinary and Kyrgios certainly proved him right.
This year wasn't like that because he struggled with injuries for much of it, and it's unfortunate because many think he could be great if things finally worked out for him. One of those is Jimmy Connors, who is a fan of his talent.

Jimmy Connors spoke about Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios recently, pointing out the differences between the two players.
In the past, we saw one meaningful showdown between Kyrgios and Djokovic as the Serbian bested Kyrgios in the 2022 Wimbledon final. Kyrgios won a set in that match, but he couldn't really do much outside of that, and according to former player Jimmy Connors, it's just a fundamental difference between the players.
Djokovic is known as a hyperfocused individual, and you can see that when he enters 'the zone' during a match. Nothing moves or distracts him, and he's fully invested in the goal. Kyrgios gets easily distracted during a match and it hurts him more than it helps him.
If you’re gonna be the best, you see Novak Djokovic, nothing gets in his way. He doesn’t wanna play basketball, he concentrates and focuses really just on his tennis and winning.

Carlos Alcaraz is on the verge of breaking the Top 20 in the all-time list of highest prize money earners, and he'll be a clear-cut favorite to eclipse most of the sport's greatest players by next year.
Recently, we expounded on how Alcaraz's constant pursuit for greatness and increased player prize money in tennis tournaments year-on-year puts the 20-year-old on the flight path to become the highest prize money in tennis history .
Alcaraz only made his Atp debut at 16 in 2020, just under four years ago, but he's accumulated career prize money in the region of $21 million. Following his surprise exit in the round of 16 at the Shanghai Masters, the World No. 2 moved into 21st position in the all-time list of prize money earners.
In late August, the Murcia native became the first player born in the 2000s to cross the $20 million mark in career prize money. In his short and storied tennis career,...

For the second year in a row, John McEnroe and Team World won the Laver Cup , and the Team Captain was ecstatic.
McEnroe hated losing as a player, and while he's become more relaxed over the years, he wasn't particularly glad about losing the event for the first few years. A win finally came last year; now it's two in a row as Team World bested Team Europe again .
They didn't just beat them; they smashed them properly, as only one match went Europe's way. Casper Ruud delivered the only win for Team Europe in a rather embarrassing loss overall. Not for McEnroe, though; he was thrilled after the match, praising his players.
Well, on behalf of Team World, I am proud of these guys. We brought together a great group of some youth and experience, guys that have been here before. Everybody played well. It was an awesome week.

It was quite the party in the locker room as Team World marked their second Laver Cup success by puffing on celebratory cigars.
The whole playing crew including Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz , Frances Tiafoe , and even Team Captain John McEnroe , who recovered from Covid-19 during the US Open tournament , could be seen with a lit cigar in hand. Young Ben Shelton was also in a celebratory mood smoking.
The celebrations began in the middle of the court after Shelton and Tiafoe sealed a straight-sets win in a doubles match at the start of Day 3. It put the tournament beyond reach for Team Europe. McEnroe's men locked their title with three singles matches to spare.
The 13-2 scoreline in Vancouver, Canada, was the most one-sided in Laver Cup history since Team Europe clinched their fourth crown back in 2021 by a 14-1 score. But tennis fans felt that this year's tournament...

'Dirty, sticky, and a lot fun,' is how Milos Raonic predicted the post-match victory celebrations for Team World, who sealed a second Laver Cup success with a dominant 13-2 win over Team Europe.
The final outcome was inevitable after a rampant opening day saw Team World race to a 4-0 lead. They extended that cushion even further when Taylor Fritz defeated Andrey Rublev in the opening match on Day 2. Casper Ruud briefly kept the series interesting, getting Europe on the board.
But it proved futile as John McEnroe 's men gobbled up the next three matches rendering the remaining singles matches on Day 3 a no-show. It was the second time in six editions that Team World had triumphed over Team Europe and they could finally take the champagne out of the ice.
After the trophy lift in the middle of the court, a proper celebration ensued in the locker room.

Carlos Alcaraz didn't play for Team Europe in this past Laver Cup , but he might in the future, and John McEnroe reacted to that.
It's been two in a row for Johnny Mac as his team bested Team Europe once more . Just like in London last year, McEnroe led his team to victory, though this time around, it proved much easier. Team Europe not having their best players contributed to that, but that might change in the future.
Roger Federer spoke passionately about getting Carlos Alcaraz on board for next year , and that's bad news for Team World. McEnroe talked about the talent of Team Europe, which gave them trouble in years past. He called it a David vs. Goliath matchup.
Obviously in a competition it's about winning. I think we did have a good team spirit for years. It wasn't getting us a whole lot. We were close a couple times,...

Tennis fans braced themselves for a major spectacle at this year's Laver Cup , but Team World's dominant march to the title with three matches to spare left them massively disappointed.
Team Europe had won each of the first four editions of the Laver Cup, but there was a shift in power that began last year when Team World stunned the world to win their first Laver Cup championship against the team with a gaudy lineup including all members of the Big 3.
But the absence of key names in Team Europe's squad for this year's tournament proved telling. Roger Federer retired from professional tennis last autumn. Rafael Nadal is recovering from a serious hip injury, while Novak Djokovic's busy schedule rendered it impossible to feature.
The Big 3 weren't the only absentees. Team Europe couldn't count on the services of Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, who were both recuperating from a physically brutal North American summer.

Roger Federer honored his promise of appearing in Vancouver at this year's Laver Cup in a non-playing role and held a special Q&a on Day 1 to mark one year since his official retirement.
Federer answered some interesting questions during the session chaired by former player Jim Courier on the court. And one of those questions came from his great tennis rival and friend Rafael Nadal who arrived virtually on the giant screen, and who amplified decibel levels of applause. The Spaniard is unable to partake in this year's tournament due to injury.
Nadal cheekily posed a question question to Federer to name his favorite doubles partner. The Swiss legend cracked a smile before he struggled to conceal his laughter. Federer mentioned that his wife Mirka was his favorite doubles partner. Federer once played alongside Mirka (who was his girlfriend) at the 2002 Hopman Cup.

As the person who came up with the concept that eventually became the Laver Cup, Federer looks at the event very fondly. He left a huge mark on the sport, but this event is 'his baby' in a way. After all, his retirement at the event didn't happen by chance.
He could have picked Wimbledon, Basel, or any other Atp event, but he picked the Laver Cup. In any case, the Swiss former player has been present at most Laver Cup editions, whether as a player or an ambassador for the event.
He's also in Vancouver this year, where he spoke about possibly becoming a captain, something that many fans speculated about for a long time. The current captains of the respective teams are Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe.

Step into the world of passionate love and intense rivalry as in the epic love story of tennis legend John McEnroe and rock singer Patty Smyth. Their love story is one for the ages — a meeting of two extraordinary talents from different arenas. Roger Federer is in Vancouver for the 2023 Laver Cup , and while he loves the event and both teams, his heart still beats Blue.
Blue is the colour for Team Europe instead of red, designated for Team World. Federer obviously played for Team Europe until his retirement at the event last year , so it's no wonder that he hopes that Team Europe wins the event.
Last year was the first Laver Cup which Team World won so there is certainly an added motive for the team to do well. Speaking ahead of the event, Federer shared his excitement about being in Vancouver and hoping that Team Europe wins.
I’m very happy and pumped up to be here. It’s going to be short and sweet, three full days, action-packed. I get very excited about Laver Cup doubles, because there are usually teams that we haven’t seen in the past...

Novak Djokovic hit an impressive return winner on match point against Roger Federer in the 2011 US Open semi-final, and it made all the difference.
That semifinal was a really crazy one between Djokovic and Federer because Federer was on the verge of winning the match. He took the first two sets, but Djokovic battled back to force a decider. This was not the only big Grand Slam match Federer was on the verge of winning against Djokovic.
It can come down to a few points, which happened in both that US Open final and the Wimbledon final years later. Federer could have been on 22 Grand Slams right now if they went differently, but he's not; he's on 20, and Djokovic is on 24 as of recently .
In any case, the Serbian talked about that match in a recent feature he did with ESPN+ and John McEnroe explaining how he predicted where Federer would serve,...

Novak Djokovic sat down with John McEnroe for an ESPN+ feature where they talked about several things, including his decision not to get vaccinated.
Novak Djokovic didn't get vaccinated , exercising the belief that everybody has a right to do with their body whatever they please. It's something he deeply believes in, and he simply didn't want to take something that could have any impact on his body and his career.
He trusted his health to be good enough to deal with any virus infection if it happened. It eventually happened, and despite contracting the virus, Djokovic suffered seemingly no consequences. He did suffer off the court, though, as the decision made him public enemy number one in tennis.
It was tough because indirectly, it cost him the Australian Open participation as he was deported, and the US Open as he couldn't enter the country, and therefore he also had to...

Novak Djokovic used to do impressions early on in his career, but he stopped doing that after a while out of respect for his fellow players, including Rafael Nadal .
Djokovic doing impressions happened a very long time ago when a video of him from the locker room surfaced online. He was asked to do a few on the tennis court in front of packed stands after that, and he obliged for a while but slowly started to decline, so people stopped asking.
He would explain later that he stopped out of respect for his fellow colleagues, which makes sense, but he didn't lose the talent. We saw him earlier this year doing an impression of Snoop Dogg at the Monaco Players Party.
Recently, the 36-year-old spoke to John McEnroe on ESPN about doing impersonations of his opponents, namely Rafael Nadal, among others. He gave a really interesting response on the matter.

Frances Tiafoe is very motivated ahead of the 2023 Davis Cup in the beautiful seaside town of Split, Croatia.
Visiting Split is never a bad idea, but for Tiafoe, it will be all business as he looks to power his nation past the Croatian side in a bid for the knockout stages of the Davis Cup Final. The USA has a strong team, but they must book their place first.
The European nation is hosting its group in Split, hoping to make it through. It will be tough without top player Marin Cilic, who has been injured pretty much all yea r, and Borna Coric, who withdrew his participation. Tiafoe is well aware of the history that the US has in the competition, describing it as an honour to play for his country.
Mac [John McEnroe] and those guys were way too early for me, but I know the history of it.

Coco Gauff won the 2023 US Open , proving her talent, which caused John McEnroe to question those who didn't believe in her.
Gauff was obviously highly regarded ever since she stepped on a tennis court due to the talent she possesses. Her career was a huge success, which is what most predicted a few years ago, but apparently, there were those who thought she wouldn't amount to anything, even years into her career on the Wta Tour.
After finally dispelling all of that at the US Open, John McEnroe questioned her detractors. While speaking to Eurosport, the former legendary player wondered out loud how anybody could possibly think that Gauff didn't have what it takes to be a Grand Slam champion.
I heard Coco talking about the people who were writing her off and saying that she was never going to win a major. Who were those people? I'm not familiar...
