Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 11 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired March 6 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” kicked off its 11th season on Wednesday night — and in perhaps the show’s most unusual reveal ever, comedian Kevin Hart brought his prank war with host Nick Cannon to the show.
Hart brought his one-night-only appearance to “The Masked Singer” as Book, singing the song “So Sick,” by Ne-Yo (who happened to be the Season 10 winner on the show). The performance… was a bit pitchy, dawg. At the end of the song, the show’s panelists seemed to dig it. But after Robin Thicke quickly I.D.’ed Hart, the star took off his costume to reveal himself.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lea Michele share a playful banter in a podcast episode about Tony Awards, sparking false feud rumors. Michele explains a lighthearted joke about Tony nominations on Jamie Lee Curtis' podcast, showcasing their friendship and humor. The Glee controversy highlights the complexities of working relationships, with allegations against Lea Michele leading to broader conversations.
A resurfaced podcast has led to speculation about a feud between Jamie Lee Curtis and Glee's Lea Michele. Glee remains a cultural phenomenon, enchanting audiences with high school drama and musical performances. Centering on the members of the New Directions choir at William McKinley High School, the show tackled various social issues through its diverse characters, making stars of its ensemble cast, including Lea Michele, who played the unlikable Rachel Berry in Glee. Its blend of popular cover songs and original music not only brought the show critical acclaim but also a dedicated fan base.

Glee wisely abandoned the Kurt-Sam crush storyline for more fulfilling same-sex relationships, adding depth to the show. New Girl's Abby Day added chaos but her unfinished storyline highlighted only the worst in others, hence her quick exit. Seinfeld stuck to its no learning mantra, avoiding on-and-off relationship dynamics and ensuring consistency.
Certain storylines in television series just do not work, and the show ended up being better off for abandoning them altogether. While it may be a strange experience for audiences to notice storylines that have dropped before they have been resolved, this was sometimes done because there was nothing to be gained from continuing unpopular stories, keeping unnecessary characters in the show, or proceeding with plotlines that nobody was engaged in anymore. This may result in the series feeling somewhat incomplete, but often this was a small price to pay for the sake of entertainment.

Film historians, critics and cineastes have heralded 1939 as the greatest year for Hollywood films. It was the year that saw the release of such classics as “Gone with the Wind,” “Stagecoach,” “Love Affair,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” “Young Mr. Lincoln” and “Wuthering Heights.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg
But what about Broadway? A case can be made for 1964, which saw the debuts of three musicals that became classics: “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Funny Girl” and “Hello, Dolly!”
Broadway was changing in the 1960s. Oscar Hammerstein II died in 1960; Irving Berlin’s last show was the disappointing 1962 “Mr. President”; and Cole Porter, who died in 1964, hadn’t had a musical on Broadway since the 1950s. Sixty years ago, a group of young talented composers and lyricists were the toast of the Great White Way.

RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Alaska is making a claim about Lea Michele following an interaction that happened at the Grammys in 2017.
Alaska was asked about fellow former contestant Princess Poppy showing up at the Emmys as a green goblin and the impact behind the stunt. That led into a discussion about the Lea encounter.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I just love this Princess Poppy stunt. I’ve been to a few mainstream awards show in drag. I went to the Grammys one year, because [fellow All Stars 2 contestant] Katya and I were invited. Celebrities are mortified of drag queens, because we represent the sort of facade. We pull the curtain back of the facade of what Hollywood is. We make fun of it,” Alaska said on the latest episode of the Race Chaser podcast (via EW).
“We’re aware that this is fake because we take this off at night and become a different person.

They mentioned season 3, episode 9, which aired in January 2012. Its plot involves Cory‘s character Finn finding out that his father died of a drug overdose.
Jenna and Kevin agreed that the scene “hit a little too close to home” upon rewatching it.

Multi-hyphenate talent Glen Powell is making his Broadway debut with Emmy winner Ryan Murphy.
Powell, who previously starred in Murphy’s “Scream Queens,” told Vogue that he’s reuniting with the mega-producer for a musical.
“Ryan Murphy and I, we’re actually making a musical together. We don’t really have any plans to be back in the television world together, but we’ll be on Broadway together,” Powell said.
The “Anyone but You” actor joked about a “Scream Queens” musical spin-off, saying, “‘The Chad Radwell Musical.’ That’s the funniest idea. Just the Dickie Dollar Scholars.”
In addition to Powell, the two-season cult favorite Fox series also starred Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Lea Michele, and Jamie Lee Curtis. The show aired from 2015 to 2016 and focused on a series of murders plaguing a college sorority.

Glee was a long-running hit, and the cast was prepared to do whatever it took to keep it that way. So much so that one of the stars even purposefully started a rumor that Cory Monteith and Lea Michele were dating to keep people tuning in.

They opened up about how it happened and who was in on it recently.

Barbie is the biggest movie of 2023, and some Gleeks are noticing a connection between the pink-hued masterpiece and the hit musical TV show.
It’s been eight years since the final episode of Glee aired, but this connection has spurred the belief that, if the two projects exist in the same universe, one of the characters is thriving in Hollywood.
There’s also a pretty good chance that you missed the connection!

In the 2022-2023 Broadway season, the first full season since theaters were closed due to the pandemic, audience numbers were down by 17 percent from 2018-2019, according to a study released Monday by the Broadway League.
This came as the season included high-grossing shows, such as Sweeney Todd, starring Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford and Funny Girl starring Lea Michele. That said, 2018-2019 was a record year for Broadway attendance and grosses. And the audience that returned after the theatrical shutdown was younger and more diverse.
As has been noted by members in the industry, suburban theatergoers, which had been a key audience segment, have been slow to return post-pandemic, with 14 percent of overall admissions coming from this segment in the 2022-2023 season, marking the lowest number on record in 23 years of the survey.

If you want a risk-taking Broadway musical that weaponizes disco-glamour to tell a story of crumbling democracy, I hope you already invested in a ticket to the immersion of "Here Lies Love" in its dying breath. If you want a work of artistic and personal self-reflection, see the "Merrily We Roll Along" revival. But if you hunger for Broadway-based belly laughs, you have two musical options: "Gutenberg! The Musical!" or the "Monty Python's Spamalot" revival.
"Lovingly ripped off" from the 1975 "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" as well as other "Monty Python" media, "Spamalot" reigned for 1,575 performances from its 2005 Broadway premiere. Transported from the Kennedy Center run in May 2023, this Broadway revival at the St. James Theatre serves up the oldies with adequate variance to its secondhand Pythonesque humor.
From the moment the Arthurian tale opens with an irrelevant Finland number, anyone who has not seen anything "Monty Python" is in for hijinks.

Lea Michele‘s Rachel Berry from Glee used to be at number 12, but now she’s much higher on the list due to people finding the voting feature.

Characters in TV shows can become more important than originally planned due to factors like audience popularity and actor talent. Supporting characters can often become the driving force of a show and have a significant impact on the narrative. The decision to elevate minor characters to major roles can lead to the success and longevity of a show.
Since there is no way to know how many seasons TV shows will get, it is impossible for them to have a fully laid-out plan for the plot, and some characters may end up becoming a lot more important than they were originally supposed to be. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as the character becoming popular with audiences, another actor abruptly exiting the show and giving way to this character turning into a regular, the actor's natural talent and charm that even the showrunners can't resist, and so on.

Broadway loves a recognizable name, a famous band or singer that can fuel a jukebox musical on nostalgia and familiar tunes. To its credit, Harmony isn’t that.

Maybe you’re among the countless Barry Manilow fans who follow his every move (and he’s been trying to move with Harmony for decades). But otherwise, chances are good that you don’t know the Harmonists.

Behind-the-scenes drama and toxic behavior on set can severely affect the stability and continuation of beloved television series. Shows like Rick and Morty, Glee, and Grey's Anatomy faced significant challenges, such as abuse allegations, bullying, and feuds among the cast. The toxic work environments on shows like Desperate Housewives and Charmed nearly caused these series to end prematurely.
Several TV shows endured so much turmoil behind the scenes that they very nearly did not survive, with such drama almost bringing some beloved series to a close several seasons early. It is easy to overlook the process, people, and behind-the-scenes work required to create a beloved television series. However, some major shows have been identified as having extremely unhealthy working environments, a select few of which were so severe that the drama behind the scenes threatened the very stability of the series.

Some main characters in TV shows can fall short, overshadowed by flaws or inadequacies that make them less suitable as the lead. The success of a show often hinges on the strength of its central character, but sometimes supporting cast or even villains shine brighter. Flawed main characters can disrupt the camaraderie and overall success of a show, highlighting the importance of a compelling protagonist.
When it comes to television shows, the main character often takes center stage — but sometimes, the protagonist falls short, leaving viewers eager to see more of other characters instead. An interesting detail about the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, starring replacement actress Lea Michele, was buried into a new report about Taylor Swift‘s concert movie.
The Hollywood Reporter did an in-depth analysis into how Taylor‘s movie for The Eras Tour concert is setting the stage for more concert and event films in the future.
The article had a brief mention of live theatre being filmed for the masses, including how HBO filmed a performance of David Byrne‘s recent Broadway musical American Utopia.
So, what happened with Funny Girl? And why wasn’t it ever filmed? Lea expressed interest in making a movie back in April, about five months before the show closed.

In the end, THR reports that a production company “was unable to drum up interest for filming the Broadway run of the Lea Michele-starring Funny Girl, despite the show’s Broadway record-breaking status.

To get this out of the way up top: No one is Taylor Swift.
This was the unanimous refrain among players who make and distribute concert films and music documentaries when asked what Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour means for the space. Nonetheless, insiders note that Swift’s is a rising tide that lifts all boats, with artists and their teams already making calls and taking cues from Swift’s Eras deal, which sees her keep an outsized portion of the film’s $160.4 million global haul after its second weekend in release.
According to a survey of 6,000 moviegoers by NATO’s Cinema Foundation, 72 percent said they want to see more concert films on the big screen. But that content has not been available with consistency.

Some TV betrayals were not given enough time to be properly addressed and forgiven, even in the best TV shows of all time. The characters involved in betrayals must be of sound mind, making their choice to betray friends and family more potent and the lack of responsibility more obvious. Even the best TV characters are not immune to the consequences of their betrayals, and they should be held accountable for their actions.
Given how life is full of contradictions, it can feel easier to brush over the divisive actions of characters, but there are some betrayals on TV that were passed over too quickly. When two characters have such a strong bond, the willingness to forgive is also important, especially when it seems like those characters have always been solid. However, there are some mistakes that seem too gargantuan to move on from, and even if they can be forgiven,...

It’s been seven years since Scream Queens released its last episode, but the campy horror series remains a cult classic that’s referenced to this day.
That’s at least partly due to the star-studded cast that’s dominated Hollywood in the years since the show went off-air.
Centered around the likes of Emma Roberts, Lea Michele and Jamie Lee Curtis, Scream Queens had no shortage of talent. Of course, the actors have also been handsomely paid for their work both on the series and beyond.
But you might be wondering who has amassed the most impressive net worth over the years.
Earlier this week marked the show’s eighth anniversary. In honor of the occasion, we did some digging and ranked the cast by their estimated net worth. Coming in at first place, the top-earning star has the competition beat by a landslide.

Pregnancy and its various complications have always been fertile ground when it comes to horror. From devil children to… well, it’s always devil children, isn’t it? Which is why the most recent season of American Horror Story: Delicate — which deals with the heartbreaking trials and errors of IVF — could have easily been a joyless slog. Haven’t we seen enough movies where a woman has the audacity to want a child, only to give birth to Damien? Thank God, then, for Kim Kardashian.

Update, with additional box office figures: Lea Michele treated the final-night audience of Broadway’s Funny Girl to an extra song Sunday, performing “My Man,” popularized by Fanny Brice in 1921 but not included in the musical’s original score.
Michele performed the song – omitting, as did Barbra Streisand in the 1968 film version, the infamous “he beats me too” introductory verse used by Brice and Billie Holiday – after Sunday’s curtain call. (Watch it below.)
After thanking the audience, cast and crew profusely, Michele said, “If you know me then you will know that this is the hardest song I’ve ever sung and I want to give it to you” just before launching into “My Man.”
Although she didn’t explain the “hardest song” reference, Glee fans will remember that Michele’s character Rachel Berry sang the song in a 2011 episode over a montage of the actor Cory Monteith’s Finn character.

Rewatching Glee is like a fever dream. The show was over-the-top and remarkably self-aware, employing meta and self-deprecating humor to tell the story of a group of underdogs coming together to form a high school show choir. The show starred a large ensemble, including several actors who went on to have successful careers, including Lea Michele, Amber Riley, and Darren Criss.

Lea Michele ended her run as the star of Broadway’s Funny Girl on Sunday.
The actress had stepped into the role a year ago, replacing Beanie Feldstein, who had debuted in the title role of Fanny Brice earlier that year.
The revival had launched in April 2022 to mixed reviews, with many arguing that Feldstein failed to fill the big shoes left by Barbra Streisand, who originated the role on Broadway in 1964, earning a Tony nom, and subsequently won an Oscar for her performance in the 1968 film adaptation. Feldstein announced her departure in July 2022. Meanwhile, Tovah Feldshuh took over Jane Lynch’s role as Fanny’s mom.
With Michele on board, producers reportedly were able to recoup capitalization costs, according to The New York Times, with the show boasting almost 600 performances at the August Wilson Theatre in New York.

Lea Michele, the star of Funny Girl, ends her stay today in the Broadway revival. She noted the milestone with an Instagram post that touted the show’s recoupment of its $16.5 million capitalization.
“For the past year, I’ve had the honor and privilege of playing the iconic Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on the August Wilson Stage,” she wrote. “An opportunity my younger self could have only dreamed of. And did.”
The musical opened in April 2022 at the August Wilson Theatre, starring Beanie Feldstein in the title role of Fanny Brice. Although fans initially showed great enthusiasm and ticket-buying, critics and Tony Award nominators found her performance lackluster, and the production soon saw a drop-off in sales. Feldstein made an unusually public leaving of the show, and was immediately replaced by producers with Glee star Lea Michele, who had her own strong fan base and who wowed critics. Box office receipts surged.

The "Glee" cast and crew recently reunited in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. On Aug. 23, stars including Heather Morris, Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Kevin McHale, as well as writers, producers, and choreographers for the hit television series joined the picket line in Burbank, CA. Marching alongside former coworkers, the group made sure to include a special shoutout to the late Naya Rivera, who played Santana Lopez on the show and died after a tragic boating accident in July 2020.
At the protests, a few of the picketers carried signage displaying famous one-liners from "Glee." Morris's sign featured Santana and her quote, "The only straight I am is straight-up broke," while former crew member Meg Doyle held up another screen grab of Santana saying, "I'm about to go all Lima Heights." Ushkowitz's sign also showed a snap of her character Tina Cohen-Chang saying, "I'm dehydrated from all the striking.

The creators of The O.C. knew right away that they’d made a mistake in terminating Mischa Barton’s character, Marissa, they say in a new interview.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, executive producers of the early 2000s Fox drama, recently spoke with Vanity Fair to promote their new book, Welcome to the O.C.: The Oral History, written with Rolling Stone’s Alan Sepinwall. (Note: Rolling Stone is owned by TVLine’s parent company, Pmc.) In the interview, Savage and Schwartz address Marissa Cooper’s death in the Season 3 finale, which came as a shock to the show’s audience.

Idina Menzel wasn't prepared to be an onscreen mom. In an Aug. 12 interview with Stellar magazine, published in the New York Post, the Broadway star recalled how it felt to take on the role of Lea Michele's mom on "Glee" when she was only 38 years old. "You know, you're worried you're not going to work again, and then people hire you to be someone's mother when you probably should be their older sister," she said of her iconic character, Shelby Corcoran. In actuality, Menzel is only 15 years older than Michele and had only just given birth to her first child when she accepted the job.
"I had my son Walker, and then three months later, I got the call and so I said 'yes,'" she said, adding that she had trouble fitting into her costumes because she was still breastfeeding. "It just wasn't great for the ego,...

Idina Menzel, who played Rachel's mom in Glee, was worried about her age when she got cast in the role, fearing it would affect her future career. Menzel believed that she should have played Rachel's sister instead of her mother due to their 15-year age gap, which could have led to an interesting storyline. Despite the age difference, Menzel's portrayal of Shelby made a lasting impact on Glee and set the stage for Rachel's future storylines.
Glee star Idina Menzel has opened up about her getting cast as Rachel's mom in the show, despite there not being a massive age difference between her and Rachel's actor Lea Michele. Menzel first portrayed Rachel's long-lost mother, Shelby, in Glee season 1, episode 14, where she appeared as a voice coach. Shelby would return at various points throughout the series, making her last appearance in season 4.
