Lives in New York with her husband, who is also an attorney, and their son.
She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Ohio State University. She received a law degree from Ohio State University and is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
From 1983-1986, she served as a consumer reporter for WMAQ-TV in Chicago. She also served as a reporter in Cleveland, Columbus, Ohio and Baltimore. In 1986, she joined CBS News where she has served as a consumer correspondent for CBS This Morning (1987) and the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather (1981). In 1990, she joined the CBS News program, 48 Hours (1988) as a correspondent.
