The doors of Cloud 9 will close for the final time next month. NBC has set Thursday, March 25 at 8 pm for the one-hour series finale of its hit comedy Superstore.
The network announced in December that the series would end with its current sixth season and a total of 113 episodes. The cancellation followed the exit of star America Ferrera earlier in the season. The series, set in the fictional big-box store Cloud 9, also stars Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Sakura, Kaliko Kauahi and Mark McKinney.
Created by Justin Spitzer, the critically praised series has examined many of the country’s most topical issues, including health care, immigration, unionization, the plight of the retail worker and more through its own comedic lens. It has consistently been one of NBC’s strongest comedies, reaching more than 37 million viewers last season.

Cloud 9 is closing for good as NBC’s Superstore is coming to an end with its sixth season.
The network is ending the show after this current run – taking the total number of episodes of the single-camera comedy to 113.
It comes after America Ferrera departed the show earlier this season. Ferrera, who was set to exit at the end of season five, guest starred in the first two episodes of this season, which returned at the end of October.
The show returns on Thursday January 14 at 8:30pm with 11 more episodes to air this season.
It is the latest comedy move at NBC, which pulled Connecting last month. The network has Brooklyn Nine-Nine returning in 2021 and will have high hopes for new shows including Mr. Mayor, Young Rock and Kenan, which are all set to debut next year.

The semi-essential workers on Superstore return from their summer — and early-fall — hiatus for Season 6 on October 29, and NBC has released a promo (watch it below).
After Season 5 was cut short because of the pandemic, the new episodes certainly will address the dominant topic of 2020, as we see the Cloud 9 staff deal with coronavirus protocols and an errant sneeze near the pharmacy. Season 6 also will deal with the exit of star America Ferrera, who announced in February that she was leaving the show. Only half of her Amy character’s two-part finale had aired, so Ferrera will appear in
When NBC released its first tweaked fall schedule in August, Superstore was slated to return at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22. About a month later, the show’s sixth season was pushed back by a week.

Superstore and pandemic comedy Connecting are moving back a week as NBC continues to shuffle its fall schedule.
Superstore will return on Thursday October 29, having previously been dated for Thursday October 22 at 8pm, while Connecting, which was originally set for Thursday October 1 at 8:30pm will move to Thursday October 1.
This comes 24 hours after NBC moved up the premiere of season five of This Is Us with the family drama launching with a two-hour premiere on October 27.
The sixth season of Superstore will see the exit of star America Ferrera. However, the actress will guest star in the first two episodes of the season after the Covid-19 production shutdown meant that only one half of her two part finale aired. In addition to appearing in the season opener, as she says goodbye to her colleagues, she will also return for the second episode.

Patti Lee first got her start in the business as an electrician and worked her way up the ranks to gaffer and lighting director before moving into the camera department, so her view as a cinematographer now comes with a full-360 understanding of the technical elements necessary to capture a perfect shot. The two-time Emmy nominee overall is back on the multi-camera series cinematography ballot this year, for the first time since 2018, for her work on CBS’ “Bob Hearts Abishola.”
What inspired you to start your career in lighting and then move into the camera field?
That was by accident. When I got out of film school I definitely thought I was going to be heading toward the cinematography route, and from what I saw, a lot of people were becoming camera assistants and then operators and would move their way up the ladder that way. I got a call...

After receiving critical acclaim for its freshman season, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will continue to follow the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph)—two teenagers from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened with and awakened to newly acquired superpowers, which are mysteriously linked to one another. Season two turns the heat up on our young heroes as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. Boardwalk Empire, “Devil You Know”
Written by Howard Korder
Directed by Jeremy Podeswa
Aired October 12, 2014
After four seasons of deliberately paced, character-based storytelling, Boardwalk Empire wasn’t going to change its approach in its final truncated season. Instead of introducing new intrigues or foes, the series used much of its time to reflect on the paths that brought Nucky and the other main characters to this point and to say an extended goodbye to the people and world of the show. With Nucky facing off against well known historical figures, an air of doom pervades much of the final episodes before they reach their poetic, but inevitable conclusion. More intriguing is the antepenultimate episode, “Devil You Know”, which says goodbye to two of the series’ most colorful characters and powerful actors, Michael Shannon’s George Mueller/Nelson Van Alden and Michael K. Williams’ Chalky White. Shannon’s intense and frequently...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Season 2, Episode 4, “Halloween 2”
Written by Prentice Penny
Directed by Eric Appel
Airs Sundays at 8:30pm Et on Fox
“Halloween II” has the tough job of having to live up to the standards of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s first season classic, “Halloween,” which featured an audacious bet, where Jake bargained a week of overtime to get the captain to do a pile of paperwork for him (and he won). This time around, Peralta ups the stakes and offers to do five weeks of unpaid overtime if he can’t steal Holt’s watch by midnight. But If he fails, Jake has to work a whopping five weeks of overtime with no pay. After a quick analysis, Captain Holt shakes on it. Sequels are rarely better than its predecessor and rarely does a sequel meet the expectations of devoted fans. “Halloween II” isn’t as strong as the original,...

The Goldbergs, Season 1, Episode 6, “Who Are You Going to Telephone?”
Directed by Victor Nelli
Written by Chris Bishop
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm Est on ABC
The Goldbergs faces two challenges this week- delivering a strong Halloween episode that is as good as the other contenders and being as entertaining as the show’s previous episodes as well. Seeing as it’s the one of the few shows, along with Trophy Wife, that isn’t taking a break this week, The Goldbergs is under even more pressure to deliver. Fortunately these aren’t huge factors and the show’s Halloween episode is their funniest yet. Similarly to Trophy Wife, “Who Are You Going to Telephone?” focuses on family traditions but once again is triumphant because of its creativity. The running theme in The Goldbergs is growing up and the show continues to explore how the adult characters fail to accept that...

The Big Bang Theory, Season 7, Episode 1, “The Hofstadter Insufficiency”
Directed by Mark Cendrowski
Written by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molarao, and Tara Hernandez (Story), and Eric Kaplan, Jim Reynolds, and Steve Holland (Teleplay)
Airs Thursdays at 8pm Est on CBS
After a fairly unimaginative season finale, the premiere for season seven explores how the characters have adapted without Leonard once again. Despite the slight decline in comedy throughout season six, last season wrapped up well enough. The only problem was the repetition of a familiar storyline: Leonard going away. This time round a number of things have changed for the characters, making for a highly anticipated season seven premiere. Unfortunately the two parter is a little disappointing. The first episode is the better of the two, as we see what the characters have been up to since Leonard’s departure. With Leonard out of the mix a number of characters have...

Fox has one of its better slates coming your way with the new season, especially if you take the midseason shows into account. Some of these shows may not jump out at you now as must-see, but some of them are going to take over, if I’m any judge anyway.
Clear showcase offerings Dads, Almost Human, and Us & Them are guaranteed to take off early. Almost Human has J.J. Abrams recognition to pull people in, though it looks to be a show that could flounder after a few episodes, even if I hope it doesn’t. The other two are going to become hits. Unfortunately, we have to wait until mid-season for the Gavin & Stacey remake.
Rake also looks like a winner, as long as the translation can be made to work as an Americanized product, and the show actually delivers what made the Australian original so brilliant.

Community, Season 4, Episode 12: “Heroic Origins”
Written by Steve Basilone & Annie Mebane & Maggie Bandur
Directed by Victor Nelli, Jr.
Airs Thursdays at 8pm Et on NBC
Let’s tell the origin story of this Community review. In the cold open, when Britta compared their interlocking origins to “the classic French film trilogy Bleu, Blanc, Rouge,” and Abed responds with “No. Like something more accessible, like Unbreakable,” I wrote it down in my notes. This would be the key to this week’s review, and a perfect metaphor for the season. A show that once aspired for meaning through art reduced to something that is fun but ultimately facile. Then I woke up this morning and realized Todd VanDerWerff, using the “movies” vs. “cinema” dichotomy established in Steven Soderbergh’s “State of the Cinema” address as a framework, beat me to the punch.

Suburgatory, Episode 2.16 “How to be a Baby”
Written By: Brian Chamberlayne
Directed By: Victor Nelli Jr.
Airs Wednesdays at 9:30pm Et on ABC
For an episode that relied on a restating of a famous moment in a romantic film and a lot of subtle comedy, Suburgatory managed to include one titanic shift: Noah is in love with Carmen! Or at least in such a strong infatuation with her that he would break up with his wife at her book signing and recreate a moment from The Notebook in Dallas’ shower. It was such a strange ride, but completely hilarious.
Noah began the episode in an extreme funk, having Carmen withdrawals and, after beating up his psychiatrist, is given to George’s care to try and get him weaned off that fixation. I like how Noah and George’s relationship has basically inverted since the show began. George, now in a relationship with Dallas,...

Once Upon A Time, Season 1, Episode 6: “The Shepherd”
Directed by Victor Nelli Jr.
Written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz
Airs 8pm Et on ABC
Following the best episode of the series yet, “The Shepherd” is the prequel to the first encounter between Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin). This time around, we focus on Charming, and his fairy tale background, while diving further into the love triangle between David, Mary Margaret, and Kathryn in Storybrooke.
So, Prince Charming isn’t really a Prince. It turns out the real Prince was slain, stabbed in the back in a very anti-climactic scene. Thankfully, he has a twin brother, who’s the real prince, or at least the new prince, but more importantly the Prince Charming we’ve all read about as children. The NBC comedy Outsourced has spent the season firmly entrenched in the network's Thursday night line-up. And while the vets like 30 Rock, Community, Parks and Recreation and The Office have been renewed, Outsourced is still holding out for word on season two. While they await their fate, cast members Rizwan Manji and Parvesh Cheena talked about their characters and their influences in a recent conference call interview.
On the show Rizwan plays Rajiv Gidwani, the manager (in name only) at Mid America Novelties who makes no qualms about wanting to climb the ladder. Parvesh plays his office associate, the annoying but somehow endearing Gupta.
Parvesh admitted that he's the practical joker on the set and is always pulling gags on his fellow actors, especially Rizwan. He divulged, "Unfortunately Rizwan has been the brunt of many of my pranks… Riz tends to fall asleep during filming...

"Outsourced" is a sly, fish-out-of-water comedy on NBC's Thursday night institutional comedy block, nestled in with "The Office," "Community" and " 30 Rock." ("Parks and Recreation" returns midseason.) Just as "My Name is Earl" poked a big stick...
