- Trained as a dancer and was in the original company of three Broadway musicals under the stage name Leoda Knapp (her real name). She appeared in "A Connecticut Yankee," "Strike Me Pink" and "Anything Goes" (as one of Reno Sweeney's Angels).
- Married Charles Richards in 1928 and eventually took his name as her stage moniker. He died in 1950. They had one daughter, Barbara.
- Played the saleslady in Witness for the Prosecution (1957), who, at the very beginning of the film, sells a hat to Emily Jane French (Norma Varden). French is later the victim whose apparent murderer is being prosecuted.
- Daughter of Carl and Celia (Sauer) Knapp.
