James Gunn is currently on a tight and hectic schedule working on both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2. With both hands full and timetable loaded, fans have felt deeply concerned about the filmmaker and the fate of the two projects.
John Cena in Peacemaker
The director addressed this query on his social media platform, and it seems he is devoting more time for Superman while still making visible progress on the Peacemaker sequel. It is a tough job to handle two different projects and develop them at the same time, but that seems to be the thrill and joy of it.

The Biblical story of Jesus is often referred to as the greatest ever told, but whoever came up with that line patently knew nothing about literature. Poorly structured and still more clumsily paced, with underdeveloped characters and –well – incessant use of Deus ex machina, it’s worth trying to improve on for any sequel. Rosemary Rodriguez’s present day reimagining, which screened at SXSW, occupies a middle ground between it and The Terminator, dealing with themes of unplanned motherhood and destiny, monstrous pursuit and a struggle to survive against the odds. Though not entirely successful, it’s a bold effort to breathe some life into the story and use it to explore contemporary issues.
Maria (Natalia del Riego) doesn’t know how she got pregnant, but she does know what everyone will assume, and she’s terrified of what her father will do to her if he finds out, so she has walked.

The previous announcement unveiled a stacked horror lineup that includes headiners Evil Dead Rise and opener Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
In addition, they revealed several prominent horror titles that will premiere as part of the Midnighters program, including the Sundance hit Talk to Me and the surprise sequel to Becky, The Wrath of Becky.
It turns out, the programming team isn’t finished!
SXSW announced another wave of film programming today, including an eighth Midnighter.

“Hail Mary,” a modern-day biblical fantasy that upends the mythology of Mary and Joseph, is in the works.
“House of Gucci” actor Jack Huston and Angela Sarafyan of “Westworld” will star in the movie, which is currently in production in Mexico City. Additional cast members include newcomers Natalia del Riego and Benny Emmanuel.

Peacemaker explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of Gunn’s 2021 film “The Suicide Squad” – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The first three episodes of the DC spin-off series premiered Thursday, January 13 and runs through February 17.
While Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and directed five, including the first, it’s the 5th episode titled “Monkey Dory” that has become the standout story of the first season.
Here’s a look at the five reasons why we loved it.

In the second "Peacemaker" episode not directed by writer and creator James Gunn, the gang finally bonds a little. Following the Jody Hill-directed bummer of "The Choad Less Traveled" is "Monkey Dory," a wildly fun kick in the pants directed by Rosemary Rodriguez. This week's episode starts with everyone feeling pretty rotten, but after bonding over hair metal and a bit of bloody carnage, things almost seem like they might turn out okay for the members of Project Butterfly. There is still the whole thing with Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), but that'll be just fine too, right? It's not like Gunn has a history of torturing his characters and...

The Walking Dead is evolving. Season 10C is coming soon and the run after that will be the finale of the core show. But don’t mistake this for an ending as there are many, many spinoffs in the works.
One will follow Norman Reedus’ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol, another will be an anthology series called Tales of the Walking Dead, there’s some kind of straight comedy show planned and Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond have further seasons to come, too. But the most anticipated by far is the movie trilogy starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes.
Fan excitement for this has been tempered by the knowledge that we could have a long wait ahead of us. The Covid-19 pandemic’s resulted in delays to the project, with previous indications being that the films would shoot in mid-2021 for a 2022/2023 release. Now,...

The Walking Dead is one of the most unapologetically gruesome shows out there. After running for nearly a dozen seasons, there’s hardly anything audiences haven’t yet seen. From heinous violence to heartless betrayal, the story has addressed it all – and that’s without even mentioning the flesh-eating zombies.
With that in mind, fans were understandably surprised to learn that AMC actually toned down a scene shot by season 7 director Rosemary Rodriguez. The scene in question, Rodriguez told Undead Walking, takes place in the seventh episode, and has to do with the amount of skin shown on screen.

Production has been completed on That One Time, an independent pilot for Lucky 13 Productions that was directed and created by Melanie Wagor, a 2020 DGA Director Development Initiative protégé.
Dermot Mulroney and newcomer Dylan Flashner star in the project, written by Wagor and Cameron Northey. Wagor and Joel Michaely are executive producers, and Northey is co-executive producer.
The pilot follows a diverse group of high school students as they struggle to define themselves while contending with what it means to be a teenager in 2019 – a time fraught with sex, drugs, social media, turbulent friendships, dysfunctional families and rapid societal change.
Jenna Leigh Green, Yazmin Monet Watkins, Troy Gentile, Ryan Malaty, Dana Melanie, Michelle DeShon and Robyn Lively are also in the cast.

They’re arguably one of TV’s greatest ever modern-day double acts – up there with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, and those Winchester brothers that everyone raves about.
We are, of course, referring to Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon, two pillars of The Walking Dead universe. The former is sadly no longer with us, having been shipped off in a helicopter during the gut-wrenching (mid-season) finale of season 9. He’s still scheduled to return, mind you, what with a trilogy of AMC movies in the works for Andrew Lincoln’s grizzled survivor, but in the interest of some good old-fashioned nostalgia, Walking Dead director Rosemary Rodriguez has shared a never-before-seen snap of Lincoln and his cohort Norman Reedus (Daryl) goofing around on set.
And here’s the caption:
Right about now I start thinking of all the special moments that made me feel #gratitude this past year. Here’s one of them!

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead. Enter at your own risk.
“I think it’s going to be a full seven-course meal and people are going to be satisfied with it,” says Norman Reedus of Andrew Lincoln’s final parting from The Walking Dead in next week’s episode. Revealed months ago, the decision by Lincoln to leave the AMC series began its final stage tonight in what is the penultimate episode for the man who was and will always be #1 on Twd’s call sheet since the show debuted in 2010.
Ending with Lincoln’s Grimes literally trapped on a cement block with a potentially fatal metal pole through his side as a hoard of walkers were approaching down the road, tonight’s “The Obliged” episode was as much about the future of Twd as it was about setting up the end for its lead character.

Can the warrior and the farmer coexist in Rick Grimes' new world? The Walking Dead ventures to find out.
This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 4
One of the immediate improvements in The Walking Dead Season 9 has been the writing. It is only four episodes into the new season, and the dialog has shown marked improvement over the writing under the previous showrunner. At times, it's remarkable that it's even the same show; there's been so much more show than tell, and when telling is needed, things seem to make a lot more sense and to be expressed much more eloquently. Thus far, the highlight of that commitment to improved writing is “The Obliged,” in which most of the show is taken up with two characters having conversations. Unlike previous talky seasons, this time the exchanges carry weight, and have meaning.

There are many changes in Sunday’s Season 9 premiere of “The Walking Dead,” but here’s one of the biggest for star Norman Reedus: “I didn’t really say much, the last couple of seasons. I’m talking my ass off now.” He laughed. “[Former star] Andy [Lincoln] will call and he goes, ‘How’s it going?’ I’m like, ‘You’re such an asshole. I can’t believe you left me. I have all these lines now. I have to memorize stuff all the time.'”
Along with Lincoln’s exit, this season also brings new showrunner Angela Kang. And Reedus said that’s made all the difference to the long-running zombie apocalypse drama.
“We have a different flavor in all directions,” said Reedus, who has played the rough-riding Daryl since the series began. “The sets are different. The camera work is different. The writing is different. The actors are different,...

The 2018 pilot season is shaping up to be a landmark year for women behind the camera.
Female creators and directors saw gains virtually across the board, as networks ramp up efforts to include more women in the pilot process. As Variety previously reported, the Time’s Up and Me Too movements have played important roles this season, with the networks all looking for ways to increase female representation.
According to multiple TV literary agents who spoke with Variety, there was a clear shift within the networks this year to increase the number of women behind the camera, particularly in the director’s chair. One source also noted that the studios exerted “immense pressure” to increase the number of female directors this season.
ABC has 13 female creators on 9 of their 23 pilots this year, up from 9 creators in 2017. Of those, five are comedies, including originals from Liz Meriwether and J.J. Philbin, Diablo Cody,...

When the first season of “Jessica Jones” premiered nearly two and a half years ago, the Netflix/Marvel universe felt shiny and new, and fans relished the possibilities behind this bold new take on superhero storytelling.
But now in the year 2018, after slogging through a second season of “Daredevil” that felt inessential, “Iron Fist” (no explanation needed), and the ultimately disappointing “The Defenders,” our excitement level for a new Marvel season — even a follow-up to arguably the very best Marvel season produced so far — is a bit waning.
That said — damn, is it good to be hanging out with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) again. In Season 2, the P.I. with superpowers remains vulnerable to bullets as well as the consequences of her bad choices. And while the narrative surrounding her takes too long to find cohesion, it still results in a searing, in-depth character study not normally expected from this genre.

This weekend brought us one of the most action-packed hours of The Walking Dead in a while, as episode 2 of season 8, titled “The Damned,” featured what has to be the show’s biggest gun battle ever. As the Alexandrians and the Saviors went to war, several lower-tier characters were seemingly killed off, including Jordan Woods-Robinson’s Eric.
So, how does a director on The Walking Dead approach handling the death of a regular? For Rosemary Rodriguez, it’s a serous topic, as she knows that leaving a series they’ve worked on for a while can really get to an actor. On Twd, however, the cast know to expect that their time could be up at any moment.
“The good thing about The Walking Dead is actors coming to it, kind of knowing that could happen any moment in any episode. There are other shows where it’s not really a part of the landscape.

Two episodes in, The Walking Dead's eighth season has been nothing but action. There have been little fits and starts, and pauses for breath, but for the most part, two episodes in, we've seen a whole lot of people firing machine guns and a whole lot of cars covered in salvaged metal driving in front of armed compounds to wall people inside. There's also another reminder of just how effective zombies can be in this new environment as a siege weapon.
The team Dwight sent off in the first episode is holed up in some sort of compound, cleaning and maintaining their weapons. There's a bit of light comedy involving a goofy screw-up...

The Walking Dead's Season Eight premiere last week was undoubtedly action-packed; in retrospect, however, you can see how most of the hour was about the bluster before the battle. All the fireworks happened in the last third – and even that was just the opening salvo for what could be weeks of warfare. It's in this week's episode – "The Damned" – where the conflict really ramps up, on multiple fronts. And by the closing credits, there's no sign of any peace treaties getting drawn up any time soon.

With only a few days standing between now and The Walking Dead‘s season 8 premiere – October 22nd is the date for your diaries – the show’s impassioned fanbase is currently itching for another instalment in the Rick Grimes saga.
Kicking things off with the super-sized “Mercy,” the season 8 opener is said to be The Walking Dead‘s “most ambitious” episode yet, which is rather fitting given that it’ll write its name in the history books as episode number 100. Reaching such a milestone is cause for celebration, though while speaking to Variety, executive producer and director Greg Nicotero stressed that “Mercy” is a heartfelt thank you to the show’s community.
Echoing his own comments about nostalgia and nods to the past, Nicotero told viewers to be on the lookout for “two or three sequences” in Sunday’s premiere.

If there’s one member of The Walking Dead crew who will be longing for revenge in season 8, it’s Daryl Dixon.
Still reeling from the show’s seventh season, in which Norman Reedus’ fan-favorite was subjected to a brutal spell of torture at the hands of Negan and his sinister Saviors, Daryl will soon be caught amongst the “all-out war” between Negan and the show’s three primary factions: the Alexandria Safe-Zone, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom.
Despite their differences, those three armies have joined forces in the name of a common enemy, and all involved in The Walking Dead season 8 have assured viewers that this year’s instalment will be one to remember. It’ll also make history thanks to the premiere of “Mercy,” which will have the honor of marking the show’s 100th episode this coming weekend.
