Al Roker and his production banner have been sued by Bill Schultz, a former executive producer on an animated kids TV series in development. Schultz (The Simpsons, King of The Hill, Garfield) claims he was fired for objecting to the company’s failure to follow a diversity initiative intended to bring minority writers onto PBS television productions.
The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court on Tuesday, alleges executives at Al Roker Entertainment “callously disregarded” a diversity, equity and inclusion program, commonly called Dei, mandated by PBS, which covered the bulk of the production expenses for animated series Weather Hunters, by attempting to have Black writers touch up scripts written by white scribes to give the appearance of a diverse writers room.

After Batman: The Animated Series, the DC Animated Universe, or Dcau, also gained immense popularity through Superman: The Animated Series. The latter series was also critically acclaimed and gave us one of the best iterations of Clark Kent ever. However, the same cannot be said for Superman’s voice actor Tim Daly.
A still from Superman: The Animated Series
Despite being highly popular, Tim Daly did not reprise his Clark Kent role in Dcau’s Justice League series. Tim Daly could never rise to the level of Kevin Conroy, who made a massive name for voicing Batman across several DC projects. The Sopranos actor stated in an interview that he would like to reprise his role again and urged his fans to ask for the show’s renewal.

Savannah Guthrie seems to be growing tired of everything that happens behind the scenes at NBC. The Today co-anchor has been making her rounds on talk shows to discuss her new book and it looks like it might be her first step away from the network. Keep reading to see what she revealed during her chat with Stephen Colbert.
Savannah Guthrie Addresses Ronna McDaniel Situation
The Today star sat down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. During their conversation, Savannah Guthrie briefly addressed Ronna McDaniel’s scandal at NBC.
Ronna was fired from the network just one week after being brought on. She was the former Republican National Committee chairwoman and, evidently, there was an “internal revolt” at her being hired.

When asked about the situation, Savannah Guthrie said that she would tell Stephen the “inside scoop,” but maintained that it was a pretty boring story.

Harry Smith is moving on. After 12 years at NBC News, veteran correspondent Smith is leaving the network and will begin teaching at his alma mater this fall.
Smith received an emotional farewell send-off Friday from Today show anchors Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie. The show played A Look Back video of his work over the years after which he received a standing ovation from his Today show colleagues.
Smith narrated the five-minute video, concluding by saying: “And it all seems like it happened yesterday.”
“I have nothing but gratitude,” Smith said. “Every time I would always come on this show, I was always welcomed so generously. I’ve had just this unbelievable array of phenomenal experiences since coming to NBC, and so I’m really full of nothing but gratitude. Every time I’ve come on, everyone would drop their phones, pay attention to the story and then respond.

Savannah Guthrie and Dylan Dreyer have become familiar faces on NBC’s Today, appearing on the morning program and Third Hour.
However, they were noticeably absent from the latest episodes of the NBC lineup, which might have surprised viewers.
When Today arrived on Friday, viewers saw stars such as Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker appearing in various segments.
Until this week, Roker had been absent from Today because he was vacationing with his son in a warm and sunny location.
Dylan replaced Roker during his absence, but she was abruptly absent from the lineup on Friday.
In addition, Savannah was missing again following a recent book tour that took her around the country.
Dylan Dreyer misses Today amid significant event
Like Roker recently vacationed with family, so did his fellow meteorologist and show host. With spring break underway for many families, Dylan enjoyed an adventure with some of her family.

Dylan Dreyer’s big announcement while on NBC’s Today left her at a loss for words later.
The meteorologist and host for Today’s 3rd Hour appeared alongside her colleagues Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Al Roker to share her news.
“Well, this is a very special morning. Not only because of Caitlin Clark’s possible big thing, but we’ve got a big announcement from Dylan,” Roker said as others clapped and cheered.
“Her new bestselling Misty series has the latest installment. This one is called Misty the Cloud: The Thing About Spring,” he said.
Dreyer then spoke about how she loves the Step Into Reading books because her son Calvin is reading them, and another of her sons is close to starting to read them.
She described her latest book as good for kindergarten and first-grade-level readers, as it has simple sentences, simple words, and easy-to-understand concepts.

In the "Bones" episode "Spaceman in a Crater", Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) find the splattered remains of a human being out in the middle of a field. It seems that they had fallen from a great height, likely pushed from a plane (the victim had no parachute). Like with many episodes of "Bones," the camera lingers on the gory remains for a long while, allowing audiences to squirm a little bit before Bones and Booth can begin investigating the case in earnest. They find that the victim's bones were porous and brittle, indicating that he was either 130 years old, or that he had spent a great deal of time in zero gravity. "Bones," however, is not "The X-Files," so there is no actual alien malfeasance afoot.

That was the explanation given by Larry David after throttling Elmo on live television, an apparent response to the treacly sentiments of the Sesame Street character. Elmo has been much in the news for asking via X how everyone was doing. This time, he got his answer directly.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Elmo were guests on the Today show Thursday when the confrontation broke out just before an Al Roker weather segment. David walked on and began vigorously choking Elmo.
Elmo was just wrapping up a segment about his viral mental health tweet when David showed him what’s up.
Hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin were stunned, but defended the furry red character. Guthrie told Larry he’d gone too far, and Roker said he wasn’t surprised by David’s actions.
David apologized before his segment on the upcoming Curb Your Enthusiasm season.

Dylan Dreyer navigated through what may have been a somewhat awkward moment on live television.
The meteorologist and host of Today’s 3rd Hour was involved in an on-air segment with her colleague Al Roker, which was later posted online.
They joke with each other frequently, with Al sometimes riling Dreyer up with his quips.
However, Dreyer tends to fire back when necessary and did that during one recent Today segment.
During a recent Today episode, the duo teamed up for a Movies and Munchies Superfood Quiz segment.
Married actors Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung also appeared on that Today episode and competed against them for the game.

Jon Rosen, a longtime WME agent and executive who has represented some of TV’s best known news anchors and celebrity chefs, is leaving the Endeavor-owned agency to launch his own management firm, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Rosen, who represents NBC News’ Stephanie Ruhle, Willie Geist and Hallie Jackson as well as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, is set to manage many of his current clients, according to one of these people, and they are expected to retain WME as an agency. A WME spokesperson did not respond immediately to a query seeking comment and Rosen could not be reached immediately for comment via a call Wednesday.
His exit comes as WME parent Endeavor has come under new scrutiny on Wall Street. The company, which recently helped create the combat-sports company Tko, suggested in October that it might consider going private.

PBS host Henry Louis Gates Jr. put Al Roker on the spot during Tuesday’s (January 2) The Today Show when he mentioned how the beloved weathercaster backed out of a Finding Your Roots appearance. Gates Jr. hosts Finding Your Roots, which sees celebrity guests presented with a “book of life” compiled with information about their ancestral histories, familial connections, and secrets about their lineage, all researched by professional genealogists. Talking to Today‘s Roker, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones about the tenth season, which premiered Tuesday, January 2, on PBS, Gates Jr. was asked if he had any dream guests for the show. Without hesitation, the historian turned to Roker and put him on blast. “Um. Let me see. Al Roker!” he said. “I have begged him. He’d say yes, and then he called and said he changed his mind.” Season 10 kicked off with singers Ciara and Alanis Morissette tracing their histories,...

Today celebrated Al Roker’s 45 years with NBC today on the morning show. The beloved weathercaster was described as “the beating heart of this show” during the segment, as his colleagues noted he has set 7,047 wake-up alarms for 3:45 am, been on hand for 27 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, and contributed to the coverage of 13 Olympics.
A clearly moved Roker told his co-stars that it had been a “very good run”. “I really am very fortunate. Nobody gets to be somewhere this long without friends and people who help you and a team behind you. Nobody does it by themselves. It’s been a very good run,” he said.
They then cued up a throwback video of Roker’s long NBC career, opening with a segment on penguins at his first job with the network in 1978 at Wkyc in Cleveland, which was then an NBC owned and operated station.

Roker’s career with NBC began in 1978 at Wkyc in Cleveland, which at the time was an NBC owned-and-operated station. In late 1983, he was named the regular weeknight weathercaster at Wnbc-tv in New York, replacing 27-year veteran Dr. Frank Field. On Thursday morning, Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City was briefly disrupted by Pro-Palestinian protesters who wanted to call attention to the current Israel-Hamas war. They wore white jumpsuits and glued themselves to the ground.
The protesters gathered along Sixth Avenue, with banners that read phrases such as “Free Palestine” and “Liberation for Palestine and Planet.”
Various news outlets captured footage of the demonstration. The jumpsuits worn by the protesters were marked with the words “colonialism,” “capitalism” and “racism.”
The New York Police Department said 34 protesters were arrested. However, authorities did disclose that multiple individuals were taken into custody.
One of the protesters said, “I will not celebrate the genocide of thousands of children who are being bombed and buried under rubble. We have nothing to celebrate.”

Jared Leto is nothing if not an entertainer that goes all-in with a big swing — and Thursday morning may have been one of his biggest yet, as he climbed the Empire State Building.
As “Today” exclusively reported in the video above, the “Dallas Buyers Club” Oscar winner and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman got, well, closer to Mars while becoming the first person to legally summit the top of the Empire State Building.
Speaking with Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Carson Daly and co., Leto admitted after his descent that the journey was “very, very hard. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.”
“Just the endurance that it took, the stamina that it took — and it was very sharp,” he added.
The feat marked an impressive — albeit random — world record, as the 51-year-old Leto became the first person to legally scale the nearly 1,300-foot heights of the iconic building in midtown Manhattan.

Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and other music stars served as major sources of inspiration behind the Halloween costumes displayed on morning and daytime talk shows this year.
Three shows featured hosts dressing up as Swift, with Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, Live‘s Kelly Ripa and The Talk‘s Amanda Kloots all dressing as the superstar singer-songwriter, with the latter two also passing out friendship bracelets in an ode to Swift’s hit Eras tour.
Live With Kelly and Mark took the Swift inspiration one step further, dubbing their annual Halloween extravaganza The Eras Show as they looked back through different decades of pop culture and of Live‘s own onscreen Halloween celebrations. While Ripa and Consuelos kicked things off with their take on the Barbie movie, they doled out friendship bracelets in an homage to Swift and spoke about the Eras tour inspiration for their show.

For three decades, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios has been offering live terror experiences in Southern California and Florida — primarily via a series of mazes where the undead chase crowds with chain saws and scary movies come to life. Over decades, licensed characters like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees have haunted the studio backlot.
But on a recent Wednesday in October, the annual attraction was hosed down not with fake blood but a slew of corporate owner NBCUniversal’s intellectual property.
An entire house was erected to celebrate the catalog of Blum- house, the studio’s low-budget horror partner. A troupe of M3GAN robots busted out creepy dance moves every 10 minutes starting at 8 p.m. on the dot. Chucky dolls and the possessed children of “The Exorcist: Believer” spooked fans — as well as NBCU talent like Al Roker, who braved the attraction for a “Today” segment — on sound-...

Deborah Roberts has been named permanent co-anchor of ABC News’s 20/20, joining David Muir on the network’s flagship magazine program.
Roberts has been contributing anchor for the show for the past year. She succeeds Amy Robach, who departed the network in January after tabloid-headlined scrutiny of her relationship with T.J. Holmes, her co-host on GMA3, who also left the network.
Roberts also will continue to to report across network platforms as senior national affairs correspondent.
Roberts has been reporting for 20/20 since 1995, recruited by her mentor Barbara Walters to join the network. She reported across network news shows, and was a substitute anchor on Good Morning America and guest co-host on The View. The show is now in its 26th season.
ABC News president Kim Godwin wrote in a memo to employees that Roberts “is a skilled investigative journalist, oftentimes trekking across the country to conduct hard-hitting interviews providing viewers with relevant,...
