Alfred Schlageter was born on August 26, 1896 in Zurich, Switzerland. He was an actor, known for William Tell (1961), Die Spieler (1954) and The Divine Jetta (1937). He died on September 23, 1981 in Zurich.

Classically-trained, latterly white-maned and bearded Swiss character actor, often in dominant paternal roles. Film appearances sparse. Enjoyed long theatrical residencies in Leipzig (1918-44), Basel (1944-51) and Hamburg(51-54).
The actor Alfred Schlageter devoted completely to the theater but he also appeared in some movies time and again during his 50-years lasting acting career. Especially in the 20's he took part in several movies.
His film appearances became more seldom than before in the 20s and he shifted his activity more and more from Germany to Switzerland.
