Stage and screen character actor, the son of a hairdresser. In films of the 1930's and 40's, often seen as men of means or high rank. Made numerous voice-overs after the war, dubbing in German for English-speaking actors like Finlay Currie, Lionel Barrymore, Felix Aylmer and Cyril Delevanti.
