James McAvoy has been in the entertainment industry since he was a teenager. When he made his debut as an actor in The Near Room in 1995, he was not much interested in becoming an actor. However, that changed soon and he ended up going to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He graduated from the academy in 2000.

Since then, he has worked with numerous great directors such as Steven Spielberg and Matthew Vaughn. Long before he gained recognition with his roles in the X-Men film series and The Chronicles of Narnia, McAvoy appeared in the miniseries Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune. However, he refused to give any advice to Timothee Chalamet when his movie Dune was about to be released in 2021.

Directors can form deep bonds with their favorite books, leading to brilliant movie adaptations. Successful book-to-film adaptations can result in long-term collaborations between authors and directors. Renowned directors like Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese have taken inspiration from the same authors for multiple projects.
Some directors are able to tap into an author's style perfectly, and they make multiple adaptations of their work over the years. Authors don't always love their movie adaptations, and in some extreme cases they have sought to distance themselves from them. If an author finds a director who they feel they can trust with their work, then they might seek to establish a long-term collaboration. Conversely, directors who achieve success with an adaptation of a book will often look to the same author for inspiration for their next project.

Is everyone and their mother in “Deadpool & Wolverine”? Filmmaker Shawn Levy has hinted at cameos several times (as has filmmaker Matthew Vaughn), and so has ‘Deadpool’ actor Karan Soni. The expectation, in general, seems to be: expect a ton, with many speculating that the upcoming third ‘Deadpool’ movie will be a goodbye to the 20th Century Studios era of Marvel movie-making.

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is one of the highly awaited movies. The movie is going to see the Time Variance Authority pulling Deadpool from his quiet and peaceful life and sending him on a mission, which is going to change the history of the MCU with Wolverine.
Writer Rhett Reese describes the movie as a ‘fish-out-of-water’ story of a character who is trying to adjust to his newfound Marvel reality while still being a zany, outrageous character compared to the grounded characters of MCU. Deadpool 3 was reportedly being developed at 20th Century Fox but was put on hold after Disney acquired the studio in 2019. The original plotline of the movie has now been revealed.

After a weekend with the Oscars sharing the spotlight with the best one-two punch at the box office since July, the VOD and Netflix current home viewing charts lag in importance. “Argylle” (Universal) had a good launch on PVOD and “Damsel,” the kind of far-removed from awards thoughts Netflix original film, clicked with users immediately. Both bits of news are so below the radar that they have little relevance to how things stand in the industry.
“Argylle” — which Apple reportedly acquired for $200 million from “Kingsman” creator Matthew Vaughn and then released theatrically through Universal (with a gross of under $45 million) — came out on PVOD (for $19.99 rental) two weeks earlier than Apple’s earlier “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Napoleon.” And significantly, in doing so, delayed when their streaming subscribers gain access to it.

“It’s such a drama putting that suit on,” said Vinnie Jones, explaining why he turned down the chance to play Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Besides the title characters played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine will include a whole raft of superhero cameos from what we can gather (assuming superheroes hang around on rafts).
One actor who won’t be reprising a familiar role, though, is Vinnie Jones, last seen as Juggernaut in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Jones revealed that he’d been asked whether he fancied reprising his role as the heavyweight villain in this summer’s latest opus. But despite having an affection for 2016’s Deadpool, Jones turned the role down – due to the physical and mental toll of putting on the old costume again, and also because of his less-than-happy memories of making X-Men 3.

Vinnie Jones won't appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, despite loving the franchise and wanting to be involved. The X-Men: The Last Stand director switch led to Jones feeling upset and neglected in his role as Juggernaut. Even though Jones' version of Juggernaut won't be in the movie, anything can happen in the multiverse of Deadpool & Wolverine.
While there could be many unexpected cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, it seems that Vinnie Jones has no interest in being one of them. The Kingsman franchise can expand in multiple eras due to its origins and story The Kings Man story reveals important historical events involving the beginning of the Kingsman as a group. The impact of key characters like Orlando and Conrad shape the formation of the Kingsman organization.
Kingsman stretches potentially across a century of adventures and stories, due to the in-universe origins of the group. Based on the Millarworld comic series The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the cinematic version of the group was introduced in Matthew Vaughn's 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service. Although that film was fairly self-contained, it opened up a world of colorful violence, deadly espionage, and the forces pulling at the society of the 20th and 21st centuries that have been explored across multiple films.
The earliest establishing events for the organization occurred a full century before the events of the first film.

When it comes to Apple’s Hollywood ambitions, it’s all about spending big to win big.
On March 10, the tech giant has 13 shots to take home an Oscar via two historical epics, “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Napoleon,” which nabbed 10 and three nominations, respectively. That’s given Apple the second-biggest haul among the major studios and streamers, just behind Netflix’s 18 nods and tied with Universal and Searchlight.
But at what price? Sources say the Martin Scorsese-helmed “Killers” cost an eye-popping $215 million (that includes about $40 million in Covid-related costs). In fact, Apple spent at least $700 million to make and market just three films: “Killers,” Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” and Matthew Vaughn’s “Argylle.” The trio have earned a combined $466 million worldwide at the box office, with “Napoleon” leading the pack at $221 million, followed by “Killers” ($157 million) and “Argylle” ($88 million).
Apple isn’t complaining, at least not about “Killers” or “Napoleon.

Greenhouse has its two leads in place as Adam McKay looks to tackle global warming in his follow-up to 2021’s Don’t Look Up.
Adam McKay’s last film was the star-studded Netflix comedy drama Don’t Look Up. The film was widely viewed on the streaming platform and lots of folks enjoyed its satirical take on the way the human race might reasonably be expected to respond if an Extinction Level Event chanced to head in our general direction.
For one reason or another, however, Adam McKay’s plans for a further collaboration with Netflix were dropped. The Vice filmmaker had announced the serial killer comedy drama Average Height, Average Build as his next project. The cast had been named too, with Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr, Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler set to form the kind of starry ensemble that McKay was able to bring together for Don’t Look Up.

Do you know the truth behind the identity of Agent Argylle? Matthew Vaughn's action rom-com for Apple starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell first debuted in theaters on February 2, 2024, but the film is already going to be available to watch at home just over a month later. Centered around a reclusive, cat-loving author named Elly Conway (Howard), the woman finds herself at the center of an espionage thriller right out of the novels she's written when a real-life spy named Aidan (Rockwell) realizes that her books reflect the actions of an actual spy organization. The film itself has been extremely polarizing, with the majority of critics disliking the picture, although /Film's own Ethan Anderton aligned with the majority of audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and liked it quite a bit!

Monday Am Update: It looks like Dune: Part Two had an even spicier opening than expected, with Deadline reporting that the film actually ended up making a million bucks more over the weekend than anticipated. It’s adjusted weekend gross now stands at $82.5 million, meaning it had a bigger opening weekend than Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Will it end up crossing $300 million domestically? Word-of-mouth and time will tell!
Original Post: The final numbers are coming in, and Dune: Part Two is defying earlier predictions that it would open in the $75 million-ish range with a strong $81 million opening weekend. This is just slightly above what we predicted a few days ago. Why is it coming in so much higher than the trades predicted yesterday? The universally positive word of mouth (an A CinemaScore rating) propelled it to a stronger-than-expected Saturday night in sales. This, or course, is great news, with the...

Even though director Matthew Vaughn has been exclusively working in the big-budget franchise zone for over a decade, surely the performance of his last couple of films would raise some eyebrows. Vaughn’s latest, the franchise-starter/backdoor pilot Argylle, has had a particularly difficult time at the box office, and is about to wrap up its theatrical run just a month after its lackluster debut back in the first week of February.

Actor Henry Cavill has played many iconic roles in his filmography and has constantly been a part of multiple franchises. While Cavill’s most famous role might be Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dceu, he has also been the face of Netflix’s The Witcher and has a supporting role as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes. Cavill has also been a part of Mission Impossible: Fallout and has been a top contender for the role of James Bond. However, when he was asked which film he would choose to have as an introductory film for his filmography, Cavill did not choose any of his blockbuster films. He instead chose to go with Guy Ritchie’s disastrous The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

The big box office news story of the weekend was always going to be about the opening of Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi epic “Dune: Part Two” … and it was. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Famously delayed from its original November release due to the actors and writers strike, “Dune: Part Two” took advantage of the longer lead time to get the hot young cast of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh out and about to promote the film. What really helped greatly was the almost overwhelmingly positive critics’ reviews that declared “Part Two” to be better than “Part One.” The movie ended up with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, the best showing for a movie since the actual awards season in November and December.
Warner Bros. opened Villeneuve’s latest in 4,071 theaters with Thursday previews bringing in $12 million, including $2 million from earlier previews and $4.5 million of that amount coming from IMAX screens.

Sydney Sweeney’s latest monologue on Saturday Night Live proves that the stars of Madame Web are embarrassed by the film’s poor critical and commercial reception. However, debutante director S.J. Clarkson’s film has managed to crawl past the $80 million mark, which is reportedly the production budget of the film. By recouping its budget, the female-led film has now shamed another film that came out earlier this year with a star-studded cast — Argylle.

Henry Cavill’s film, produced by Apple, boasted a massive production budget of $200 million. However, its box office collection is struggling to reach even half that number. Madame Web may even cross the collection of Argylle in a few days, thus adding to its humiliation.

Matthew Vaughn plans to revitalize the Kick-Ass franchise with a new trilogy, leaving the future of Kick-Ass 3 uncertain. Kick-Ass 3's chances are dwindling due to Kick-Ass 2's underwhelming reception and difficulty with aging actors. The new reboot trilogy aims to recapture Kick-Ass's original success and could change the superhero genre once again.
Matthew Vaughn's plans for a new Kick-Ass reboot trilogy came as a surprise to many, and left the status of a potential Kick-Ass 3 uncertain. Kick-Ass 3 would have continued the story of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl, two young superheroes without powers. The director of Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn, now has plans to revitalize the franchise with a reboot trilogy. Vaughn's Kick-Ass reboot plans are confusing, though, and it doesn't currently seem like they include Kick-Ass 3.
The Kick-Ass reboot will be a new trilogy of movies, but the actual reboot of Kick-Ass itself will be the last film to be released of the three.

According to the upcoming film’s official U.S. copyright listing, Corrin will indeed be portraying the role of X-Men villain Cassandra Nova, which has long been the subject of speculation among fans. Created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely in 2001, Cassandra Nova was introduced in the comics as Professor X’s de facto twin sister, who’s hellbent on enacting revenge against Charles. Deadpool & Wolverine marks the first time that the mutant will be adapted into live-action. It will definitely be interesting to see how Cassandra will factor into the titular duo’s multiversal adventure. Like Professor X, she’s expected to have powerful telepathic abilities.

Argylle, which cost an estimated $200 million, has been in theaters for a full month. By the end of its fifth weekend, the movie's domestic total is projected to reach $43.8M, far below its $200M budget. The movie will almost definitely fail to reach its roughly $400 million break-even point, which could compromise promised follow-ups in the franchise.
The Argylle box office is still struggling after a month in theaters. The spy comedy stars Henry Cavill as the titular, and fictional, Agent Argylle, a character invented by author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who gets embroiled in a globetrotting adventure of her own. The movie has a reported budget of $200 million, which means that its break-even point is likely $400 million or more. Unfortunately for the movie, although it opened at No. 1, its inauspicious $17.4 million debut was a prelude to a disappointing box office run that has so far earned $88.5 million worldwide.

Matthew Vaughn's "The Stuntman" is part of the Kick-Ass universe. "The Stuntman" will focus on two brothers becoming stuntmen, possibly connecting to future violent missions in the Kick-Ass universe. The reboot may introduce new characters to join Kick-Ass in future movies, creating a diverse range of heroes and villains.
Matthew Vaughn is working on a new Kick-Ass movie, but this announcement, along with a previous update, makes his plans for Kick-Ass’ reboot trilogy even more confusing. The rise of the superhero genre made way for darker and more violent characters to get a chance on the big screen, and among them is Kick-Ass. The Matthew Vaughn-produced The Stuntman is the second in a new trilogy spun out of 2010’s superhero deconstruction, Kick-Ass.
Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle might not have landed in the manner that he’d have liked, but the filmmaker is already busying himself with his next big project. That will be a trilogy of films that are said to spin-off from Kick-Ass, Vaughn’s 2010 mayhem-filled satire of the superhero genre.
The first film in the trilogy is reportedly titled School Fight and focuses on ‘a teenager who fights with a classmate over a mutual romantic interest.’
That one was completed a while ago, with footage being shared as far back as 2022. As it stands though, we still don’t have a release date for the film, but we do know that it was directed by former stuntman Damien Walters, making his directorial debut. Walters also did some second unit directing on the aforementioned Argylle.

The next installment in the Kick-Ass franchise is finally moving along, with Variety reporting that The Stuntman has begun filming. More than a decade after the last movie in the series delivered explosive action on the big screen, Damien Walters directs a story about two brothers who become stuntmen. The filmmaker is an expert on the subject, considering he used to be a stuntman himself before sitting in the director's chair. And now, it's time for him to use his experience to bring the new story to life, with Matthew Vaughn producing what's meant to be the first chapter in the Kick-Ass trilogy.

Matthew Vaughn is already deep into producing his next feature film, a caper titled “The Stuntman,” Variety has learned.
Helmed by stunt performer turned director Damien Walters, the film tells the story of two brothers who both become stuntmen.
The feature, which is currently in production, comes from Vaughn’s Marv Studios banner along with Walters’ Zebbo Productions. Last October, they shot in Hampshire, where a local newspaper reported a “1970s-style fun fair” had been installed in the village park, complete with a helter skelter and ferris wheel.
“The Stuntman” is aiming for a launch at Toronto later this year or Sundance in 2025 and is part of a new “Kick-Ass” trilogy, according to Vaughn.
The first film of the trilogy, also produced by Vaughn and directed by Walters, was called “School Fight” and told the story of a teenager who gets into a fight with a love rival at school.
