Christian Bale's Long Hair In Amsterdam Explained

Christian Bale's Long Hair In Amsterdam Explained
Christian Bale has a unique look in David O. Russell’s 9th film, Amsterdam (2022), and his hair in particular has an interesting story behind it. Amsterdam stars Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington as three longtime friends embroiled in the historical Business Plot, a United States political conspiracy that occurred in 1933. Bale plays Burt Berendsen, a doctor and veteran of WWI which left him with a glass eye, a large scar across his face, and a back brace. Despite his injuries and constant pain, Burt has devoted himself to helping other injured veterans from the war, and he does so with gusto and vigor.

Amsterdam is the third collaboration between Russell and Bale. They first worked together on The Fighter (2010) where Bale plays real-life character Dicky Ecklund, a former boxer and drug addict, a role which earned Bale an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Their second movie, American Hustle

Why Netflix Canned Nancy Meyers’ $130 Million Rom-Com | Analysis
Twas the budget that killed Nancy Meyers’ latest romantic-comedy, one top talent representative told TheWrap.

Word dropped Tuesday afternoon that Netflix isn’t moving forward on “Paris Paramount,” a romantic comedy that was expected to star Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Michael Fassbender and Penelope Cruz about a filmmaking duo who reunite on set after falling in and out of love with one another. Meyers, who hasn’t directed a feature since Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro’s “The Intern,” wanted a budget of $150 million, while Netflix drew the line at $130 million, an insider told TheWrap.

“That sounds like too high of a budget for [Netflix],” a well-respected film director told TheWrap on what they would consider to be a medium-budget movie.

Nancy Meyers always has budget issues,” the top talent rep said.

With no residuals or back-end bonuses on the table to offset costs, $80 million of that budget would’ve gone to above-the-line expenses.

Is Amsterdam Based On A True Story? How Much Of The Plot Really Happened
Writer-director David O. Russell’s latest, Amsterdam, is about a trio of friends who are implicated in the murder of a US senator, and wind up unearthing a fascist plot. The film stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington, and features a star-studded supporting cast. Amsterdam purports that what happened in the film is based on true events — but what is the story based on and how much of the plot really happened?

Amsterdam’s characters had to contend with not only the murder of an old friend (which they were framed for) but of a bigger and far more nefarious plot than they could have ever imagined being involved in. Those Amsterdam main characters were at the center of it all without realizing until the end. But while Amsterdam ties up everything by its end, the fact that it is based on — or inspired by — real events

The 1 Reason Inception's Confusing Plot Worked (But Tenet's Didn't)

The 1 Reason Inception's Confusing Plot Worked (But Tenet's Didn't)
As they're both deep sci-fi thrillers from the same direction, the Inception vs Tenet debate will likely never end — but it's not as even a contest as first appears. Christopher Nolan's Inception works in spite of its confusing plot, while Tenet fails as a result of the same issue. Nolan worked on the screenplay for Inception for nine years, originally planning the project as a horror movie about dream stealers before finally selling it to Warner Bros. in its sci-fi, heist-thriller form. He diligently took his time rewriting the Inception script over and over to ensure that its main character's "emotional journey...was the driving force of the movie" (via Collider).

A decade after making Inception, Nolan took another stab at making a cerebral sci-fi thriller with Tenet. He spent over five years writing its script before he began pre-production on the film, though he claims to have dwelled

Overall, the 23 Broadway shows on the boards last week held steady with the previous week, grossing 25,705,039, with attendance of 206,578 at about 94 of capacity. Even Veterans Like Leonardo DiCaprio And Guy Pearce Are Confused By Christopher Nolan's Scripts

Even Veterans Like Leonardo DiCaprio And Guy Pearce Are Confused By Christopher Nolan's Scripts
In Christopher Nolan's 2010 film "Inception," Leonardo DiCaprio plays a character named Dom Cobb who works for a mysterious spy organization with the ability to infiltrate other people's dreams. Using a bizarre, suitcase-sized device, he and his fellow suit-wearing agents can enter into a surreal dream space where time moves differently (a few hours in the dream world is but a few minutes in the waking world). Also, when in Dreamland, the agents are subject to the whims of the dreamers, and cities have the ability to fold over without notice. Also, one's own bad memories, traumas, and nightmares can, if one doesn't concentrate on the mission, step in to interrupt. Also, one needs a unique totem in their pocket -- something oddly shaped and heavy to handle -- in order to remind them that they are in the dream world or in the waking world, since one can easily lose track.

Taylor Swift's Amsterdam Role, Explained

Taylor Swift's Amsterdam Role, Explained
2022 was an interesting year for Taylor Swift as she appeared in David O Russell's Amsterdam as a brief but integral character. While the period drama-comedy failed to make a mark at the box office or garner any critical love, Swift's special role was much talked about, even becoming the subject of several memes. Her casting and the reactions that it generated also went on to show the impact that Swift has on pop culture.

Swift isn't the only high-profile star in Amsterdam. The talented ensemble is led by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington with the likes of Chris Rock, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldaña, and Anya Taylor-Joy appearing in the supporting cast. With the plot loosely based on an unbelievably true story from the 1930s, Amsterdam plays out as a murder mystery with the three lead characters following a trail of clues in a post-Depression era New York.

Tenet Is at Its Best as a Buddy Movie

Tenet Is at Its Best as a Buddy Movie
Even before its release in 2020, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet had already been established as one of the most controversial films of the new decade. The first big debate surrounding the film regarded the method of its release, with some celebrating Nolan’s insistence that Tenet be screened in theaters before being made available for streaming, while others criticized this decision for ignoring the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic, which at the time was at the height of its intensity. Once Tenet came out, opinions split even further over the film’s actual content and artistic merit. Supporters praised Nolan for continuing to make massive action blockbusters not based on established intellectual property and relying more on practical stunt and visual effects work rather than CGI. Detractors critiqued the film’s unique time travel plot, labeling it convoluted, with many also noting that the decision to include expository dialogue during scenes

John David Washington Talks About His Connection To ‘The Piano Lesson’, Differences He Discovered Between Film And Theater, And His Upcoming Project With Gareth Edwards – The Deadline Q&a
On my way down to Tribeca to meet actor John David Washington for lunch, I had a lot of questions swirling in my head that made me nervous about our encounter. I am meeting a man who comes from a Hollywood dynasty of sorts. Washington has had so many experiences, what questions could I possibly ask that would make our conversation relatable and engaging. John David is the oldest of four children and his parents are two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington and actress/singer Pauletta Washington.

At the age of seven, he appeared as a student in a Harlem classroom in Spike Lee’s 1992 feature film Malcolm X, which starred his father in the titular role. As he grew older, his interest shifted to something a bit more physical. He started his professional football career at Morehouse College in Atlanta, and then signed on with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.
