10 Scream Memes That Are Too Hilarious For Words

"What's your favorite scary movie?" 1996's meta-horror classic Scream influenced generations of scary movie fans. Horror icon Wes Craven revived the slasher genre in the '90s and beyond with his story about high school student Sidney Prescott and her friends being targeted by a masked, knife-yielding slayer in a thin black cloak. Through four feature films and an anthology TV series, the latter of which updates the killer's mask, the Scream universe has remained relevant.

The masked killer has developed quite a reputation. Ghostface, whose mask was designed specially by Wes Craven and Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson, is inspired by the famous Edvard Munch painting The Scream. What was supposed to be a terrifying horror villain, though, has been transformed into a parody courtesy of meme culture and spin-offs like Scary Movie.

Below are ten of the most hilarious memes about Scream and its lead antagonist, Ghostface.

Halloween H20 Deleted Scene Would’ve Kept Jamie Lloyd Canon

A deleted scene from Halloween H20 revealed an early intention to keep Jamie Lloyd canon after the series brought back Laurie Strode.

Until this seventh entry in the long-running slasher saga, Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie had been absent from the franchise since its second installment. The third was narratively unconnected and by the time the fourth was in production, she’d established herself beyond the horror movies with which she began her career, and so declined to return.

In her place was created the character of Laurie’s daughter Jamie, while Laurie was written out by mention of her having died in a car crash. As Michael Myers’ niece, Jamie became relentlessly hunted by him, and is central to the events of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, before being brutally killed early in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Scream Reboot to Bring Back Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox & David Arquette?

  • MovieWeb
A week or so ago now, we passed along word that Spyglass has snagged up the rights to Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson's classic slasher series Scream and are planning a new film as we speak. And if that wasn't cool enough, today we're hearing that the producers of Scream 5 are apparently hoping to convince the franchise's original stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette to return once more as their classic characters Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Sheriff Dewey Riley.

While this development isn't 100% confirmed just yet, I can only imagine that this is the direction the powers that be behind the scenes of this Scream sequel or reboot will be looking to take. After all, it sure as hell did wonders for Blumhouse's reboot/sequel of John Carpenter's slasher classic Halloween to bring back Jamie Lee Curtis. That said, I don't know if names such as Neve Campbell,

Ghostface Will Reportedly Return For More Terror in Scream 5

  • Popsugar
Halloween has already passed, but that doesn't mean the scares are over - Scream 5 is reportedly in early development at Spyglass, according to Deadline, which confirmed the news. Are you prepared for more Ghostface?

Any details about a director, the cast, or even who's writing the film are still very much under wraps, as is any clarification if it's a prequel, reboot, or sequel. If it's the latter, personally we'd love to see Neve Campbell return if the new take on the classic slasher series - the brainchild of the late Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson - can figure out a good way to have her hand the reins over to a different crop of stars.

If you're not a fan of the franchise, Campbell starred as ultimate final girl Sidney Prescott in the 1996 original and reprised her character in the subsequent three sequels (along with Courteney Cox's

Since then, it has spawned multiple […]

‘Scream 5’ In Early Development At Spyglass Media Group

  • Deadline
We’ve confirmed that a Scream 5 is in the works at Spyglass, which picked up the Dimension library after joining forces with Lantern Entertainment back in March.

No details yet who will direct or write the next film, a franchise that was hatched by the late Wes Craven and scribe Kevin Williamson. Ditto whether any of the old cast — i.e. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Rose McGowan — is coming back. Also we don’t know if it’s a prequel, a reboot or sequel. But that would be cool if they brought Barrymore back for a full film after she was in the opening scene of the 1996 original pic. All will be unveiled soon.

The four movies racked up more than $604M, and the TV series on MTV ran 29 episodes across three seasons.

Bloody Disgusting first had the news.

New Scream Movie Will Bring Ghostface Back to the Big Screen

  • MovieWeb
Ghostface is making a comeback. A new Scream movie is in the works, though it isn't known if this will officially be known as Scream 5 or if it's a reboot of the franchise. At present, details on the project are quite scarce, but after nearly a decade this iconic horror franchise is getting ready to make a return to the big screen, providing meta scares for a new generation. Will it be the same without franchise creator and horror master Wes Craven? That will be a lingering big question.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Spyglass Media Group has acquired the rights to the Scream franchise. The company, which was relaunched as a content company earlier this year, managed to secure the rights following the Harvey Weinstein fallout. Weinstein's Dimension Films had produced all of the previous movies and Lantern Entertainment acquired the studio's assets after the studio filed bankruptcy. Spyglass, it would seem,

Scream 5 Reportedly in the Works

Kirsten Howard Nov 7, 2019

Ghostface might be coming back for one last scare, as Scream 5 is reportedly in the works.

A new Scream movie is in development at Spyglass Media Group, according to a new report. Spyglass is the outfit that teamed up with Lantern Entertainment a while back when Lantern bought The Weinstein Company and Dimension's IP at a favorable rate after sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein threw his company into bankruptcy.

Spyglass recently announced that it planned to reboot Hellraiser with David S. Goyer, and now Bloody Disgusting says that a Scream revival is also in the works. Kevin Williamson, who wrote three of the original four films, is apparently not involved with this fifth outing.

Though Scream's instantly recognizable killer Ghostface did return for an MTV TV series, which put out a reduced third season this past summer, the Scream film franchise retired after Scream 4,
