Montreal, Quebec | July 18 – August 4, 2024
The Fantasia International Film Festival will celebrate its upcoming 28th edition with an electrifying program of screenings, workshops, and launch events running from July 18 through August 4, 2024, returning yet again at the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas, with additional screens and events at Montreal's Cinémathèque québécoise and Cinéma du Musée.
The festival's full lineup will be announced on July 3, but in the meantime, Fantasia has unveiled a select first wave of premiere titles, along with a first look at its 2024 poster art created by Montreal visual artist Donald Caron.

Irrfan Khan’s swansong, ‘The Song of Scorpions’, will open on April 28 theatrically, as a salute to the great actor who passed away on April 29, 2020. Presented by Panorama Spotlight and 70mm Talkies, it’s A Feather Light Films and Knm Production. Sowmya RajendranMarakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is Priyadarshan's ambitious film on Kunjali Marakkar, a warrior who fought in the army of the Zamorin in 16th century Kozhikode and was instrumental in defending the coast from the Portuguese. The details about his life are sketchy, and this is something that the film acknowledges right at the beginning. What unfolds, therefore, isn't entirely an accurate rendering of history but a fictional account that takes inspiration from several other stories of war, betrayal, loyalty and grandeur.
