Stunning. The Academy has taken a bold move and commissioned, in conjunction with Gallery1988 in Los Angeles, a special series of artwork/posters for the nine 2013 Best Picture nominees. Together they found nine different artists to create a piece for each movie, and the results are impressive. Oscar.com (via Collider) has posted the full gallery of all nine prints, with artists, including popular names like Phantom City Creative (Les Mis), Matt Owen (Amour), Rich Kelly (Beasts), Tom Whalen (Life of Pi). Overall, these turned out kind of amazing, and I wish I could even get my hands on a copy of one print. See all below. First is Michael Haneke's depressing drama Amour, with art by Matt Owen (website). 18x24 screen print. Next is Ben Affleck's dark horse drama Argo, with art by Anthony Petrie (website). 18x24 screen print. Love Benh Zeitlin's Beasts of the Southern Wild,...

Universal has taken The Bourne Legacy to Comic Con where a new retro poster from artist Matt Owen (via G1988) that immediately made me think of the Criterion cover for Charade. Only 200 copies of the poster were made and will be handed out to Comic Con attendees who follow @OperationIntel on Twitter. In addition to that several TV spots for the film have arrived online and I've included three of them below. The first two have been around for some time, but the third one is new and runs 60-seconds. The Bourne Legacy is set to hit theaters on August 10 and introduces us to a new character in the franchise played by Jeremy Renner whose life is thrown upside down as a result of the events of the first three films. Though they moved the date back a week in anticipation of the latest Batman film, the makers of the Bourne Legacy aren’t afraid to show off their new summer blockbuster, putting out both a new extended tv spot and a new poster this week in anticipation of the latest chapter in the Bourne universe. Check them out below.
Though I did love the first poster‘s puzzle piece appearance, I’m a huge fan of the minimalist movie promotion routine and the new Comic-Con poster from Los Angeles’ Gallery 1988 and artist Matt Owen is nothing short of stunning. The reference to Jeremy Renner‘s awesome leap down the narrow gap between two buildings in the movie is especially great. Excellent work.

Jason Reitman has aimed his sights at reinterpreting a new classic: Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs.
After re-creating The Breakfast Club, The Apartment, The Princess Bride, and Shampoo in a series of Los Angeles staged readings, Reitman has selected the 1992 crime saga for his latest one-time-only live performance with a new cast.
And there’s a big switch in store for Mr. Blonde, Mr. Pink, Mr. White, Mr. Orange and the rest of the diamond-heist crew.
“We’re changing the race of the entire cast,” Reitman says.

Paramount Pictures is going through great lengths to make sure you know that Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol is coming five days early in IMAX by releasing an exclusive poster for those attend the midnight screening for the movie. IGN debuted the new poster for the fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, which comes from Matt Owen. So if you are going to watch Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol midnight Friday, then be prepared to get a poster, because according to the site, anyone attending will be getting this exclusive poster. As you can see, the poster features the movie’s most vital set piece: Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, which also acts as the Mission: Impossible fuse. This cool for anyone who collects movie poster or posters of any kind.

If only we could make the theme music play, too. For those of you attending a midnight IMAX show of Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol this week, Paramount has a treat for you. IGN has debuted a minimalistic art poster designed by Matt Owen (through Gallery1988) specifically for the midnight IMAX openings, and apparently "anyone attending" the midnight IMAX events can/will get one of these - sweet!
