Netflix’s “Sex Education” is in session for one last season. Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and more return for the fourth and final installment of the heartwarming and intimate dramedy series. The Moordale Secondary School crew face a whole new school year at Cavendish College, where most of them have transferred after the shut-down of their previous stomping grounds, run into the ground by Jemima Kirke’s Headmistress Hope Haddon.
While Otis, Eric, Viv, Jackson, Ruby, Aimee, Isaac and more have to navigate a new social scene at Cavendish, Maeve is across the pond in America taking a fancy writing seminar class. Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) has left school completely. Unfortunately, some staple characters from previous seasons such as Anwar Bakshi (Chaneil Kular) and Olivia Hanan (Simone Ashley) or Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison) and Lily Iglehart (Tanya Reynolds) won’t return this season,...

Since it premiered in 2019, "Sex Education" has solidified itself as one of the sweetest and purest shows on TV, despite its focus on a slate of sex-obsessed teenagers. This marvelous feat and the show's overall success has many fans wondering why it was canceled after four seasons.
Season four, which premieres on Netflix on Sept. 21, finds the show's primary protagonists beginning a new chapter of their lives. Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve (Emma Mackey) are trying out a long-distance relationship since Maeve is attending school in America. Otis, Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), and the rest of the lead cast are figuring things out at a new school. Meanwhile, Jean (Gillian Anderson) is navigating motherhood and challenging relationships, including a strained bond with Otis.
Season four will also welcome a number of new characters, including "Schitt's Creek" star Dan Levy, who will play Maeve's tutor. Here's everything we know about why the...

The trailer for the final season of "Sex Education" is here. Netflix released the full trailer on Sept. 12, and soundtracked the new footage with Meatloaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)." In the trailer, the Moordale gang tries to settle into their new school, all while grappling with love, relationships, and sex toys. Netflix confirmed the hit series would be ending after season four back in July, when they released the season's teaser trailer. Netflix then released first-look photos on Aug. 2, teasing the ensemble cast's return to their high school dramedy.
Creator Laurie Nunn told Netflix's Tudum she wasn't certain that season four would be the last when she and the writers began crafting it, but "during that process, it just started to feel very clear that the stories were coming to an end, the characters were being left in a place that I felt really good about it.

The Season 4 trailer alone will get you in your feelings as Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve (Emma Mackey) are finally a thing, Jean (Gillian Anderson) is back to being a single mom, and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) preaches the importance of self-love. Sex Education Season 4 premieres Thursday, September 21, on Netflix, and consists of eight episodes. And the trailer answers one of the biggest questions left behind in the Season 3 finale, which dropped the bombshell that Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt) was not the father of baby Joy. Jacob has left Jean in the trailer, making her a single mom once more. And she struggles to give the same attention to Otis as she tends to infant Joy. The trailer opens with Maeve sending a sexy photo to Otis, who panics when trying to ...

Netflix's "Sex Education" is what you might call an incubator for young talent. The zany, inventive high school dramedy boasts one of the most talented casts on television today, and watching their stars rise these past four years has been immeasurably heart-warming. One of the most exciting "Sex Education" breakouts has to be Emma Mackey, who's been making a steady transition from streaming to film with roles in "Death on the Nile" and Greta Gerwig's "Barbie." She's also the latest actor to take home the Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs, so it's safe to say she's got a bright future ahead of her. Sadly though, it seems like "Sex Education" won't be a part of that future for Mackey.
The actor fielded questions about "Sex Education" — and whether she'd be returning for a fifth season — during the BAFTAs. "Season 5? I've just finished the fourth one last week!

Sex Education has lost another cast member.
The hit Netflix series lost many stars ahead of production on the fourth season.
But, with production completed, more cast members are announcing they won't be back for a potential fifth season.
Emma Mackey revealed to RadioTimes Sunday after winning the BAFTA Award for Rising Star that her time on the series was over.
"Season 5? I've just finished the fourth one last week!" Mackey explained, adding the following:
"No, I don't think I'll be in season 5. I've said goodbye to Maeve."
The actress previously teased that she wouldn't be as prominent in the fourth season.
"It feels very familiar! And it's a bit more sporadic because we have more characters. So there's… I'm not in it as consistently," Mackey said.
"But we're in the middle of filming now, and I'm excited to be back," she added at the time.

A Sex Education star has been left feeling sad by the departure of a main cast member.
Netflix’s hit comedy-drama recently completed filming its fourth season.
Things will look a little different than usual as some of the main characters, including Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), will be moving to a new college.
This means that many supporting characters will not be a part of the new series. However, at the end of season four, one of the main characters will also be leaving the show.
Gatwa, alongside a photo of his character’s name, wrote on Instagram earlier this week: “Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength.”
His departure is perhaps less surprising considering he was announced as the new lead star of Doctor Who in 2021. Following Russell T Davies’ anniversary episodes, in which David Tennant and Catherine Tate will return,...

Sex Education has been one of Netflix's best shows since its launch in 2019.
The cast was impeccable, but the person holding the show together was Ncuti Gatwa's Eric Effiong.
Gatwa took to social media this week with a shocking announcement:
He's filmed his final scenes on the hit series.
"Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength," Gatwa shared in a caption on Instagram for a photo of his trailer while filming.

We hear you, Aimee, because we feel the same way.
While Gatwa's time on Sex Education is almost over, the actor has an exciting new role coming your way later this year.
The BBC announced last year he would headline the latest revamp of Doctor Who.

It’s official, Millie Gibson is the new Doctor Who companion who’ll be travelling through space and time with Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor in Series 14. The 18-year-old actor is best known for playing the role of series regular Kelly Neelan in ITV soap Coronation Street, and if you want to feel old, was born just one year before the sci-fi show returned to television in 2005. It's been almost a year since we got our last "Sex Education" fix and fans are hungry for more. The British dramedy follows the lives and loves of students at Moordale Secondary School and as the title suggests, it never shies away from all the drama that goes hand in hand with sexual intimacy. Everything is life and death when you're a teenager and "Sex Education" embraces all the awkwardness, anxiety, and humor so inextricably linked to those years -- and it's all set to an amazing soundtrack. The show may be hilarious, but it also has a ton of heart. Honestly, it's absolutely delightful and if you're reading this, chances are, like me, you can't wait to see more.
The series has grown quite a bit since the early days when it mainly revolved around Otis' (Asa Butterfield) burgeoning business venture as a secret sex therapist for his fellow students.

"Tell him he's a good boy," she says, after a long list of other instructions. Not so much casting a shadow as of one, a small black creature. She's not got much experience with dogs, the dog sitter. "Perfect," he says.
So, or at least close to it, is the film. Small space, smaller antagonist. High tension, even some low humour. Lower angles too, the camera behind those ears. Looking out from above that empty brow. Not just the visual, though plenty of wit and skill in that. Patricia Allison brings a physicality to a role that requires it, ennui, caution, violence.
Eros Vlahos has crafted a film that's a dry treat. Meaty and crisp. The terrors of the notionally domesticated run as wild as wolves, but you don't need to drop a hint as heavy as three boxes of Transylvanian soil to suggest that there's something more super- than natural at.
