Rumors have been swirling for months that ABC won’t air Bachelor In Paradise this year. Now fans caught another clue that it has been canceled. Keep reading for all the latest details on Season 10 of the popular spinoff.
ABC Adds Two Bachelor Nation Shows To 2024 Schedule
The Bachelor franchise has been a staple on ABC since 2002. As its popularity grew, the network expanded to include several spinoffs, such as The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, Winter Games, Listen To Your Heart, and Bachelor In Paradise. Some only lasted a season or two while others have been around for years.
The franchise bet on the older generation in 2023 with the first-ever Golden Bachelor spinoff featuring Gerry Turner, 72, and women in their 60s or older. The spinoff was such a success that the network announced a Golden Bachelorette season this fall.
The news came in February at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.

When confronted with inquiries about the show's controversial racial issues, The Bachelor producers struggled to maintain their composure. The resulting awkwardness has caused fans to question the integrity of the once-beloved reality television franchise. At an ABC panel during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, NPR's TV critic Eric Deggans posed a thought-provoking question to the show's executive producers, Jason Elrich, Claire Freeland, and Bennett Graebner. Eric Deggans asked, "Why does it seem like The Bachelor has such a hard time dealing with racial issues? And have you learned anything from these past scandals that have led to the departure of Chris Harrison?" The producers seemed ill-prepared to tackle such a significant question.

The Bachelor franchise has historically struggled with issues of race, with people of color being largely underrepresented. The executive producers of the show failed to provide a satisfactory response when questioned about these racial controversies. The Bachelor's silence and mishandling of racial issues is nothing new, as seen in their handling of past problematic behavior.
The Bachelor has been called out for some issues the series has faced in the past with race, but their response was underwhelming to fans and all around awkward. Throughout the duration of The Bachelor franchise, there has been an undercurrent of tension regarding the show’s stance on race. People of color were not featured in the franchise’s early days. It took until The Bachelorette season 13 to feature a lead of color, Rachel Lindsay, and until The Bachelor season 25 to feature man of color, Matt James. Judging from the reports coming from ABC’s panel yesterday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, it seems you could have heard a pin drop after the producers of The Bachelor were asked about the reality franchise’s racial issues. Eric Deggans, a media analyst and TV critic for NPR, put the question to Bachelor producers Bennett Graebner, Jason Ehrlich, and Claire Freeland, noting frustrations regarding Rachel Lindsay’s Bachelorette season and Matt James’ Bachelor edition, per Decider. Deggans also mentioned ex-host Chris Harrison’s dramatic exit from the franchise. “Why does it seem that The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have such a hard time dealing with racial issues?” Deggans asked the producers at Saturday’s panel, per TVLine. “Have you learned anything from these past scandals that led to the departure of Chris Harrison?” Paras Griffin/Getty Images for Tyler Perry Studios (For context, Lindsay, pictured above,...

Update: Following the panel, the producers spoke with Decider about what had happened on stage. “I was there for Matt James’ season. I was there for Rachel Lindsay’s season. I was also there for Michelle Young’s season, Tayshia Adams’ season, Charity Lawson’s season,” Graebner said. “I think as stewards of this franchise, which has been such a part of the cultural zeitgeist for over two decades, there’s a tremendous responsibility to have conversations on camera that are difficult and challenging — conversations about race, conversations about class, conversations about gender. We have done that. Have we always done it perfectly? No. We’ve certainly made some mistakes along the way. But moving forward we’re going to do everything in our power to correct this.”

The Bachelor producers were faced with a tough question about the franchise’s history of issues surrounding race during an ABC panel at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
“Why does it seem like The Bachelor has such a hard time dealing with racial issues? And have you learned anything from these past scandals that have led to the departure of Chris Harrison?” Eric Deggans, a TV critics and media analyst from NPR, asked executive producers Bennett Graebner, Jason Erlich and Claire Freeland.

“The Bachelor” producers were left speechless when asked why the ABC dating show seems to struggle with race during seasons headlined by Black leads.
The question was asked during a panel for ABC’s unscripted television programming during the Television Critics Association’s 2024 winter tour. Eric Deggans, a TV critic and media analyst for NPR, referenced Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor,” which eventually led to Chris Harrison stepping down as the series’ longtime host and featured a conversation with James’ father that the reality star has said was “troubling” and “painful,” and that was criticized by former “Bachelorette” lead Rachel Lindsay. Harrison stepped away from the franchise after defending a contestant who attended a plantation-themed fraternity formal on social media. James was the first Black Bachelor in the history of the long-running reality show.
Initially, when asked why the franchise has struggled with race, producer Claire Freeland fielded the question.

After hosting The Bachelor for 19 years, Chris Harrison left the ABC franchise in 2021 following controversial remarks he made defending Season 25 contestant Rachel Kirkconnell for attending an antebellum South-themed fraternity party in 2019. Luckily, Bachelor fans were not left to wonder who would host their beloved show for long, because former Season 5 Bachelor Jesse Palmer gladly stepped into the position. This retired NFL player first began his hosting duties during Season 26 when Clayton Echard was the leading man in 2021. Since then, Jesse has gone on to host the show’s spinoffs as well, including The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Golden Bachelor. It’s clear that Bachelor Nation loves seeing Jesse as the show’s new host, but the real question on everyone’s mind is… How much is he getting paid? As of right now, Jesse’s salary is unknown. More than two years ago, Harrison stepped away from the franchise following backlash for defending Season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who had received her own share of criticism for attending an antebellum-themed party in college.
Now, during an interview on Bachelorette alum Jason Tartick’s podcast, he said he still views the show as “a blessing,” though he also admits it was a “toxic situation” toward the end.
“I still look at this as a blessing in my life. It was hard at first. ABC’s Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner commented on an exposé released this week that detailed his less-than-golden relationship past.
Turner was asked about the story by reporters while doing interviews for the hit reality show, which aired its season finale Thursday night. The Hollywood Reporter’s story, which ran one day ahead of the finale, detailed how the first Golden Bachelor’s past was a bit different than what’s been presented on the show. For instance, Turner had claimed that he hadn’t dated since his wife’s tragic death in 2017, but a former girlfriend disputed this. The woman identified only as “Carolyn” says she dated Turner for 10 months and lived with him in his Indiana home. She said Turner broke up with her because of her weight. The story also noted that the reality show portrayed him as a retired restaurateur but didn’t note he sold...

The 52-year-old former Bachelor host and his 35-year-old producer partner tied the knot two times in the last month. They said “I do” in Napa Valley, Calif. on October 14 and celebrated a second time on November 4 in Austin, Texas, according to People.
They newlyweds opened up about their nuptials in an interview with the publication.
“As much as we wanted an intimate weekend for our wedding ceremony in Napa, we also wanted to celebrate getting married with all the great friends we have — hence this bigger party,” Lauren explained about the decision to double up.
She continued, adding, “Doing the second event in Austin [where the couple lives full-time] gave us the ability to include all of our friends, and also made sure that we didn’t leave our wedding feeling...

Chris Harrison and Lauren Zima are married.
The former host of The Bachelor and its spinoffs, including The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, wed the producer Oct. 14 in Napa Valley, Calif., and again on Nov. 4 in Austin, Texas, where the couple live, People reported. The couple also each posted a photo on Instagram. “We’re married ❤️ Let the journey begin…” Zima wrote in her post.
They described the Napa Valley nuptials as an “emotional” and “jubilant” ceremony that was more intimate, with just family and their closest friends, while the Austin celebration was more of a “blowout bash” where they expanded the guest list to include several Bachelor franchise alums, including Wells Adams and Sarah Hyland, Ben and Jessica Higgins, Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham, Sean and Catherine Lowe, JoJo Fletcher, Trista Sutter, Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Dancing With the Stars alum Cheryl Burke has revealed she had high hopes of starring in The Bachelorette, but the show’s bosses told her that then-host Chris Harrison “blocked” her from being cast. And the reason behind it was even more shocking. Burke spoke to Harrison about it when she joined him on his latest episode of The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison, revealing what she’d allegedly been told by producers. “I heard you blocked that,” she said (per People), referring to why she never got cast on the Bachelorette. “Did you not?” Harrison seemed surprised but denied doing such a thing, saying, “No. They put that on me. Yeah, like I have that much power… like I have the power to decide who the Bachelor [or] Bachelorette is.” “I’m not kidding… I think they blamed it on you, absolutely,” Burke replied, adding that executives allegedly...

If you're not already watching "The Golden Bachelor," consider this your sign to hop on the bandwagon immediately. I was initially hesitant to start the ABC dating series, which follows 72-year-old Gerry Turner's journey as the Bachelor franchise's oldest leading man. But after weekly pleas from a coworker, I finally pressed play on the premiere, and I'm so glad I did.
My reluctance to start "The Golden Bachelor" primarily stemmed from my love-hate relationship with the Bachelor franchise as a whole. I spent more hours than I'd like to admit watching everyone from Rachel Lindsay to Peter Weber fall in love, but I stopped tuning in two years ago after becoming fed up with the show's continuous controversies and watching former host Chris Harrison try to sweep racism under the rug. Also, I'll be real: the idea of a senior citizen dating show just didn't sound appealing to me at first.

It’s 6:34 a.m., and the sun is rising as Gerry Turner hands out his final rose of the night. His bedtime came and went long ago. Giddy producers are watching him from a control room, 11 hours into an overnight shoot that’s not done yet.
Turner isn’t exactly a night owl. Typically at this time, the 72-year-old would just be waking up to fry some bacon and eggs. His day might then include a jog around the lake, or perhaps a game of pickleball.
But on a summer night at a mansion in the hills above Malibu, Calif., Turner has been speed-dating 22 women who’d arrived in limousines to meet him. His teenage granddaughters had helped him choose the perfect tuxedo, so he would look his best. After all, their grandpa was about to make his debut on “The Golden Bachelor,” the first-ever senior citizen dating show,...

Tragic deaths have occurred among the contestants of The Bachelorette, including Eric Hill who died in a paragliding accident during filming. The Bachelorette stars Tyler Gwozdz and Clint Arlis passed away, from a possible drug overdose and unknown causes. The passing of these contestants has brought the Bachelor Nation community together, who show their support through social media.
The Bachelorette has had a lot of contestants on the show throughout the years, but three of the men suffered tragic deaths, including Eric Hill. The Bachelor franchise spinoff aims to give a large group of men an opportunity to meet an eligible Bachelorette by going on various dates, from the Fantasy Suite to the infamous hometown dates. Even if some of the men aren't given a final rose from The Bachelorette lead, some of them become famous after appearing on the show, and even make a comeback on Bachelor In Paradise.

Since January 2022, Jesse Palmer has fronted ABC’s lucrative “Bachelor” franchise as host of the flagship reality show as well as offshoots “The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor in Paradise” and the upcoming “The Golden Bachelor.” After taking the reins from Chris Harrison, who was ousted in 2021 after facing criticism for defending a contestant accused of racism, the former NFL quarterback and ESPN college football analyst has helped expand the show’s female-skewing audience to include more men.
“I have this theory that the dirty little secret in Bachelor Nation was that men were always watching anyway,” says Palmer. “They just never wanted to admit it.”
In fact, football is often on the brain for the former University of Florida standout, who will be showing his Gator pride Friday for College Colors Day, the faux holiday spawned by licensing leader Clc.

The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner revealed that his daughters may end up watching the series between their fingers.
Turner recently joked that his daughters are well acquainted with what goes down on reality television shows that focus on dating. And they have told him to keep everything G-rated while he’s on the series – this includes kissing on camera.
“That they said absolutely none of that. They said don’t do it,” he told Et. But he said that he’s“been ignoring that part of the advice.”
He also laughed about what will go on inside the Fantasy Suite. “I just think that a Fantasy Suite for someone of my age may look quite different,” he said. “The activities could be quite different than for someone in their 20s and 30s.”
So what advice has Turner been taking to heart and what does he think his late wife Toni would think?...

Arie Luyendyk Jr. knew that breaking up with Becca Kufrin would blow up The Bachelor Season 22. After giving her the final rose, Luyendyk shocked Bachelor Nation when he told Kufrin he wanted to break off their engagement – one of the most brutal moments in reality TV.
The series was dragged for filming Kufrin’s raw and emotional reaction to being dumped on national television. Luyendyk was vilified.
He knew that he would be hit hard on social media and Bachelor host Chris Harrison warned him how damaging a breakup like this could be to his career.

Bethenny Frankel has enlisted two of the most high-profile attorneys in Hollywood to help in her self-proclaimed fight to help protect reality stars from what she says is exploitation by networks and studios.
Power players Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos are now working alongside Frankel to investigate the treatment of reality stars.
Freedman tells me that he has heard from roughly 50 reality show cast members from various docuseries and competition shows who believe that they were “used and unfairly” treated by television networks and streamers.
“Something has to change because the current system is broken,” Geragos says.
Frankel’s quest comes amid the writers and actors strike that has effectively shut down Hollywood. Reality TV can still be produced during the double strike, and most networks will be heavily relying on unscripted programming this fall. When “The Bachelorette” returns on Monday night with its milestone 20th season, the franchise will continue to make history with leading lady Charity Lawson.

The Bachelor franchise is controversial, but until recently, some behind-the-scenes drama remained under wraps. The most exciting news to come out of the franchise lately was the announcement that Charity Lawson would be cast in The Bachelorette season 20. He's been an executive producer on the spin-off shows Bachelor Pad, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor: Winter Games. Chris Harrison didn’t hold back about how he views The Bachelor creator and former executive producer Mike Fleiss in the latest episode of his podcast.
The April 9 episode of The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever featured a conversation with former The Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King. Toward the end of the episode, she asked Harrison if he believed there to be any narcissists within the Bachelor franchise.
“The creator of the show was — severely,” he replied. “One of the toughest things about narcissism is you will never, I don’t want to say never, but very rarely, will that person ever recognize that about themselves.”
He continued, “I was talking to one therapist about narcissism and she said, ‘I’m just warning you that next to a homicidal maniac, narcissism is the toughest thing to treat.’ That to have someone self-realize and actually fix that is next to impossible.
