The concept of the Kevin Smith horror movie Tusk came out of an episode of Smith’s SModcast podcast in which he and his co-host Scott Mosier started out joking about the idea of a walrus-themed body horror movie and then, in the midst of the banter, Smith was inspired to actually make the movie. (And I’m very thankful that he did.) Smith’s horror anthology KillRoy Was Here started out in a similar way. It has its roots in an episode of the Edumacation podcast, where Smith and co-host Andy McElfresh “accidentally brainstormed a Christmas horror anthology” that would revolve around the child-eating creature known as Krampus. Smith and McElfresh wrote a script and were moving ahead with the film, which was first called Comes the Krampus! and then re-titled Anti-Claus, but then it got abandoned when Michael Dougherty’s Krampus movie was released. It only sat dormant...

Doctor Light, Felix Faust, and Amazo are some of the top villains the Justice League has faced, each making a memorable debut and posing a significant threat. Insomnia had one of the biggest premieres in modern history during the Knight Terrors crossover event. Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor are two of the most significant villains, with their debuts leaving a lasting impact on the DC Universe.
The Justice League is DC’s biggest team, the first line of defense against a harsh and hostile multiverse. Beginning with a memorable fight against Starro in 1960’s Brave and the Bold #28, the Justice League has confronted some of the DC Universe’s biggest threats, emerging victorious each time.
The villains the Justice League has faced are diverse. Some are gimmicky supervillains while some are alien despots. Still others are so powerful they threaten the entire multiverse. Some of these villains had truly memorable debuts,...

The Hunger Games franchise director and producer both confirm why further prequel films in the franchise won't happen without original author Suzanne Collins.
Per Variety, director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson each offered their own strikingly similar reasons why more The Hunger Games prequel films will not be happening without Collins' input. Lawrence, who directed each installment in the franchise apart from the 2012 original, explained, "Suzanne [Collins] always writes from a thematic foundation... I think it's why they've stood the test of time, honestly."

Superman's live-action TV shows have produced some of the best portrayals of his iconic villains, often re-imagining them for the screen. Villains like Mister Mxyzptlk, the Anti-Monitor, and Lex Luthor have stood out as memorable and well-performed adversaries in Superman TV adaptations. Shows like Superman & Lois and Smallville have introduced original villains like Tal-Rho and Lionel Luthor, further enriching Superman's rogues' gallery.
Superman's live-action TV shows have included many memorable appearances by his most famous villains. While Superman's rogue's gallery includes some of the best known villains in all comic book lore, bringing them to life in live-action has often required them to be re-imagined to varying degrees. In doing so, these have often resulted in some of the best portrayals of Superman's villains in any adaptation.
Occasionally, Superman's villains in live-action TV have been an amalgam of multiple antagonists, while others have been closer to their comic book origins with new backstories.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes wasn't made simply to cash in on the popularity of the Hunger Games franchise, according to producer Nina Jacobson.
Jacobson insisted that the creative intentions behind the upcoming prequel were pure in an interview with Polygon. "You could have gone with a fan favorite [character] -- 'Let's do Haymitch's story! Or do Finnick's games! -- but that would be doing it to do it," she said. "If [Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins] had a story in this world with something she wanted to talk about, something to explore, then great. But if not, better to leave a franchise as something people feel fondly about rather than crank out a sequel for the sake of a sequel."

If there was one punk group that positioned itself as a leader of a movement for inclusivity, radical change, and allyship in the early 2000s, it was Anti-Flag.
Co-founded by Justin Geever, a.k.a. Justin Sane, in Pittsburgh in 1993, members flitted in and out until the group solidified in 1999. Anti-Flag would go on to draw legions of devoted fans for their progressive messaging and political activism, including anti-war causes and animal-rights advocacy.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Venom #23 Anti-Venom is the perfect antithesis of the iconic antihero, Venom, who also originated with Eddie Brock, the first human host who became ‘Venom’ as fans know him. And now, on a newly-released variant cover for the ongoing Venom comic series, Venom’s opposite suddenly becomes a contender for scariest symbiote, which is a shocking change for the character that could soon become permanent in-canon.
Anti-Venom is different from every other symbiote in Marvel Comics history, beginning with how it was created. After the Venom symbiote left Eddie Brock, he was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, the villainous Mr. Negative actually used his powers derived from the Negative Zone to cure Eddie’s cancer. Little did Mr. Negative know, the traces of symbiote left in Eddie’s blood would become infected by the energy of the Negative Zone, leading to the creation of Anti-Venom.

“The Boys” ramped up its outrageousness in every way possible in its latest, third season— from, uh, a shrunken man venturing into a human orifice to Jensen Ackles‘ emergence as the Amazon Prime Video show’s satirical take on Captain America (Steve Rogers)… Soldier Boy.
The show, based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is Eric Kripke‘s superhero satire. While comedic in many places, the show is first and foremost a drama and follows Karl Urban and Jack Quaid leading up a squad determined to take down the supes-gone-bad. The supes, in turn, are part of a team called The Seven (led by Anthony Starr‘s Homelander), which are handled by mega-company Vought International.

Of all the villains in the DC Universe, few are more terrifying than the monster Doomsday, a creature infamous for the fact he killed Superman, but this terrifying beast also ended up being one of the most powerful members of the Justice League.
Superman has fought some f the most powerful enemies to ever exist in the DC Universe, from Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor to Imperiux-Prime, but none of these villains gave him as much trouble as Doomsday. Living up to his name, Doomsday was the first being to really defeat Superman, seemingly killing the Man of Steel during their first encounter. Since then Doomsday has reappeared multiple times, causing untold destruction every time. However, one of the final events before the New 52 reboot, saw Doomsday technically joining the Justice League.

It’s been over six years since Rihanna released her last album, Anti. While fans have been anticipating something new from the Barbadian singer, Anti is filled with great songs that can hold them over until the next project. Rihanna may have a tough time making an album better than Anti, as she calls it her most “brilliant” and “cohesive” album.

While it’s hard to measure her most commercially successful album due to streaming, none of Rihanna’s previous albums dominated the charts as Anti did. The album only had one No. 1 hit with “Work,” but it peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for two weeks. Rihanna‘s most recent album release was in 2016 when she dropped her beloved eighth studio album Anti. Fans have been clamoring for her next album since then to no avail, as the Barbados-bred beauty has focused on building her Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin brands and Savage X Fenty lingerie line. But Rih is ready to take the stage for the first time in years at the Super Bowl Lvii halftime show, and ahead of her performance, Anti has already earned some new accolades.

Playing off the Yakuza-based stories and themes commonly found in manga, Shonen Jump's The Way of the Househusband and Sakamoto Days give similarly different interpretations of the tried-and-true gangster plot lines and in doing so create a new type of manga character, the anti-Yakuza.
Kousuke Oono's The Way of the Househusband tells the story of househusband Tatsu, a former legendary Yakuza who was rumored to have single-handedly defeated a number of rival factions in one night. However, those days are behind him, as he is now focused on making life easier for his loving wife, the businesswoman Miku. Similarly, Yuto Suzuki's Sakamoto Days tells the story of former top-level Yakuza assassin Taro Sakamoto, who quit gang life after meeting and falling in love with a store clerk named Aoi. Now, he spends his days managing the convenience store he owns with Aoi and looking after their daughter Hana.

In "Violent Night," David Harbour plays a Santa Claus who isn't afraid to knock back a beer or head-butt someone who's naughty. If that doesn't sell itself as a movie premise, I don't know what would. The "Stranger Things" star has hidden his face under red demon makeup before (see: "Hellboy"), but in "Violent Night," Harbour is donning a red stocking cap and grey beard, in service of "seasons beatings." And just because it's an action comedy doesn't mean he went into the role of Santa without doing some research.
Santa Claus as we know him has a long history dating back at least 200 years, when the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (now commonly known as "The Night Before Christmas") was published. The real Saint Nicholas and other historical antecedents like Father Christmas date back even further than that poem, by centuries. Harbour was conscious of this history when...
