Gerry Turner saw his second chance at love come to fruition on Thursday night when he proposed to a very lucky lady on the inaugural season finale of The Golden Bachelor.
After a season of ratings successes, it seems the finale took the cake. More than 6M people tuned in to watch Turner get engaged, according to live+same-day Nielsen data.
That’s the largest same-day audience for the franchise since the season finale of The Bachelor in March 2021, when Matt James led Season 25. That season was embroiled in controversy, which likely boosted the finale audience. By contract, Turner’s season was received fairly positively.
The episode also managed a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is the best performance for the franchise since the season finale of The Bachelorette last September.

Katie Thurston is back on the reality dating show scene, and this time, she's trading roses for f-boys. The "FBoy Island" star made her first TV appearance on the 25th season of "The Bachelor," which starred leading man Matt James, back in 2021, and it was then that we knew she'd be a contestant to watch.
From bringing her very own sparkly purple vibrator for her first impression to poking fellow castmate Mari Pepin on the arm with it when her time talking to James was up, Thurston made it clear from day one that she is sex positive, outgoing, and hilarious to boot. We couldn't get over her history-making first-episode antics, her willingness to take on "Queen" Victoria Larson's major attitude, and her emotional breakthroughs with contestants like Sarah Trott. She then went on to helm season 17 of "The Bachelorette," where she got engaged to contestant Blake Moynes, though they later broke up.

It appears Gerry Turner has stolen audiences’ hearts.
In its first week, the premiere episode of The Golden Bachelor has managed to deliver an audience of more than 11M total viewers across linear and streaming platforms. This accounts for both its debut telecast on September 28, as well as its rebroadcast on October 3.
The Sept. 28 broadcast alone soared to 9M viewers after seven days of delayed viewing, according to ABC.
That’s an addition 4.64M people who tuned in through delayed cross-platform viewing, making it the strongest multiplatform telecast for any series within The Bachelor franchise in more than two years — since February 2021, when Matt James led the titular series.
In the 18-49 entertainment demo, the episode has grown to a 2.46 rating, which is quadruple its initial live+same-day rating. This is the best seven-day multiplatform rating for the franchise in two years, since a September 2021 episode of Bachelor in Paradise.

Chris Harrison will not stand for any hate that comes Ashley Iaconnetti's way. On Jan. 15, The Bachelor franchise host posted a photo to Instagram of him with Ashley and this year's current lead Matt James on the ABC reality series. Ashley is slated to appear on the Jan. 18 episode of the show to help guide Matt in his quest for love. Ashley, who competed for Chris Soules' heart on season 15 of The Bachelor and later appeared on two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise and The Bachelor Winter Games, is a fan favorite and also hosts the Almost Famous podcast alongside Ben Higgins. Despite her place in Bachelor Nation, however, one fan decided...

While Bachelor Nation is just getting into the groove of Matt James's season of The Bachelor, it looks like the fan-favorite summer spinoff will be making a comeback!
Like all of the other spinoffs, Bachelor in Paradise wasn't able to shoot its seventh season last year due to production halts during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. And despite TV shows and film productions shutting down once again due to Covid numbers surging across the country, Variety reports that ABC has slated the summer dating show to return during the summer - albeit with the proper restrictions.
"We are hell-bent on figuring out how we make Paradise work," Rob Mills, senior vice president of alternative series, specials and late-night programming at ABC Entertainment, told Variety. "Unless something horrendous happens, I feel very confident that Paradise is coming back on this summer - how and where it's going to be...

“Bachelor In Paradise” was a television casualty of 2020. With production halted across the industry in the height of the pandemic, ABC’s fan-favorite summer dating show wasn’t able to shoot its seventh season last year.
Now, with coronavirus numbers surging once again, TV shows and film productions are shutting down, once again, and non-essential travel is discouraged. But, good news for Bachelor Nation: ABC is set on getting “Bachelor In Paradise” back on-air this summer, and is now prioritizing the show after shelving it last season, Variety has learned exclusively.
“We are hell-bent on figuring out how we make ‘Paradise’ work,” Rob Mills, senior vice president, alternative series, specials and late-night programming, ABC Entertainment, tells Variety. “Unless something horrendous happens, I feel very confident that ‘Paradise’ is coming back on this summer — how and where it’s going to be, it’s still to early to tell.”
“Bachelor In Paradise” typically films in Mexico.

Season 25 of The Bachelor premiered last week, introducing us to eligible gent Matt James, aka the show's first Black bachelor. If you didn't brush up on every detail of Matt's life prior to the premiere, you may have been surprised to learn that Matt is actually biracial. Although his mother is white, society identifies Matt as Black, via America's nefarious one-drop rule: one drop of Black blood makes a person Black, regardless of if one parent is of a different race. The one-drop rule may be an antiquated way to measure Black identity in American culture, but it is still the yardstick by which Matt James's Bachelor season will be defined.
"Although the one-drop rule doesn't have the same legal status it once had, it has continued to inform America's racial hierarchy as well as our assignment of Black racial identity."
The one-drop rule of racial classification dates back to...

Ever since Season 25 of The Bachelor premiered, we’ve been staring at Victoria Larson, this iteration’s quasi-villainess and self-proclaimed “Queen,” trying to figure out just who she reminds us of. Bachelor Nation fans on Twitter have their theories, comparing the 27-year-old Los Angeles real-estate agent to everyone from 2006 Lady Gaga to Nora from iCarly.
And then it hit us (as it should have any fan of HBO’s underrated two-season comedy Vice Principals): Victoria is a watered-down version of that show’s female antagonist, Jen Abbott, played with brilliant, unhinged abandon by actress and current Righteous Gemstones star Edi Patterson.

Matt James is still looking for love... but it's not all roses. The Bachelor lead recently kicked off his journey, and while many are eagerly tuning in, there was one moment that caused quite a bit of controversy. In the season 25 premiere on Jan. 4, the 29-year-old star opened the cocktail party with a prayer. Religion has been a frequent subject in the Bachelor Nation world, but fans expressed mixed feelings over Matt's prayer. One Reddit user shared, "He should have worded it in a more inclusive way. It came off as centric to his belief system, and in a diverse group like this, where he pretty much doesn't know any of them, it may be viewed a little...

Matt James, the first Black lead in the long-running ABC dating show “The Bachelor,” scored on Monday night, attracting 4.58 million viewers and placing at the top of primetime numbers with a 1.1 rating in the key, adults age 18-49 demographic.
Still, though the drama was particularly over-the-top for the series in the second episode thanks to a villainess that longs to reign over the luxury Nemacolin resort and terrorize her fellow players, the historic Season 25’s ratings are still hitting low. In the Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings, last week’s return of “The Bachelor” scraped a 1.3 in adults 18-49 and 5 million viewers, a record low for the 20-year franchise. Episode 2 was down over 17.3% in the key demo and down about 12.4 in total viewers compared to the premiere.
Elsewhere at 8 p.m., a rerun of CBS’ “The Neighborhood” landed in second place in Monday primetime rankings, obtaining a 0.6 rating and 4.03 million viewers,...

“The Bachelor” kicked into gear as Matt James entered his first week of dates. After an opening, lingering shot of Matt showering, the ladies were seen excitably settling into their gorgeous surroundings at the Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Penn. Chris Harrison congratulated Abigail on receiving the first impression rose and announced there would be three dates: one group date and two one-on-ones. There was also a hitch: due to the record number of ladies, not everyone would receive a date.
Bri, a communications manager from San Francisco, received the first one-on-one and quickly generated backlash from Victoria, the “Queen” from Los Angeles who didn’t understand why everyone wasn’t as mad as she was. “I think the girls that are happy for Bri are all fake as sh–,” she said. “The reality of the situation is that we’re all here to date Matt. We’re not here to be in a sorority.

Bros that wax together, stay together. That seems to be the case with best friends Tyler Cameron and The Bachelor's Matt James. During the latest episode of Tyler's vlog, the best bros had a spa day getting pampered along with two other friends. After pedicures and facials, the four men—on Tyler's request—also agreed to get Brazilian bikini waxes. Although they pulled names from a basket to be fair and square, Tyler still went first of the foursome. "[The spa] recommended not to use the white strips. I said, 'We're doing the white strips' because I saw 40-Year-Old Virgin and that looked painful and that's what I was going for," Tyler explained....

Hey,Bachelor Nation fans. Tonight, January 11, 2021, another new episode of The Bachelor 2021 edition with headliner Matt James did indeed air. Tonight's episode kicked off with host Chris Harrison greeting all the remaining ladies and delivering a date card to them. It revealed that Bri got a 1 on 1 date with Matt. During their date, Matt took her out riding on 4-wheeler ATVs. Meanwhile, this crazy girl Victoria started annoying all the other girls by acting quite rude. She was on that kick of "I'm not here to make friends. I'm only here for Matt." Matt and Bri ended up wrecking and flying off the 4 wheeler ATVs at one point, but they were ok. After all of that drama, Matt took off his shirt and chopped wood for Bri. Bri told the private cams, "Matt looks good with his shirt off." After the chopping wood show, they talked over drinks and ended up kissing.

Will Matt James find that special someone in the 25th season of The Bachelor TV show on ABC? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like The Bachelor is cancelled or renewed for season 26. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustrated when their viewing habits and opinions aren't considered, we invite you to rate all of the 25th season episodes of The Bachelor here.

The Bachelor‘s Season 25 opener last week included a lot of deep and meaningful examinations on race and cultural expectations — and producers promptly and handily chucked them in Week 2. Mentions of Matt James being the first Black Bachelor became irrelevant this Monday night in order to establish the commercial real estate broker’s top love contenders and solidify Victoria as this season’s villain. And can we talk about Victoria for a minute?
Matt, 28, surely sees through the charade of this self-proclaimed “Queen.” Of course Matt didn’t witness firsthand how brattily Victoria pouted when he selected Bri, 24, for his...

In between the shirtless workout b-roll, the vibrator that seemed to be in every room, and all of the Queen Victoria drama featured during The Bachelor's premiere, there was one thing that all the contestants couldn't stop talking about: the prayer led by season 25 lead Matt James.
Kicking off his opening address to the group of women with a prayer set a tone for the rest of the season for both the contestants and the audience. Matt immediately makes it clear that his Christian faith is important to him, saying that praying "recenters" him when he's anxious. Though it looked like many of the women respected and appreciated the time he took to center himself with his faith, I wonder if there were contestants that felt odd, uncomfortable, or even disrespected in that moment because their religious beliefs were different from his. While it's wonderful that he felt comfortable expressing that side of him,...
