The 45-year-old actress is joining former co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. as the two original stars who will return for the upcoming third movie in the franchise.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, best known for writing and directing the Netflix movie Do Revenge, is the writer and director on the upcoming film.

“I will say it is truly such an honor, at 45, to even be invited back. To be thought of in that way, to not just move on to the newer, better, younger versions, but [to be offered] to come back and play that part is really cool,” Jennifer told Variety.

Earlier this week, Jennifer explained why she didn’t immediately sign on for the project.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of the greatest horror franchises, so it’s not surprising that we’re getting yet another sequel. In February 2023, it was announced that a new sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer was in the works, with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in talks to return to their original roles.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson was chosen to direct the film, with Leah McKendrick writing the script based on an idea from both Robinson and McKendrick. Neal H. Moritz will produce. The plot is expected to be similar to Scream (2022), where original characters are part of a story with a younger cast. The film is set to be released on July 18, 2025.

It has been a great year for Grotesquerie star Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Fresh off of roles in two Ryan Murphy projects, including Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Chavez has been cast in next year's highly anticipated I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, reports Deadline.

The news comes with a few other casting additions that include Lola Tung, Austin Nicholas, and Gabbriette. The four newcomers will join a cast that includes Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon. Camila Mendes was previously set to star but had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The heyday of teen romance TV shows from the late 1990s to the early 2010s created some of the best and most influential adolescent series of all time. This was the period when teenagers and the pangs of adolescence were starting to be taken seriously by film and television, as young adults were proving themselves to be a vast and marketable audience base. While there are many other great shows about teenagers that feature love stories, not all of them share the specific tone and atmosphere that makes a teen romance TV show so unique.

There are plenty of toxic couples in teen dramas, as most of the relationships presented in these shows are far from perfect and often problematic. However, these are easy to spot looking back on these shows, and it's important to remember to take most storylines and romantic interests in teen dramas with a grain of salt.

Euphoria stars Zendaya as Rue Bennett, a teen drug addict fresh out of rehab and struggling to stay sober. Rue is the center of the story in the first season, with a small focus on the lives and troubles of the surrounding characters.
