Throughout the years, a lot of stars have portrayed the role of The Dark Knight, aka Batman, in multiple media franchises. Therefore, it is quite obvious that fans would have different opinions about the actors who have played the role, with most having one particular favorite.
Jack Quaid also once opened up about his favorite Batman portrayal and revealed that he felt Michael Keaton’s take on the epic caped crusader was ‘perfect.’

Netflix has managed to adapt the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series which follows the story of Aang, who is also the Avatar, the one who can master all four elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. While the animated series has quite interesting chapters revolving around the protagonist and his friends, Katara and Sokka, the Netflix series has already released the first season with eight episodes.

Paramount is polishing its crystal ball today and looking ahead at some of the films from the studio in the next few years. At least, that’s how it feels when Paramount earnings day comes along. The studio announced a 0.6% increase in stock today, with various release date announcements to whet investor’s whistles. Among the titles mentioned during today’s report, Paramount put dates on projects like Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun reboot, a sequel to 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and more.
The Naked Gun reboot pratfalls into theaters on July 18, 2025, with Liam Neeson starring in the comedic role made famous by the late Leslie Neilsen. Akiva Schaffer directs, and executive produces the Naked Gun reboot, with Dan Gregor and Doug Man writing the script draft alongside Schaffer. One of the reasons this is exciting is that the trio partnered for the way-better-than-anticipated Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers film.

Prime’s The Boys has gained immense love and appeal from its fans, as it has shown a refreshing take on superheroes, which goes beyond themes like nobility and selflessness. The series showcases a darker side of heroism and how individuals would act if they had superpowers. With relevant themes and equally dark humor, the show is definitely a fan favorite.

Needless to say, the fans were excited when the 4th season was announced. However, none of the fans were ready for the renewal of 5th season. However, it was not too surprising as the franchise’s most renowned spin-off, Gen V was renewed for a 2nd season as well. The fans of the twisted TV Series were hyped and jumping with excitement as they tweeted on social media.

Predator’s journey from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic 1987 sci-fi action film to a successful Hollywood franchise has been remarkable. Dan Trachtenberg’s 2022 Oscar-nominated installment, Prey, starring Amber Midthunder, has been considered one of the franchise’s best films from its inception, and its success quickly led to the announcement of a sequel.

Good news for everyone — and there were plenty of us – who thought that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg did a fantastic job with 2022's Prey, producing the best Predator movie in many a year. He's back on the hunt for a new movie set in the extraterrestrial tracker universe called Badlands.
Not planned as a sequel to Prey, the new film is being largely shrouded by an invisibility cloak, but The Hollywood Reporter has heard that it'll be set in the future and will once more feature a female lead. And despite it not being a direct follow-up, a connection to Prey would not be out of the question.
Trachtenberg once more cooked up the story with the previous film's writer Patrick Aison, with Aison going on to write the script. It's reportedly far enough along for the cameras to start rolling in July.
That's just one Predator-connected project...

Between apocalyptic disaster films and cosmic terrors à la Lovecraft, the horror genre has the theoretical end of humanity pretty well covered. But what about its beginning?
In Andrew Cumming’s magnificent directorial debut “Out of Darkness,” the filmmaker reverses at full speed into the unknown with an imaginative and gruesome wilderness thriller tracking a group of nomads living 45,000 years ago. Part prehistoric “Prey,” part agnostic spin on The Book of Genesis, the film was written by Ruth Greenberg, and premiered under the more sci-fi sounding title “The Origin” at the BFI Film Festival in 2022. The moniker change is just the latest in a line of nuanced creative decisions that makes this ferocious 87-minute monster movie a testament to meticulous storytelling: a scrupulous feat made even more effective by the film’s use of Stone Age brutality and stark narrative simplicity.

Following the success of Prey, Dan Trachtenberg is returning to direct another Predator film: Badlands, this time set in the future.
Following the wibbly-wobbly mess that was 2018’s The Predator, 20th Century Studios regained its footing with Prey in 2022. Starring Amber Midthunder, it was a back-to-basics approach to the Predator franchise – set in 1719, it told the simple story of Native Americans versus colossal alien big-game hunter.
Director Dan Trachtenberg clearly enjoyed the experience, since he’s signed up to make another Predator film. It won’t be a direct sequel to Prey, however; called Badlands, it is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, set “sometime in the future” and will also feature a female lead. (It’d be amazing if it was Sissy Spacek.)
This initially left us thinking about Predators hunting their human quarry among flying cars and jet packs, until we remembered that 1990’s Predator 2 was set in...

Dan Trachtenberg is back in action, directing a fresh ‘Predator‘ movie titled ‘Badlands’. After his 2022 hit ‘Prey’, he’s not slowing down. This time, he’s crafting a whole new story that’s set in the future. And guess what? It’s going to have a strong female lead, just like ‘Prey’.
Now, ‘Badlands’ isn’t a follow-up to ‘Prey’. Nope, it’s a standalone story. The folks behind the scenes are keeping the plot hush-hush, but we know it’s going to be packed with sci-fi action and horror. Trachtenberg’s teamed up again with Patrick Aison, who’s handling the screenplay, based on a story they both dreamed up.
The buzz is, they’re aiming to kick off production this July. And with the success of ‘Prey’, which broke viewing records on Hulu, there’s a lot of excitement around what ‘Badlands’ will bring to the table.

Following the success of “Predator” prequel “Prey,” writer/director Dan Trachtenberg is rolling out a whole new “Predator” franchise at 20th Century Studios.
As first announced by The Hollywood Reporter, Trachtenberg is set to helm “Badlands,” a new “Predator” storyline set in the future and featuring a female lead. Additionally, 20th Century Studios is reportedly planning a slew of “Predator” projects with Trachtenberg overseeing.
Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison were behind the story for “Badlands,” with Aison penning the screenplay. Trachtenberg will direct.
“Prey” was set in 1719 and followed an Indigenous woman (Amber Midthunder) who fought for survival against alien invaders. The "Predator" franchise is back and ready for more. After director Dan Trachtenberg rejuvenated the long-running series with "Prey," the thrilling and (mostly) standalone sequel that took the action back in time to colonial America and put a tribe of Comanche characters at the front and center of the story, 20th Century Studios is clearly taking the right lessons from the film's critical success. In an exciting development, The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Trachtenberg is returning to the director's chair for the next installment, currently titled "Badlands." And there was much rejoicing!
The mind reels at all the possibilities to take the franchise after "Prey" essentially took the property back to its roots with a stripped-down but no less thrilling take on the alien warriors with a thirst for the hunt. Intriguingly, this new film is described as not a direct sequel to "Prey," which many viewers expected...

A new standalone “Predator” movie is in the works at 20th Century Studios, with filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg set to direct.
Plot details for “Badlands,” which will be set in the future, are currently under wraps, but the film will begin production this year.
Trachtenberg landed an Emmy nomination for his 2022 “Predator” prequel “Prey,” which follows a skilled warrior of the Comanche Nation named Naru (Amber Midthunder) as she sets out to protect her people from a mysterious danger threatening their camp.
Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman reviewed the film positively in the scope of the franchise, writing, “As an alien-attack thriller, ‘Prey’ is competent and well-paced, though with little in the way of surprise. But the journey of Naru lends it a semblance of emotional coherence that most of the ‘Predator’ films have lacked.”

In the wake of last year’s Emmy winning spinoff movie Prey, Deadline reports today that director Dan Trachtenberg will be expanding upon the Predator franchise even further with the upcoming Badlands, another standalone Predator movie!
Trachtenberg is on board to write and direct Badlands.
Deadline reports, “The film is a high priority for the studio and sources say Trachtenberg and execs are already meeting with talent for the lead role.”
The site’s report continues, “Plot details are being kept under wraps other than it featuring everyone’s favorite extraterrestrial big game hunter. It is also not known about release plans as the last film exclusively streamed on Hulu (breaking numerous viewerships records for the streamer) but given that 20th Century has been very much back in the theatrical game with films like Boogeyman and the upcoming Alien: Romulus film bowing in theaters, a theatrical premiere isn’t out of the question.

The Predator franchise gets a stealth prequel in the shape of this smartly written sci-fi thriller that has the dreadlocked alien super-hunter under-estimating a worthy new opponent. In terms of sequels, Prey is comfortably the best Predator film since the 1987 original, though admittedly, that’s not a particularly high bar to clear.
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (whose franchise-tweaking credentials were previously showcased in 10 Cloverfield Lane), Prey is set in 1719, on the Great Plains, where young Comanche tribeswoman Naru (Amber Midthunder) is desperate to become a warrior, fighting alongside her brother Taabe (Dakota Beavers). She finally gets her chance when she’s invited to participate in the ritual of kühtaamia and hunt and kill a vicious animal, before...

Get to the convention! There was a mini Predator reunion over the weekend as Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura met up at a convention, bringing together two of the key cast members of the fan favorite action flick. If only we could have gotten Bill Duke and that other guy…
Ventura — who played minigun-lovin’ Blain Cooper in Predator — plugged the event on Facebook, writing, “Come on down to the Mad Monster Party in Atlanta! I’ll be here today and tomorrow signing autographs and taking pictures with all the fans. Plus it’s a Predator reunion! Got to see Carl Weathers.” Weathers played Al Dillon (you son of a bitch!).
The original Predator, which came out in 1987, spawned a full-blown franchise for better or worse, with the first sequel, Predator 2, arriving in 1990. The series took a lengthy break before crossovers Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) and...

The cast for the upcoming movie Opus makes it one of next year’s most intriguing films in the horror genre. More here:
A24 has established itself as the destination for smart, modern horror with films like Talk To Me and Midsommar. Talk To Me this year alone has excelled where many higher profile horror movies haven’t.
Nonetheless, the studio’s upcoming project, Opus boasts the kind of ensemble (not to mention that grandiose title) that makes you wonder if this will be the studio’s biggest swing yet.
Let’s start with the new faces.
Ayo Edebiri has joined the cast, fresh off the critical praise for this year’s comedy Bottoms (our review is here) and in the continuing wake of plaudits for her performances in The Bear, one of the most celebrated TV dramas of the last couple of years. Also fresh to the cast is...

Now that :a[the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike is over]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/actors-union-makes-tentative-deal-to-end-strike/' } we'll be getting more announcements about projects gearing back up as performers can join movies and TV shows. One today, for mysterious new horror movie Opus, includes word via Deadline that John Malkovich and :a[The Bear]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/tv/reviews/the-bear-season-2/' } breakout Ayo Edebiri are leading the cast.
To be clear, this one is in a slightly different category — it's among the smattering of movies that received interim agreements from the union. While that's technically no longer necessary, it means the movie will be progressing either way.
With A24 backing this one, Opus has writer/director Mark Anthony Green in charge. And while plot specifics are being kept quiet, it's apparently said to focus on an iconic pop star’s return following his decades-long disappearance. The-Dream and Nile Rodgers...

Recently Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning director behind “The Shape of Water,” “Nightmare Alley” and “Pinocchio,” said that collecting physical media, in the midst of streamers unceremoniously deleting thousands of titles, is nothing short of a “moral imperative.” And we agree. Each month new home video releases – of both classic films and newer titles – come out. And each one is cause for celebration. With that in mind, we want to highlight the very best titles of every month.
With the insane games that the various streaming platforms are pulling in terms of removing content from their services — including projects that were made specifically for those platforms — an added emphasis has been placed on home video. And with good reason. The only way you can ensure that the movies you love will be around is by owning them on physical media. Thankfully the home video labels have been stepping up their game,...

Last year, "Prey" totally knocked our socks off as the best movie in the "Predator" franchise since the original 1987 action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and the incredible make-up effects of Stan Winston. Set further in the past than any other "Predator" movie before, "Prey" had the unique challenge of giving the new "Feral Predator" technology that harkened back to the defining traits of the alien hunter's signature gear and creating technology that felt different without being nerfed, so as not to give our Comanche hero Naru (Amber Midthunder) an easy way out. But director Dan Trachtenberg and creature designer Michael Vincent succeeded, and we got an amazing new addition to the Predator roster.

As the Native American star of a major Hollywood movie, Killers of the Flower Moon’s leading lady Lily Gladstone will be in rare company, but just how rare?
That’s what the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative set out to analyze in its latest research brief, using its long-running data collection on the 100 highest-grossing theatrical movies from 2007 to 2022. The group found that among those 1,600 films, there was just one Native American lead character: Dani Moonstar, played by Blu Hunt, from the 2020 superhero ensemble film The New Mutants. (The 2022 sleeper hit Prey, starring Amber Midthunder as a young Comanche woman who singlehandedly defeats the Predator, received a streaming-only domestic release and as such was not included in the research.)
Native Americans represent just 1.3% of the real-life population, according to the U.S. Census, and even less onscreen (0.25% — not 25%, but 0.25% — of speaking characters). What’s more, only 99 of these 133 Native American movie roles...

20th Century Studios deserves recognition for listening to fan demand, as not only has Prey received a physical media release — virtually unheard of for a Hulu original — but it’s an impressive one. Not only does it carry exclusive extras, but there are 4K Uhd and Steelbook options to boot. (Hopefully we can convince them to do Hellraiser next!)
An audio commentary with writer-director Dan Trachtenberg, star Amber Midthunder, director of photography Jeff Cutter, and editor Angela M. Catanzaro is included alongside a making-of featurette, a FYC panel with cast and crew, and more.
Here are eight things I learned from the Prey commentary…
1. The Predator originally infiltrated the 20th Century Studios logo.
The 20th Century Studios opening title card originally featured Predator’s laser target and the logo went invisible like the creature’s cloaking mechanism as the fanfare dropped out.
“We fought for it, and then they gave it to us,...

In 2022, "Prey" rejuvenated the long-suffering Predator franchise, becoming the best-reviewed in the series since the original all the way back in 1987. Set in the Comanche Nation around 300 years prior to the first "Predator," the film follows Naru (Amber Midthunder) as she battles a Yautja in the forests of the Great Plains in which she was raised. And frankly, it made for one hell of a hunter vs. hunter showdown.
Following decades of lackluster and often abject "Predator" movies, director Dan Trachtenberg delivered a fresh take on the source material with "Prey." This time, the technically advanced extraterrestrial faced off against a warrior armed merely with a hatchet and a comprehensive knowledge of her homeland's topography. Its tense action and visceral tone made the film a hit when it debuted on Hulu. But there was one action sequence that, as Trachtenberg told /Film at the time, never made it into the final cut.

Some folks like to talk about physical media as if it's on its deathbed. To be fair, it can often seem that way. But I've been hearing about the death of physical media for what feels like over a decade now, and yet, it continues on! Case in point: "Prey," a movie that got dumped onto Hulu instead of getting the theatrical release it deserved, is now on 4K Blu-ray. That's kind of a big deal, folks, and it shows that studios — like Disney — are still willing to give physical media a shot in the arm from time to time. "Prey" is just one title waiting for you below, along with one of the best movies of the year, the latest from Pixar, and two recent horror titles just in time for spooky season. So let's get to it, and remember to keep spinning those discs.

A huge streaming hit for Hulu last year, Dan Trachtenberg’s Emmy-nominated horror movie Prey is now available on 4K and Blu-ray, and this week 20th Century Home Entertainment has released a Deleted Scene that’s included in the physical release’s bonus features package.
The deleted scene is titled “Treetop Chase,” and indeed it spotlights an intense sequence wherein the Predator chases hero character Naru across the treetops. This sequence never made it into the movie, and all that exists is a rough pre-visualization of the concept.
Trachtenberg tells Polygon, “The pre-vis sequence… I was so stoked on. But I was worried about [the treetop chase] being too fancy for the movie. And we really had to nail the execution for it to not feel goofy when so much of the movie and its action is quite grounded. As excited as I was for that kind of physicality, of Naru and...

Action franchises tend to go bigger with every new installment, and "Predator" is no exception. Where the original 1987 film pits a small group of sweat-soaked paramilitaries against a Predator (aka. Yautja) in a dense South American jungle, its first two sequels expand the setting to a dystopian version of Los Angeles circa 1997 and then an entire extraterrestrial planet. But while "The Predator" tried to dial things back to muddled results, director Dan Trachtenberg's prequel "Prey" is much more successful, with its story unfolding on the unconquered Great Plains in the early 18th century.
Winding the clock back simultaneously gives Trachtenberg an organic excuse to simplify the Predator's arsenal, which helps to level the playing field for the alien hunter and the film's human protagonist: the aspiring Comanche warrior Naru (Amber Midthunder). This approach of stripping "Predator" down to its basics also extends to the themes in "Prey." Much like...
