Olecia Roxanna Obarianyk was born Feb 25 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her parents, Darius and Roxanna were the children of immigrant families from Ukraine. Some coming to Canada through the residuals of war, others living in a literal cave in central SK building their new lives.
Growing up, Olecia was rooted deeply in to her cultural heritage through language, dance, and of course cooking, and was a strong student in school while studying ballet 6 days per week, which eventually led her to the National Ballet School. At the age of 11, she was cast as the lead in a production of Beauty and the Beast and that was when she realized her love for theatrical performance.
Through her teenage and early adult years, Olecia went on to being the principle in a semi-professional Ukrainian Dance Ensemble until eventually she began spending more time working in television and film. She spent the majority of her time working in Regina and Los Angeles, with small projects done in Toronto and Vancouver until she decided to take time away from the industry to raise her children.
Olecia raised her children as a single mother for 11 years until she moved to Ontario in 2019 and decided that it was time to get back to her passion and she started to explore the film and television industry in Ontario again.
Today, she still lives in Ontario where she is actively working as an actress, screenwriter and film producer and director through her own film production company
