Rachel Vanderiet

Rachel Vanderiet was raised in Europe until the age of 14. She was born
in Texas but moved to Amsterdam at the age of 4. She later moved to
Vienna and Moscow. Rachel graduated from a private high school in
Florida in 2000. In high school, she took a drama class and was
involved in the school plays. She graduated from Florida State
University with a BA in International Affairs (with a concentration in
Anthropology). She had minors in Psychology and Theatre. She was very
involved with the Theatre department at FSU - acting, directing, and
working with costumes. She worked with children at an elementary
school, teaching drama in an after-school program. She volunteered with
the FSU film school, acting in several short films and helping with
production design. After graduating from FSU, she went to film school
in Kona, Hawaii. Here she wrote and directed her first short film,
Three Steps Away. She was involved in several other short films-
acting, filming, and doing production design. She spent a year
traveling the world, working with an NGO in Kazakhstan, volunteering
with an art exhibition in Argentina, helping in a refugee camp in
Africa, and working at an orphanage in Peru. She continues to pursue
her many interests, which include acting, directing, and screen
writing.
