It's been five years since Charlie Clements left EastEnders behind, with his character Bradley Branning falling to his death from the roof of the Queen Vic. Since then, he's kept busy with stage and screen work - and in October 2014, graduated with a Masters from Rada.
Returning to television, Clements appears in a new episode of Canadian crime drama Murdoch Mysteries, set in Toronto at the turn of the 20th century. His character Charlie Brackenreid is a copper with a dark secret - and is also the nephew of series regular Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig).
Digital Spy caught up with Charlie to talk his latest role, his action ambitions and leaving EastEnders behind.

From the Queen Vic to the Tardis. As Eastenders prepares to mark its 30th anniversary, we look back at its encounters with Doctor Who...
Back in the mid-eighties an actor who played "Third Assistant" in a Doctor Who story called The Savages (1966) and the director of another Doctor Who adventure, The Underwater Menace (1967), came together to create one of the BBC’s most successful television shows.
And when they got together, it was murder. Well, not quite. (Though the first episode did feature a victim who would later die, fact fans.) But what they did create was Eastenders.
Broadcast on February the 19th 1985 (in between episodes one and two of The Two Doctors), this creation of Who alumni would go on to share numerous links with the long-running science-fiction for years to come. Even its time-slot owes much to the adventures of everyone’s favourite Gallifreyan.

The BBC has been accused of double standards after its flagship soap EastEnders introduced a St Bernard dog. Two-year-old Gumbo - whose real name is Shamus - first appeared in Walford last Thursday after being left in the care of estate agent Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements). Since his debut, ten complaints have been lodged with the public broadcaster over the choice of breed. At the end of last year, the BBC announced its decision to suspend coverage of the annual Crufts dog show. The suspension came after investigative documentary Pedigree Dogs Exposed claimed that 14 breeds of the show dogs were born with severe health problems, sometimes after intentional mating with canine relatives in order to meet the Kennel Club's breed standards. Speaking to The Times, dog owner Alexandra Bubb said: "The people at the BBC are a bunch of hypocrites. (more)...
