I’m not going to lie, the Axeman franchise is starting to get a bit confusing… the original film was released in 2013 and a sequel arrived a few years later under the title Axeman 2: Overkill. Then in 2020 the original film was recut and re-edited, making it – as filmmaker Joston Theney stated – a more straightforward horror with a leaner edit, new footage and new music. Originally set to be released under the title Axeman: Redux, instead it was released as Axemen at Cutter’s Creek.
Now comes Axeman at Cutter’s Creek 2 which, if you believe IMDb is a sequel to Axeman 2 and Not Axemen at Cutter’s Creek – though the press materials claims otherwise, stating...

Hank Braxtan has given us a genetically altered polar bear in Unnatural, a giant urban serpent in Snake Outta Compton and a dragon in Dragon Soldiers. And now he delivers the dinosaurs in his latest film, Jurassic Hunt. I wonder what took him so long?
A group of hunters, including Parker (Courtney Loggins; Give My Love To Rose), Valentine (Tarkan Dospil; 4 Minutes), Torres and African poacher and warlord Blackhawk, has been flown into a remote and hidden location. They’re there to hunt the biggest game of all, dinosaurs. Lindon manager of Jurassic Hunt welcomes them, gives them their choice of weapons and tags them all with a tracking device, “Just in case”.

"This doesn't end until we're all dead!" Good! Lionsgate has released a trailer for a so-bad-you-have-to-see-this movie called Jurassic Hunt, which is surprisingly not a movie from The Asylum though it definitely looks like it. The world's most dangerous soldiers, mercenaries and big-game hunters arrive at a mysterious hunting reserve to hunt the deadliest game of all. When dinosaurs kill the tour guides in a wilderness park, the surviving trophy hunters must work together to evade the giant human-hungry ancient creatures and all the mercenaries hired to finish them off. This stars Courtney Loggins, Ruben Pla, Joston Theney, Motown Maurice, and Tarkan Dospil. The only way this can be good is if the dinosaurs eat every last one of them. Surprise, surprise, there's barely three shots of awful CGI dinos in the trailer. Don't watch this. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Hank Braxtan's Jurassic Hunt, direct from Lionsgate's...

Axeman at Cutters Creek is a pretty great name for a horror movie so I’m not sure why this has been changed to Axeman: Redux. Although I know it will probably be a low budget affair, it still manages to conjure up images of classic eighties slashers with great death scenes and great gore. All this from the title alone, at least for me.
And the opening scene keeps in with that spirit. Very much feeling like a tribute to those eighties horror movies. Unfortunately it never manages to get to the heights of any classics, in fact it shares more in common with the eighties horror that is not so fondly remembered.

Soon Cam, Pinball, Neon, and Beez Neez cook up a crazy scheme to stop the monstrous, munching menace—blow it away it by pumping up the jams.

A release date has been announced for Joston Theney's Axeman 2: Overkill. This slasher feature and follow-up to the 2013 film will be released in mid-October. The film involves a few groups of people and one crazed axe-wielding local legend. This is no Paul Bunyan, though. And, the bodies pile up at Cutter's Creek. In the film, Farrah Abraham ("Teen Mom"), Rachel Reilly ("Big Brother"), Angelica Bridges and Bryan Clark star. A preview of the film's launch is hosted here. The trailer shows lots of bloodshed. As the Axeman goes about his business, the characters look for escape. But, no one knows Cutter's Creek like this notorious killer. #SinningWorks will be releasing the film. Axeman 2: Overkill will be available in a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, this October 17th. This title will also be showing through Video-on-demand platforms, on this date. We told you about Joston Theney's sequel to his flick Axeman, entitled Axeman 2: Overkill, a few weeks back; and right now we have an exclusive interview with star Rachel Reilly ("Big Brother," "The Amazing Race") to share.
Dread Central: Mum's been the word with the producers, Joston "El Rey" Theney and Dr. Christopher Otiko, so. What can you tell us about the film?
Rachel Reilly: The film is reminiscent of a 1980s slasher film. It has a witty script and is really fun, action-packed, and of course scary. You're going to laugh and have to cover your eyes! It's everything you want in a horror flick! They take the killings to a whole new level.
DC: You play "Breaker" in the film. What can you tell us about the character? How does she fit into this world?
Rr: Breaker is one badass chic whose only loyalty is to a paycheck!

Another still has arrived for Joston Theney's new project Adam K., and we have this bad boy for you right here. The still features Sarah Nicklin as "Amanda Cole," who's apparently trying desperately to avoid the warm, bloody embrace of the flick's big bad.
"What really makes the killer so scary is that he could literally be any 'normal' guy that you run into on the street," says Nicklin. "He's completely unassuming (until all Hell breaks loose)."
She continues, "I think the biggest impact it would have [on horror fans] is to make people look over their shoulder and be more suspicious of their neighbors or the good samaritans that seemingly just want to help them out because you never know what their ulterior motives might really be."

With a cast that includes iconic scream queens Tiffany Shepis and Brinke Stevens, as well as up-and-coming scream queens Elissa Dowling, Arielle Brachfeld and Jamie Bernadette, how could I not review Axeman (aka Axeman at Cutters Creek)?
It seems, at least in the horror genre, that the 80s, and especially 80s slasher movies, are back. And as a fan of slasher movies I couldn’t be happier. Of course, like back in its heyday, the modern slasher has its good and its bad. In the grand scheme of slasher movies, Axeman sits somewhere in the middle – with enough decent kills to rise above the flotsam but with not enough of a meaty story to really count itself amongst the greats.

In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” to the Johnny Depp’s explosive scene in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman’s savagery in “The Hills Have Eyes.

You think Axeman (read: Axeman at Cutter’s Creek) was a helluva villain, get ready for Adam K.! He’s the birth of a new breed of serial slasher! In the fall of last year we ventured into the mountains just outside of Big Bear, California, to the set of then-filming feature Axeman at Cutter’s Creek and while there chatted with many of the flick’s principal players.
Kicking things off in our set visit coverage is an interview with actress Elissa Dowling.
Written and directed by Joston Theney, Axeman at Cutter’s Creek stars Dowling (Black Dahlia), Tiffany Shepis (Nightmare Man), Brinke Stevens (Skeleton Key), Ray Trickitt (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) and Arielle Brachfeld (The Haunting of Whaley House). The cast of Axeman is rounded out by Chantelle Albers, Jamie Bernadette, Erin Marie Hogan, Eliza Kiss, Dylan Hobbs, Stephen Eith, J. Scott, Carlos Javier Castillo, Paula Tracey Wilson,...

A second still from writer/director Joston Theney's Axeman at Cutter's Creek has come in, and this one features Theney in front of the camera in the role of "Darren," who is finally ready to make his move. But is it as a hero or a villain?
Christopher Otiko, the film's executive producer, says of the scene, "[It's] where two characters make their motivations known. The film's sense of whodunit, or rather who's-doing-it, will have you guessing who the good guys and bad guys really are."
