And while the Black Widow prequel movie wasn’t one of Marvel’s best or most lucrative movies, it did conclude the story of Natasha Romanoff in the MCU, and introduced us to some new characters we are going to see in some of the upcoming movies. But, this article won’t be about the movie itself, as it is going to be about the complex creative process that led to the final product, as IndieWire had a talk with one of the story co-writers Ned Benson, who joined the production at a later date, rewriting the original pitch, but even his version did not end up being the final one.
Ned Benson had a short talk with IndieWire about a potential return to the MCU, seeing how his original collaboration with the large cinematic project didn’t turn out to be the best, but it seems that the filmmaker...

MCU series ‘WandaVision’, focusing on Wanda Maximoff and her journey after a significant loss, received praise for its unique storytelling and deep exploration of characters’ emotions. It was successful enough to spawn two spinoffs: ‘Agatha’, set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, and ‘Vision Quest’, whose release date is still uncertain.
Last year, the WGA Directory mentioned ‘Vision Quest’ was expected to come out during the 2024-2025 TV season. Many fans were excited about it, but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, several projects, including this one, faced delays and cancellations.
Fortunately, ‘Vision Quest’ wasn’t scrapped like some other shows. Recent rumors suggest it might hit screens as soon as 2026. Now, a few weeks later, there are new reports about the show’s production.

‘WandaVision,’ a popular Marvel series about Wanda Maximoff dealing with her loss, got a lot of love for its unique storytelling and digging into the characters’ feelings. It did so well that there are two new shows spinning off from it: ‘Agatha,’ coming to Disney+ soon, and ‘Vision Quest,’ which doesn’t have a release date yet.
Last year, the WGA Directory said ‘Vision Quest’ was expected to come out in the 2024-2025 TV season. Many fans were eager for it, but the SAG-AFTRA strike messed up a bunch of projects, and some got axed. Now, MyTimeToShineHello, a notable leaker and scooper, teased White Vision’s next appearance which we can only assume is ‘Vision Quest.’ The news are not good, if the rumors are true the show won’t see the light of day until 2026.

Joe Locke, the breakout star of “Heartstopper,” has always had dreams of being on Broadway. Now, at just 20 years old, the British actor has made his Broadway debut as Tobias Ragg in the Tony-nominated revival of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
After his first performance in late January, he posted photos and video of himself from the show with the caption, “Little Joe would be happy rn.” His “Heartstopper” co-star Kit Connor and music superstar Olivia Rodrigo were among those who messaged their congratulations in the comment section.
“It’s very pinch-me all the time, which is great,” Locke says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “But every night I’m like, ‘What am I doing?’ – in the best way.”

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. As it stands, Deadpool 3 is the only MCU film releasing in theaters this year, but the Sony side of Marvel has three movies heading to multiplexes, including Kraven the Hunter, which was previously set to make its debut in 2023.
MCU series Echo has already hit Disney+ in January, but here’s what you can expect to arrive in the rest of 2024.

Schaeffer, who has already left her mark with projects like ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Black Widow,’ is bringing her unique storytelling to this new venture.
‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ revolves around the character Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, who was first introduced in ‘WandaVision.’ The series picks up with Harkness finding herself powerless and seeking help from unlikely allies to regain her former powers. Joining Hahn in the cast are Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley. The show promises a mix of mystery, magic, and character-driven drama.

Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role of Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries on Disney+.
With the Blu-Ray release of WandaVision, Marvel Studios snuck a little preview of the spinoff where Hahn and creators tease the making of the series.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else and revealed that everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha.”
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'” Schaeffer recalled.

The first Marvel / Disney+ series WandaVision is getting a collector’s edition Blu-ray release tomorrow (you can order a copy Here) – and apparently a featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the spin-off / follow-up Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (which was formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos) is included in the extras! Agatha isn’t expected to start streaming on the Disney+ service until the early fall of 2024 – possibly on September 19, 2024 – so this featurette gets the marketing started quite early.

Marvel Studios admitted that it messed up one Wanda detail in her Disney+ series WandaVision—specifically in Episode 5.
Many people consider the half-hour series to be one of the best MCU projects the streaming service commissioned. Even so, it's certainly not a flawless piece of storytelling.
In fact, its finale is often lauded as being quite messy. Even the show's creator, Jac Schaeffer, admitted that the story's final installment could have been executed a little cleaner.

As shared by the folks at ComicBookMovie.com, the first episode of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries has the following synopsis, which was apparently found in a U.S. Copyright Office listing: In the first episode, we see Agatha finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. A new update on Paul Bettany's Vision-centric MCU spin-off has some fans worried the show could be cancelled.
Vision Quest, set as one of two Disney+ series to follow up on the events of WandaVision, was first reported to be in development back in October 2022.
The show was seemingly set to debut sometime in 2025, with WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer on as showrunner and Eileen Shim set to pen at least some of the series.

The upcoming Disney+ MCU series ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ is still roughly a year away after the latest round of delays, but it has already become unique for something that never happened in the history of the MCU. When the series was first announced in 2021, the official title was ‘Agatha: House of Harkness.’ However, at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed a new title: ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ and the series was recently retitled again to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.’
This isn’t the first time that Marvel Studios changed the title of already announced projects; ‘The Marvels,’ which is set to open in theaters this November, was initially announced simply as ‘Captain Marvel 2,’ and the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie was officially announced last year as ‘Captain America: New World Order,’ before the title was changed earlier this year to ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ However, it never happened...

Kathryn Hahn is back as the bewitching villain Agatha Harkness in the upcoming Disney+ series “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” – formerly titled “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” – and THR reports tonight that the series will be haunting Disney+ late next year.
“Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” is coming to Disney+ on the road to Halloween 2024.
Tony-winner Patti LuPone joins the previously announced Aubrey Plaza (Child’s Play) and Joe Locke (Heartstopper), as well as Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata.
Emma Caulfield Ford (“Wandavision”) will also be back as the character Dottie.
Jac Schaeffer (“WandaVision”) is on board the series as writer/exec producer.
Plot details for the spinoff project are under wraps at the moment, so it’s unclear if the series will pick up following the events of “WandaVision.” In the finale’s big final battle, Wanda of course defeated Agatha Harkness, trapping her in the town of Westview.

The question of having too much MCU content is ever-present since the canon expanded with the inclusion of Disney+ live-action series. And while we can see that Marvel Studios is making some small changes in the release strategy, we can see that Marvel Studios is still developing a zillion spin-offs with many supporting characters.
Agatha Harkness debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the ‘WandaVision’ series in 2021. Played by Kathryn Hahn, the character was depicted as a noisy neighbor in Wanda’s reality-altered paradise called Westview. After her reveal as the villain, Wanda defeated her and locked her up inside the form of a noisy neighbor she pretended to be.
We thought that was it for Agatha, and regardless of Hahn’s terrific and acclaimed performance (we won’t even mention that “Agatha All Along” song that’s still in our ears), we were all surprised when it was Marvel...

Since Marvel Cinematic Universe started expanding its canon through TV shows on Disney+, there’s never been more characters to keep track of. Many new characters were introduced, including Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk. And with so many new characters, we are honestly afraid to imagine how many characters the upcoming crossover event, ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ will assemble.
However, apart from new superheroes, those Disney+ shows also featured brand-new villains and new special guest characters. In 2021’s ‘WandaVision,’ we’ve met Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, who is set to return in the upcoming spin-off ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ but it looks like the series will also feature one more known name.

Watching and understanding a new Marvel movie has an increasingly high barrier to entry, as there are 30 feature films and countless Disney+ shows that inform the larger storyline. Catching up on the series can be tough — as Patti LuPone has learned firsthand.
The Broadway legend and “Beau Is Afraid” star will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” The Disney+ series, which hails from “WandaVision” creator Jac Schaeffer, expands on the fantasy elements of the MCU by following a group of mythical witches played by LuPone, Kathryn Hahn, and Aubrey Plaza.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, LuPone said that she was far from a Marvel expert when she took the role and has been doing her homework to figure out what is going on in the MCU. “I’m still not familiar with it,” LuPone said. “I had to watch ‘WandaVision’ twice to figure it out.

You mean Patti LuPone — the two-time Tony-winning Broadway legend and the latest cast in the Disney+ series, “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” — hasn’t seen all of the 31 films and eight television shows that comprise the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Shockingly, it’s true [wink].
LuPone admitted to Entertainment Weekly on Saturday that she wasn’t familiar with the MCU before signing onto “Agatha,” in which Kathryn Hahn will reprise her villainous “WandaVision” role.
“And I’m still not familiar with it,” LuPone told EW. “I had to watch ‘WandaVision’ twice to figure it out.”
LuPone said despite her confusion, it’s been a thrill to play Lilia Calderu, another witch alongside Hahn’s Agatha Harkness.
“I’m having a blast,” she told EW. “It’s a wonderful group of women, plus a phenomenal crew. I mean, the design on this piece is extraordinary. Jac Schaeffer is so talented, she’s the creator...

Verve, the talent and literary agency, has appointed a new CEO as it expands its representation ambitions.
Bill Weinstein was named to the top job by the Los Angeles-based agency’s 11 partners, the firm said on Jan. 18. “I am incredibly grateful and humbled to be selected for this position by my fellow Partners and peers,” Weinstein stated.
Weinstein, previously a motion picture literary agent with WME, was part of the trio — along with Bryan Besser and Adam Levine — who left the Endeavor-owned agency to form their own firm, which became Verve in 2010.
As founding partner, Weinstein engaged in negotiations with the Writers Guild when talks over packaging fees and affiliate production were hotly debated in 2019, and the agency broke ranks to sign the writers’ code of conduct before the majors made deals.

“Agatha All Along, Part 2,” anyone? Kathryn Hahn says that Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the WandaVision spinoff in which she’ll reprise her role as Agatha, may have its share of musical moments. “Who knows, there may be a little song here or there… but no one is saying anything about that — certainly not me!” the actress told TVLine on Saturday, January 14, as she promoted her new show Tiny Beautiful Things at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. And with Agatha scheduled to start filming next week in Atlanta, Hahn said it’s the character’s costumes and nails that she’s most excited to revisit. “They’re fabulous!” she added. Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get underway this year with the release of three new tentpole films and twice as many Disney+ shows. Bringing up the rear on the TV side of things is "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," which rolls cameras in Atlanta next week and is due for a late 2023 release
Ahead of its production start, "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" (formerly titled "Agatha: House of Harkness") has now locked in its directors, according The Hollywood Reporter.
A spin-off of Marvel's very first Disney+ series, "WandaVision," "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" centers on Kathryn Hahn's character, Agatha Harkness, who spent much of her previous screen time disguising herself as Wanda's nosy neighbor, Agnes. It was only toward the end of the seventh episode of "WandaVision" that viewers learned Agnes/Agatha's true witchy nature, to the tune of the Emmy-winning, retro-sitcom jingle "Agatha All Along.

The expansive cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Heartstopper breakout Joe Locke, stage star Patti LuPone, comedian Sasheer Zamata, former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Emma Caulfield and That ’70s Show motherly mainstay Debra Jo Rupp.

Marvel obviously struck gold with the revelation that it was Agatha all along, meddling in Wanda Maximoff's idyllic sitcom-inspired suburbia. Not only did that "WandaVision" plot twist gift the masses with an incredibly catchy tune (all it takes to get this song playing on an endless loop in my head is simply remembering that it exists), but we're also getting an entire Disney+ series out of it, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as the witch, presumably with a brand new set of magic users to thwart. Prepare for another deep-dive into the dark magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, courtesy of "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," the upcoming series that likely sees Agatha getting back in touch with her witchy origins. But that might be easier said than done.

Exclusive: That ’70s Show and That ’90s Show star Debra Jo Rupp has been added to Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Disney+/Marvel WandaVision spinoff series headlined by Kathryn Hahn, sources tell Deadline.
In addition to Hahn, who is reprising her WandaVision role as bad gal Agatha Harkness, Rupp joins male lead Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata and Patti LuPone. Emma Caulfield Ford also is said to be reprising her character of Dottie from WandaVision.
No details about Rupp’s role are revealed but it’s safe to assume that she may be reprising her WandaVision role as Mrs. Hart, which she played in five episodes of the original series. A rep for Marvel declined comment.
WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer serves as writer and executive producer on the spinoff.
Rupp is best known for her role as beloved mom Kitty Forman on the long-running sitcom That 70s Show.

Kathryn Hahn is back as the bewitching villain Agatha Harkness in the upcoming Disney+ series “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” and Deadline reports that Patti LuPone will also star.
Tony-winner LuPone joins the previously announced Aubrey Plaza (Child’s Play) and Joe Locke (Heartstopper), as well as Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata.

Never underestimate the power of Patti LuPone. The Broadway legend who recently shocked the world by dropping her membership with the Actor's Equity union has been announced as the most recent cast member of the "WandaVision" spin-off, "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" for Disney+ (via Deadline). "WandaVision" was a huge hit for the streamer, and proved that Marvel TV shows had the power to be just as popular and well-scripted as the multi-million dollar blockbuster feature films.
Kathryn Hahn dazzled viewers with her portrayal of the witch Agatha Harkness, even nabbing an Emmy win for the song "Agatha All Along," written by "Frozen" songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The character was so popular that it inspired Marvel to greenlight the spin-off series, making it the first live-action treatment of a Marvel Comics character who does not have their own comic book series. Given how popular the "Agatha All Along" song was for the series,...

Exclusive: WandaVision‘s best song Emmy win for “Agatha All Along”, performed by Kathryn Hahn, set the bar high for the spinoff series Agatha: Coven of Chaos, headlined by Hahn reprising her role as bad gal Agatha Harkness. The Marvel offshoot is now adding some big musical theater firepower, with three-time Tony winner Patti LuPone joining the cast of the upcoming series for Disney+, sources tell Deadline.
In addition to Hahn, LuPone joins male lead Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, who is believed to be playing a villainous role, Ali Ahn and Maria Dizzia, who I hear are playing witches, and Sasheer Zamata. In addition to Hahn, Emma Caulfield Ford also is expected to reprise the role of Dottie from WandaVision.
LuPone’s role is being kept under wraps, I hear she may be playing a witch. A rep for Marvel declined comment.

This article contains major MCU spoilers
It’s been a wild ride in a post-Thanos world, and in the aftermath of the Blip, it’s a very different Marvel Cinematic Universe. We can’t believe it’s been three years since Avengers: Endgame dusted the Mad Titan, but since then we’ve had everything from multiple Spider-Men to the Multiverse, a black Captain America to a female Thor, Egyptian gods to Celestials, and everything in between.
Without a typical Avengers movie to tie everything together, critics feel Phase 4 of the MCU missed the mark on some levels. Still, we’ve got to hand it to Kevin Feige, he packed a lot in. Now that Ryan Coogler has had the honor of closing this chapter with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it’s time to look back at the best and worst moments of the MCU Phase 4.
