Bill Maher is expanding his Club Random podcast into a network, with plans to launch a new show with sports journalist Sage Steele.
Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time, is teaming with his co-creators and executive producer Chris Case and Chuck Labella in the venture, with plans to feature celebrity talent who want to “try something different and span a wide variety of personalities and interests,” according to an announcement.
Club Random Studios, as the venture is named, will debut The Sage Steele Show later today. In a statement, Maher said that the former ESPN anchor is “the perfect choice to be our first new host because, like me, she pissed off Disney. There’s a certain poetic symmetry to that.”
Maher said, “My lifelong goal has been to get the kind of conversation we have in life – utterly real, completely authentic, cleaned up for no one – on the air.

After two years of hosting his own podcast, Bill Maher will help others do the same with Club Random Studios, a podcast network and entertainment hub aiming to champion “authenticity from unfiltered celebrity voices.”
Besides Maher’s own “Club Random,” the network’s first show is “The Sage Steele Show,” hosted by Sage Steele, dropping March 27. Steele joined ESPN as an anchor in 2007 and climbed the ranks at the network until she was suspended without pay over controversial comments she made on another podcast. She sued ESPN and settled last year. Upcoming guests on “The Sage Steele Show” include Dana White, Howie Mandel, Sharon Osbourne, Jillian Michaels, Drea DeMatteo, Adam Carolla, Reggie Watts and Steve Garvey.
In a statement announcing the new venture, Maher said, “Dance like no one’s watching? We talk like no one can cancel us.”

Sarah Silverman is taking a new swing at David Letterman’s fondly recalled “Stupid Pet Tricks,” and it would be easy to say something about the comic “going to the dogs” or “hoping the new show has legs.” But Silverman has a lot more in store than skateboarding canines and bubble-popping reptiles.
That’s right, this isn’t your dad’s “Stupid Pet Tricks.”
“The stupid pet tricks happen in front of the camera,” says Silverman during a recent interview, but “we wanted to make it kind of a ‘Muppet Show’ where you see behind the scenes.” Every episode has a storyline that might involve a writers’ room with just one human, or Jack McBrayer as a rival host with his own animal program. Will Ferrell, Jon Hamm, Reggie Watts and Judd Apatow are among the other guests who take on roles within the program. Even Letterman makes an appearance.

Off-the-cuff performances are what beatboxers do best. On the latest episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, special guest Reggie Watts shifted into musician mode with ease when the host asked for a quick crash course in the quirky musical style.
Hudson was meant to be picking up some beatboxing herself but was so enthralled by Watts’ performance that she ended up just watching in awe — until she got the idea to lay down a vocal over his percussive beat. Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” was their choice of song for the segment.

You will soon be able to compete in a series of ridiculous tasks, as Taskmaster becomes a live experience.
There are few programmes on television as joyous as Taskmaster. Created by ‘Little’ Alex Horne, the startlingly simple premise see comedians and actors compete in silly challenges for the amusement of the Taskmaster, an always delightful Greg Davies.
The show was a sleeper hit, steadily building a dedicated, almost fanatical audience on Dave before switching to primetime on Channel 4. There have been many classic moments, such as Joe Wilkinson’s potato problem, Josh Widdecombe’s helpful admin (which nobody else had to do) and Liza Tarbuck making Alex sit on a cake.
The show then became popular worldwide, with multiple countries taking on the format. While the American version, hosted by Reggie Watts, didn’t fare so well, it was the New Zealand edition which really took off. Musical comic...

On December 7, the “Auction of Nothing” In support of (Red)’s Fight To End AIDS was co-hosted by Lake Bell and Laura Brown and attended by many stars in Los Angeles.
Sarah Silverman, Melissa McCarthy, Clea Duvall, Lindsay Sloane and Reggie Watts were all among the celebrities at the event.
The brand (Red) aims to involve the private sector in creating awareness and generating funds to combat HIV/AIDS in eight African nations, specifically Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
AIDS is a chronic disease of the immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). HIV weakens the immune system and makes it difficult for the body to fight off infections and diseases. The virus can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen or vaginal fluids.
While there is no cure for HIV/AIDS, medication can effectively manage the infection and prevent the progression of the disease.

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe have found their next act.
The Oscar-winning duo behind police brutality short Two Distant Strangers and, more recently, HBO’s Bs High, have teamed with Group Nine Studios’ former president Mickey Meyer to launch a new entertainment company titled The Unreasnble. The goal of the full-service media company is to develop, produce, finance and incubate stories that have had historically limited access to mainstream media.
“The work stoppages and battles we recently experienced and are still experiencing across our industry for fair and equitable pay and ownership of our work is a clear sign we can no longer adapt to the ways of this business,” explains Free, “but instead we have to adapt it to us, the creators, and that’s what we intend to do.”

Nation of Language share new single ‘Too Much, Enough’ – the centrepiece of new album Strange Disciple out 15th September via [Pias], named as one of the most anticipated albums of the summer by Pitchfork.
In this new track, the band takes aim at the angering, addictive and anxiety-inducing TV news cycles that have so many viewers hopelessly devoted. ‘Too Much, Enough’ looks outward with an effect that is both immediate and irresistible. The chorus explodes like the revelation of a third eye opening, combining a ricocheting pattern of synths with an uninhibited bassline, leaping vocal melodies and an empathic call-and-response.
Simultaneously surreal and hyper present, ‘Too Much, Enough’ arrives with a music video starring Emmy-nominated actor Jimmi Simpson, fellow musicians Reggie Watts, Kevin Morby, Tomberlin, Moldy Peaches’ Adam Green, and Lvl Up’s Greg Rutkin, plus more than a dozen other close friends, familiar faces and even the hooded Strange Disciple itself.

Nation of Language aren’t the only folks disheartened by a news cycle that intersperses manufactured controversy with genuinely heart-wrenching headlines. Still, their latest single “Too Much, Enough” is a pretty good entry to the canon, urging us to unplug from the doom channels with an understated chorus of bubbling synths.
“‘Too Much, Enough’ is a song born out of an exhaustion with the 24 hour news cycle and the outrage bait it uses to get everyone permanently wound up,” Nation of Language said in a statement. “It seems the only way to find an edge in the media business is to appeal to our most base instincts of disgust, and we end up suffering both individually and collectively for it.”
Rather than lean into this darkness, however, the single’s music video goes for a classic gimmick: celebrities pretending to be news anchors. Directed by Robert Kolodny, the visual sees Reggie Watts,...

Ever a man of extremes, Eric Andre, who by all accounts buffed up into the best shape of his life as a bit for the new season of his late-night prank show, shows up to our interview in a bright green Newport Cigarettes tracksuit.
“I’m polluting my body yet again,” Andre tells Den of Geek magazine. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a Newport in my life. [Laughs] I’m a poser. I’m a fraud.”
When we meet Andre, he’s a handful of days into a trip to Austin, Texas, where Adult Swim screened two episodes of The Eric Andre Show’s sixth season on the opening day of the SXSW Comedy Festival to a raucous sell-out crowd with supporting sets from his new co-host Felipe Esparza and comedian friend Reggie Watts.

With “The Late Late Show With James Corden” coming to an end, crew members took advantage of Corden’s interview with “Late Night” host Seth Meyers to ask for a job.
On Monday night, the routine interview between these two late night colleagues was interrupted by several members of Corden’s team asking if there’s room for them at “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” Even bandleader and comedian Reggie Watts got in on the joke.
The segment started off as usual before one of Corden’s cameramen — identified only as Will — interrupted the pair. “Just wanted you to know, man, this shot looks great. Got just the right amount of headroom, perfectly centered. Really captures your essence,” the cameraman told Meyers.

An emotional and reflective James Corden bid his fans and television farewell – at least for now – during a PaleyFest LA event Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood a few weeks before his CBS “The Late Late Show with James Corden” heads off into the sunset for good on April 27. It was announced that the show in its final days will release three new “Carpool Karaoke” segments featuring major stars. Corden will also participate in a “Take a Break” segment featuring the Kardashian family, and will debut one last, epic “Crosswalk the Musical” performance. If you've never watched the 1981 Mel Brooks film "The History of the World, Part I," now is the time to do it. All these years later, a sequel series, "The History of the World, Part II," is hitting Hulu in March. Even if you haven't seen it, you've definitely heard people quote it, from the Torquemada musical number in The Spanish Inquisition segment to lines like, "It's good to be the king," and the "No, no, yes" song from Madeline Kahn. I feel pretty confident when I say that it's one of the funniest movies of all time, and I'm hardly alone in that sentiment.
"History of the World, Part I" is irreverent and absolutely stupid in the most wonderful way, and even after dozens of viewings, I still giggle to myself about parts of it whenever they cross my mind. Not only did Brooks write, direct, and star as Moses,...

It’s a common refrain: Mel Brooks, the comedy mastermind behind “The Producers” and “Space Balls,” could never make a Mel Brooks movie in today’s climate. Well, Mel Brooks made a Mel Brooks series, Hulu’s “History of the World, Part II,” in this very climate.
Nick Kroll, who is a main executive producer, star, and director on the upcoming eight-episode sequel to 1981’s “History of the World, Part I,” told TV critics that the times-have-changed notion is overblown. “I don’t think it’s as tricky to navigate doing comedy right now as people would like to imagine,” Kroll said at Saturday’s Television Critics Association winter press tour. “You just have to be funny.”
Fortunately for Kroll, he and Brooks are very funny. As are the dozens of other comedians and comedic actors who jumped at the chance to work with Brooks, their shared comedy hero. And...

Back in 1981, between “High Anxiety” and “Spaceballs,” Mel Brooks released “History of the World Part I,” a parody of epic films where at least part of the joke was that there was never going to be a Part II. But after 40 years, that’s no longer the case, as “History of the World Part II,” a limited series follow-up to the film is set to premiere on Hulu March 6. The streamer announced the news January 13, in addition to releasing a teaser for the sketch series.
Similar to the film, which consisted of five segments spanning the Stone Age to the French Revolution, each episode of “History of the World Part II” will consist of several sketches taking place at different periods throughout human history. Brooks stars in each episode alongside Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz, but each episode will also feature special guest stars from a stacked lineup...

After 40 years, the hopes and dreams of a generation have finally come true: “History of the World Pt. 2” is almost here. Hulu announced on Thursday that TV series — the long-awaited sequel to the classic 1982 Mel Brooks movie — will premiere March 6. And along with that announcement comes the official trailer. Watch that above now.
The 8-episode series launches with the first two episodes on March 6, with two episodes released nightly through March 9.
Like “History of the World Part 1,” the show features a series of irreverent sketches inspired by different historical eras and, if it’s anything like the original film, also parodying the historical epics of Hollywood’s golden age. And like its predecessor, “History of the World Part 2” takes aims at numerous literal and figurative sacred cows.

“Late Late Show” host James Corden mocked Elon Musk on Monday after the billionaire Twitter owner was booed during a Dave Chappelle comedy show in San Francisco on Sunday.
“You know where he went wrong? He didn’t have his props,” Corden joked before showing a picture of Musk carrying a sink into the tech giant’s headquarters in October. (The joke was: “Let that sink in!”)
“He’s funnier with his props,” Corden mocked.
The host also noted that Musk seemed “pretty upset” about being booed by a basketball stadium full of Chappelle fans, joking, “He was like, ‘No, this isn’t the free speech I wanted to protect!'”

Celebrity Jeopardy! premiered back on September 25 on ABC and so far has seen several famous faces step up to the podium to test their trivia skills (or lack thereof). But the fan reaction has been divided. Hosted by Mayim Bialik (Call Me Kat), the celebrity spin-off series of the long-running game show airs on Sunday nights and sees three famous stars battling it out to move on in the tournament. So far, contestants have included The Afterparty star Ike Barinholtz, Fresh Off the Boat actress Constance Wu, comedian Reggie Watts, and ESPN sports analyst Jalen Rose. The show has a more lighthearted approach than the fiercely competitive syndicated edition, and that’s an issue for some viewers. “I love Jeopardy. I’ve watched it for decades religiously. Celebrity Jeopardy just annoys me to no end,” wrote one fan on the Jeopardy! Reddit forum. “I realize due to the fact that...

Believe it or not, non-Jeopardy! viewers, but Celebrity Jeopardy! is a real thing and not just a classic series of SNL skits.
America’s favorite quiz show has been inviting celebrities on to try their hand at trivia since its ninth season in 1992. And yes, like in the aforementioned SNL skits, the questions are usually a bit “dumbed down” from the usual games. Still, many celebrities over the years have revealed themselves to be secret brainiacs with their surprising performance on the grueling game. Comedians like Cheech Marin, athletes like Aaron Rodgers, and actors like Jane Kaczmarek have all brought home some serious money for their respective charities.
Now, in its 39th season (and it second after the death of iconic original host Alex Trebek), Jeopardy! is going to give Celebrity Jeopardy! another go. This time, however, the stakes and scopes are much greater. Instead of being isolated to only a week within Jeopardy!
