The Fox NFL Sunday cast has been removed from its usual studio pregame show today over Covid-19 concerns, Fox Sports announced.
Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw and Michael Strahan were swapped for Chris Myers, Charles Woodson and Reggie Bush. Fox said some of the replaced regular crew “will appear via remote.”
“In accordance with CDC guidance, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health safety guidelines — and out of an abundance of caution for our team — Sunday’s Fox NFL Kickoff and Fox NFL Sunday pregame shows from our Los Angeles studio will not include their regular casts,” Fox said in a statement.
The network did not say what caused the move, or whether anyone had caught the coronavirus.
Earlier in November, the entire on-air crew for Fox Sports’ college football pregame show Big Noon Kickoff was removed in a similar fashion, with Covid-19 concerns cited. The weekly show featured former players Matt Leinart,...

And with the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns picked …
… Baker Mayfield, quarterback for the University of Oklahoma.
The 23-year-old — originally from Austin, Texas — had risen to the top of many NFL experts’ mock drafts as Draft Day approached, despite a number of controversies marking his college career.

In February 2017, Mayfield was arrested in Arkansas for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and fleeing. He went on to post a lengthy apology letter on Twitter.
His antics on the field did not always go down well either, especially when Mayfield planted an Oklahoma Sooners flag on the Ohio State crest at midfield. Later in the 2017 season, he made a lewd gesture toward the Kansas bench, which resulted in a benching to start the following game.
Mayfield ended his college career on a high note, however, having completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 4,627 yards last season, with 43 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Originally a walk-on player for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Mayfield transferred to Oklahoma after alleged scholarship issues and a lack of communication with coaches. He went on to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

Despite also having the number one pick in last year’s draft, when they took Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, the Browns ended the 2017 season 0-16.
The “Bad Luck” Browns have taken 28 quarterbacks in the Draft since 1999. Past picks include Johnny Manziel (also picked from Texas A&M in 2015, who is already out of the league following his high profile partying and poor performance); Tim Couch (1999, but he got lumbered trying to lead an expansion team); Courtney Brown (2000, and injury-prone); William Green (domestic violence and substance abuse issues); Trent Richardson (2012, and subsequently one of the worst running backs in NFL history to get a significant number of carries); and Brady Quinn (2007, nice guy but terrible NFL career).

With the second overall pick, the New York Giants chose Saquon Barkley, running back from Penn State.
Next on the clock are were the New York Jets, who took Sam Darnold from USC, and then the Browns, again, when they picked Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward.
Each pick is read out by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The 2018 NFL Draft airs live on ESPN from the Cowboys’ At&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Things have been better on the sports front for elite athlete couple Brady Quinn and Alicia Sacramone. Quinn, a backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos, watched as fellow backup (and fan favorite) Tim Tebow got to play in Sunday's game against San Diego. And Sacramone, a captain for the U.S. silver medal-winning women's gymnastics team, tore her Achilles tendon last week while training for the world championships in Tokyo. But at least they have each other. "Best boyfriend award goes to @BQ9 for taking the red eye from Denver to be here for my surgery today," Sacramone Tweeted Monday.

Alicia Sacramone, one of the darlings of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team, has given out the Best Boyfriend Award to her significant other, Denver Broncos back-up quarterback Brady Quinn. Sacramone tweets:
"Best boyfriend award goes to @BQ9 for taking the red eye from Denver to be here for my surgery today...just another reason why I love him."
The surgery Sacramone speaks of is because of a ruptured Achilles tendon she suffered while preparing for the World Championships. But it sounds like everything is going well - she tweeted 10 hours after her Brady tweet, "Surgery went well, Dr. Anderson is the absolute best!"
Sacramone won't be tumbling in the Worlds, the final rounds of which are currently taking place in Tokyo, but as the U.S. women were in first place after the qualifying round, she may be spotted on the floor in London in 2012.

This is a Recap of Top Chef All-Stars (Season 8), Episode 7, entitled “Restaurant Wars: One Night only”, originally airing January 19th, 2011. It contains spoilers about penises, just Fyi. For the Quickfire, we head to Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin to meet the mythical folk hero Justo Thomas, the fish prepper who butchers “1000 pounds of fish every day” and when he’s out it takes “three trained sous chefs to do his job.” He also pulls crooked roads straight, drinks gasoline and farts Dom, and built the Empire State Building by hand as a life-sized replica of his d*ck. After a bunch of hobos spin yarns about Justo’s superhuman filleting feats, Bourdain declares “I think we know what comes next. That’s right – guest judge Jimmy Breslin will give you a New York street number and you have to cook a dish that represents the essence of that number, because...

It occurred to me while listening to a D.C. radio host meltdown over the Eagles beating the Redskins from pillar to post last week that there are few things I enjoy more than a good rant. The more unhinged, scatological, spittle-flecked and bug-eyed the better.
Nothing sparks a good rant like sports. Maybe politics, I imagine some of Rahm Emmanuel's tirades left scorch marks in his West Wing office, but politicians are generally smart enough to avoid losing all contact with humanity while standing in front of a microphone.
Fortunately, the sports world is not given to such decorum. In my continuing and often fruitless efforts to achieve zen, I have tried to become less passionate, or at least less unreasonable, about sports. In his younger days, your gentle author was given to not only screaming at the television, but occasionally shattering objects of furniture onto nearby walls. As I've gained more perspective,...
