Exclusive: Star traitors and faithfuls are set to face off on in the UK in a celebrity version of smash hit format The Traitors, which Deadline understands is set to launch on the BBC next year.
Several sources have told us that an agreement between Studio Lambert, which makes the UK and U.S. versions of The Traitors, and the BBC, which broadcasts it, is close. The hope is that the first celeb version will film next year and go out later in 2025, by which time three seasons of the “civilian” version will have aired. Host Claudia Winkleman is expected to present the celeb version.

She and Prince William have three children–Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis–and she included them in her announcement which read in part: “The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”
Kate added that “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she added.
Kate and William married in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey. George arrived in July 2013, followed by Charlotte in 2015, and Louis in May 2018. Here are some of the memorable quotes the couple...

Happy birthday, Kate Middleton! The Princess of Wales is 42 as of Jan. 9, 2024. While British royals are known to celebrate privately, Kate’s reportedly in for a treat courtesy of her husband, Prince William. The Prince of Wales is said to “spoil” Kate “rotten” on her birthday because of a particularly “rough” 2023. Cringeworthy anecdotes about Kate in Spare and, more recently, the supposed “royal racists” reveal were among the year’s hitches. So, how is William spoiling Kate on her birthday as she turns 42? A commentator says Kate’s birthday is likely to include cooking and some “romance.”
Prince William is making breakfast and dinner extra special for Kate Middleton on her birthday
Kate’s marking the start of being 42 with some help from William. The Prince of Wales, 41, is, per royal expert Jennie Bond, expected to go a little bit further with breakfast, dinner, and “romance.”

PBS viewers will be able to celebrate the holidays with Mary Berry tonight, Monday, December 18, with her new show, Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas, which will see the beloved baker traveling to her mother’s homeland of Scotland for a magical winter break. The special comes amid Berry’s recovery from hip surgery, which she underwent in 2021 following a fall in her garden where she broke her hip. After 10 nights in hospital, The Great British Bake Off alum returned home and was forced to take things slow. “That was hard for me,” she told the U.K.’s Mirror last year. “I remember the doctor telling me that the recovery would take around a year and a half, and I thought, ‘Not for me!’ But he’s right – I still have quite a way to go before I’m fully healed. It will be a little while longer, but I’m getting there.

Queen Camilla is the latest British royal to go to Wimbledon. Following Kate Middleton’s appearance at the tennis tournament earlier in July 2023, the former Duchess of Cornwall sat courtside. However, the recently crowned queen didn’t maintain the royal family’s signature stoicism. Instead, Queen Camilla made “unusual” and “spontaneous” expressions after years of “suppressing her emotions in public.”

Dawn French was unrecognisable (sort of) as Claudia Winkleman in BBC One’s parody of The Traitors for Comic Relief.
The Vicar of Dibley star donned Winkleman’s trademark black fringe for the sketch as well as one of the star’s giant roll-neck jumpers that gradually enveloped her whole face.

The “contestants” included Alison Hammond, who was just confirmed as Matt Lucas’s replacement on The Great British Bake Off, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mary Berry, Stephen Merchant, Danny Dyer, Jennifer Saunders and two actual Traitors contestants from season one.

Gary Lineker has been a major topic of discussion for days, following his tweet in response to Suella Braverman’s immigration bill.
Last week, the government announced a new policy to halt small boat crossings. It will result in the deportation of asylum seekers who arrive via boat to Rwanda or another “safe third country” without hearing their asylum claim.
Reacting to the news, Lineker expressed his distaste for the decision and responded to someone who pushed back on his view on Twitter.
He wrote: “There is no huge influx. We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries.
“This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s, and I’m out of order?”

Kate and William were featured in A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry in 2019. At one point during the TV show, the couple sat and spoke with other people about baking and Prince William placed his hand on Kate’s shoulder. Kate pulled her shoulder away, shifted slightly, and looked away.
Body language expert Judi James analyzed the moment, telling Express, “It was a warm, relaxed, log fire Christmas moment and William clearly thought it was appropriate to place a hand on his wife’s arm as they chatted about baking.”
She continued, “Kate’s...

Among the other personas featured on this year’s series are Phoenix, Knitting, Jellyfish, Rubbish, Jacket Potato, and Piece of Cake.

Princess Charlotte stole the show at the Westminster Abbey Carol Concert with her “sweet” reaction to an appearance by Paddington star Hugh Bonneville.
Recorded earlier this month and broadcast on Christmas Eve, the Together at Christmas service saw the Cambridge family come together for the event, which was hosted by the Princess of Wales.
The Prince of Wales and Prince George were also in attendance at the ceremony, which was filmed earlier this month.
As part of the celebrations, Hugh Bonneville, who plays Mr Brown in the Paddington films, did a reading in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
As the announcement was made that Bonneville would be reading “a Christmas letter from Paddington Bear”, Charlotte, seven, was seen excitedly speaking to her mother Kate Middleton and grinning.
The clip was shared on Twitter, with viewers commenting on Charlotte’s excitement.
“Princess Charlotte’s excitement when she heard the words ‘Paddington Bear’ was priceless!

Dish, the hit podcast hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, will be getting extra social for the festive season as the presenting duo escape the studio and cosy up at Grimmy’s own home, where some special guests have been invited round for Christmas food, drink and laughs.
In a series of episodes, Hugh Bonneville, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, and Annie Mac will all settle down for a fireside chat, while Michelin star chef Angela Hartnett cooks and Grimshaw serves up the drinks. The hosts’ warm reception and sense of humour make Dish the most hospitable and social show on the planet.
Dish takes a pioneering approach to turning podcasts into a social event: it’s recorded like a podcast, shot for Instagram and edited for TikTok. As a result, it’s had 20 weeks at number one on Apple’s food podcast chart and is regularly in the top 20 Apple shows.

Sigourney Weaver has revealed that she enjoys spending her downtime watching The Great British Bake Off with her husband.
The Alien actor cited her half-English roots in a new interview and said that she was “terribly proud” to see the display of British diversity in the show.
“The contestants are all so supportive and nice to each other,” the 73-year-old explained. “So hard-working and they come from such different backgrounds.”
Weaver, whose most recent role is in the forthcoming Avatar: The Way of Water, explained that seeing contestants who are from many different places resonated with her.
She told Radio Times: “It’s very inspiring because right now America is so polarised, there is so much resentment and fear of immigration.”

Matt Lucas’ time in the tent is over.
The Little Britain star announced Tuesday (6 December) that he was stepping down as one half of the hosting team on Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off.
While fans have expressed their sadness at the comedian’s decision to move on, it does mean the door is open for another presenter to take on one of the most coveted jobs in television.
Whoever is chosen will join The Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding – who has hosted the show since it moved to Channel 4 in 2017 – succeeding his past co-presenters Sandi Toksvig and Lucas.
Below, we’ve rounded up some of the most likely replacements for Lucas as well as some who we just think have what it takes to make the tent hum with amusement.

Sugar and flour-dusted friends, all is not well in the world of baking. Like Ian Watters' Baked Alaska sailing into the bin in 2014, a host for "The Great British Baking Show" (aka "The Great British Bake Off" in the U.K.) is leaving the tent. Matt Lucas, who has appeared alongside co-host Noel Fielding and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith for three seasons, is leaving the reality series.
Lucas posted the news on Twitter (via TV Line) saying:

The Great British Bake Off is such a cultural phenomenon that it got its own official musical this year, with a West End run in early 2023, but is 2022 the year the show finally crumbles?
There’s no denying this multiple-bafta-winning baking show is a top-tier hit: since its modest launch in 2010, it’s earned record ratings (up to 16 million), and that special kind of nationwide adoration most shows can only dream of, plus over 35 international versions, and even its celebrity charity spin-off The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off regularly pulling in ratings of over five million.
But the truth is, for the last few years it’s been slowly collapsing like Ruby’s vegan showstopper, and this year it’s finally gone splat.
For starters, and this is dropping the ball on a fairly colossal scale, it’s become a baking show without very much baking. Technical challenges...

These bakers are living the sweet life. While the beloved baking competition The Great British Baking Show (a.k.a. The Great British Bake Off in the U.K.) may not offer a cash prize to its winners, being crowned the country's best home baker certainly comes with its perks. After impressing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith (and former judge Mary Berry) with their delicious cakes, pastries and over-the-top desserts, the series' Star Bakers have accomplished a lot over the years, from publishing cookbooks to opening restaurants and businesses, baking for the British royal family and more. One short of a baker's dozen, 12 new contestants have arrived in the tent to show off their skills on the...

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II will mark 70 years on the throne this summer with a star-studded concert, a parade, a pageant and a baking competition presided over by former “The Great British Bake-Off” judge Mary Berry, among numerous other events.
In February, the Queen will become the first British monarch to reach her platinum jubilee, surpassing Queen Victoria’s 63-year-long reign.
Now aged 95, the Queen ascended to the throne on Feb. 6, 1952 when her father, George VI, died of coronary thrombosis.
Among dozens of events planned to mark the occasion are a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral in honor of her long reign, celebratory street parties across the U.K. and the lighting of 1,500 beacons across the country. In the run-up to the event, 60,000 trees have also been planted in the Queen’s name to promote the issue of climate change.

We’ve all been there. You have a few drinks. Then a few more. And then, boom, you wake up the next day with your neurotransmitters gone haywire, your system flooded by congeners, the blood vessels in your head dilated to twice their size due to glutamate rebound, aching from mitochondrial dysfunction and the inflammatory response to being poisoned by a probable human carcinogen. Mate.
In that diminished state, you’re good for nothing. You’re duvet fodder. And so to pass the time while your enzymes get to work breaking down that acetaldehyde, you legend, you’re going to need company. Not actual company. Other people are what got you into this mess, probably. No, what you need are on-screen friends – softly spoken, slow-moving, on-screen friends who may well be doing something in a meadow, or near a pond. Baking is magical, the perfect blend of science and artistry, a sterling example of needing to learn the rules of the game before you can begin to break them. But even then, baking has the malleability to allow for changes to be made and substitutions to be introduced. Baking’s beauty comes in its ability to remain timeless, even as it evolves, always remaining itself no matter which of its aspects might change.
So what exactly has gone so wrong with “The Great British Baking Show”?

The latest season of Channel 4’s “The Great British Bake-Off” has gone down like a deflated soufflé with U.K. viewers.
Season 12 launched on Tuesday night with an audience of only 5.7 million — its lowest ratings yet since moving from BBC to Channel 4, industry outlet Broadcast reported.
It marks a dramatic decline even from last year, when the show’s season 11 finale set records for Channel 4 with an average audience of 9.2 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Channel 4 show since records began in 2002.
The latest season will air in the U.S. on Netflix on Sept. 24.
Tuesday evening’s numbers were not helped by the fact that some viewers trying to watch the episode online were met with a “technical error” on the Channel 4 streaming platform All4.

UK producers laud Production Restart Scheme but warn of rising costs and shortage of crew, equipment
”It is not something that is sustainable should this pandemic continue indefinitely.”
A year after the UK government launched the £500m Production Restart Scheme (Prs) for film and TV shoots that would not otherwise have been able to secure insurance for Covid-related costs, producers, financiers and insurance experts confirm it has been an astonishing success.
“If it hadn’t been for the Production Restart Scheme, we would not have been able to make the film,” says producer Elizabeth Karlsen of Number 9 Films of Mothering Sunday which went into production in mid-September last year as one of the first films to use the scheme.

The first time we meet Nadiya Hussain in the “Great British Baking Show” tent, she’s trying to convince the judges that making a cake with green cardamom is a good idea. “Is that the only flavor?” Mary Berry asks, delicately but with enough of a point to convey her skepticism. Paul Hollywood, blunt as always, raises his eyebrows and informs her that the “interesting” choice of cardamom “could be fantastic, or it could be disastrous.” Such intrigued but ultimately wary questions about “exotic” flavors, familiar to most any person of color who’s competed on the show over the years, followed Hussain throughout the season — which she eventually won, with a final “Big Fat British Wedding Cake” showstopper draped in marshmallow fondant and custom sari. (And for the record: Berry and Hollywood ended up loving that first “very clever” cardamom cake.)
Six years later, Hussain is a beloved baking personality unto herself.

With Covid-19 percolating across the United States and much of the country on lockdown, there’s never been a better time to hunker down at home and partake of TV series befitting the entire family — whether that involves kids, parents or even pets. The following shows have a little something for everyone, whether it’s food (“MasterChef Junior”) acrobatic flips (“American Ninja Warrior”) or characters from the iconic and beloved “Star Wars” franchise.
“American Ninja Warrior”
(NBC)
The show’s mixture of amazing athletic feats and hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila’s infectious enthusiasm has inspired fans of all ages to construct outdoor obstacle courses, imitating their favorite Ninjas. One strength of the show is the way it showcases the stories of the competitors, allowing the viewers to form a bond that, over the years, has become a community. This season, because of the Covid protocols, “Anw” chose the...

On the “Great British Bake Off,” a group of amateur bakers compete against each other in a series of rounds: signature dish, technical challenge and showstopper. At the end of each episode, the judges decide on both the star baker and the contestant who will be sent home. The final is between the last three bakers still standing by their ovens. Scroll through the “Great British Bake Off” winners below to see: who came in first in each series; who placed second and third; and what were the final signature, technical and showstopper dishes of the champion.
The first four series of “The Great British Bake Off” aired on BBC Two, the next three were on BBC One, and from series eight on it has been on Channel 4. When “Gbbo” moved to Channel 4, hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc as well as judge Mary Berry decided to leave the show.

It's hard to imagine The Great British Baking Show (aka The Great British Bake Off) getting off the ground without Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, but that's very nearly what happened at the very start! The iconic hosts did quit the show a few years back, and it's common knowledge why Mel and Sue quit back then, but that apparently wasn't the the first time they were ready to walk away.
When the series began filming its very first season back in 2010, Mel and Sue apparently almost quit on the first day of filming, they told the Radio Times. "We resigned, basically, because it was not a kind show. They were pointing cameras in the bakers' faces and making them cry and saying, 'Tell us about your dead gran.' So we had very stiff words about how we wanted to proceed," Sue explained. They only agreed to stay on...

Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge, a mother of three and apparently a bit of a baker. During the BBC's special A Berry Royal Christmas, the 37-year-old royal revealed she enjoys making birthday cakes for her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. "I love making the cake," Kate told The Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry, who also appeared in the special, per Hello!. "It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it." It looks like her little ones join in on the fun, as well. When asked if she ever cooks with her children, Kate told the...
