In 2002, he landed a role in one of the episodes on "Young Lions", an Australian series starring Alex Dimitriatis.
He was chosen for the role of "Johnny Nguyen" from a group of more than 50 auditions.
He succeeded the audition due to his ability to improvise quickly on the spot, and for his ability to yell obscenities in Vietnamese (even though he does not speak the language).
The episode he appeared in was of a modern day "Romeo & Juliette", a Vietnamese boy in love with a Lebanese girl, causing a gang war between the two races.
This was filmed in Cabramatta, New South Wales.
In 2004, he asked to audition for the role of "Tran" for the movie "Little Fish" (starring Cate Blanchett and Sam Neil), however comedian Anh Do was the successful candidate for the role.
