Mary’s husband gets relocated for work which allows her to move back to her suburban hometown. As her family ties up loose ends back home, Mary moves into their new house all alone and….waits. Yet in this idealistic world, something seems very odd. The Ice Cream Man, a symbol of youth and good times, starts killing some of her neighbors. Mary soon learns that the suburbs are scarier in more ways that she ever remembered.
Going into The Ice Cream Truck I have to admit I had some lofty expectations… When I read this movie was directed by the grand-daughter of one Elmore Leonard. Now yes, I know I shouldn’t let that factor into how I choose my viewing but its a good place to start.

Actress Mischa Barton, once beloved on TV’s The O.C., became something of a cause célèbre as her star fell following a number of personal problems - in much the same way as Lindsay Lohan did following her meteoric rise to fame – has recently carved out solid career in independent genre cinema after falling out of favour with the Hollywood mainstream. Tagline: "Two Men. Twelve Personalities. One Living Hell." Director: Brian M. Conley and Nathan Ives. Writers: Brian M. Conley, Sean Decker and Nathan Ives. Cast: Mischa Barton, Tracie Thoms, Jackson Davis, Bailey Anne Borders and Kareem J. Grimes. The Basement is a co-directed film from Brian M. Conley and Nathan Ives. This indie horror title had a showing at 2017's Shriekfest. Recently, this title was at the Calgary Horror Convention (June 3rd). Here, The Basement was nominated for Best Horror Feature. This title brings Mischa Barton back to the screen, infamous for her role in 2009's Homecoming. Very violent, this title offers all sorts of dire scenarios, in one primary location. Yes, it is a basement of course. The film also offers a number of villains, one is particularly interesting with his many personalities. Even the late reveal of character motivations is well done; one character is especially devious. All...

A struggling writer, Mary moves back to the quiet, suburban neighborhood where she grew up. Hoping that some isolation and a fresh change of scenery will unclog her writers’ block, Mary has arrived ahead of her husband and kids. In just two weeks Mary has to Not sleep with the local pool boy, stop an ice cream truck driving serial killer, and write the great American novel.
My apologies, if any of that sounded exciting, that’s my fault. The Ice Cream Truck is like a tall glass of room temperature water. It’s neither hot or cold, but instead just a bland, tasteless experience with nothing to really offer except a thankfully short run time.
From the synth-heavy score, to the smattering of faint neon purple lighting,...

I enjoyed The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, the Y/A sci-fi novel that this film is based on. I thought it was interesting, entertaining and fun. I was intrigued to see if the film would be able to deliver those same things. I didn’t see the film right away, and I began to notice the negative reviews coming out about it. People giving it some super-low ratings and calling it “terrible” and “worthless” and other similar words. I wanted to check it out for myself.

Columbia Pictures dropped their new action/thriller movie, "The 5th Wave," into theaters this weekend, and all the reviews are in from the major, top film critics, and it turns out that most of them were none too pleased with it, giving it only an overall 34 score out of a possible 100 across 26 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film features: Bailey Anne Borders, Chloë Grace Moretz, Gabriela Lopez, Maggie Siff, Matthew Zuk, Nick Robinson and Ron Livingston. We've added statements from a few of the critics, beloiw. Brian Truitt over at USA Today, gave it an 75 score, saying: "The 5th Wave finds a way to make the most of Moretz’s talents, with the emotionality she showed in If I Stay and the utter physical chutzpah of her Kick-Ass films." Clark Collis over at Entertainment Weekly, gave it a 58 score. He stated: "The frankly preposterous nature of the film...

"You should see the other girls." Oh, you haven't heard about this film yet? A wild action/horror indie film called Raze that stars stunt-woman Zoe Bell (who also produced) as well as Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms, Sherilyn Fenn, Doug Jones, Bailey Anne Borders, Rebecca Marshall, Adrienne Wilkinson and Allene Quincy. The plot involves 50 women that are kidnapped and held captive and forced to fight to the death. Uh yea, that sounds kind of awesome, and we have a trailer and a poster to prove it. The trailer is old, but the poster is brand new (and it reminds me a bit of the vintage Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! poster art) timed with the upcoming New York Comic-Con premiere. Now you've heard of this film, but will you watch it? You tell us. Here's the new promo poster for Josh C. Waller's film Raze, originally debuted by Entertainment Weekly:...

Waller from a script by Robert Beaucage, stars Rachel Nichols (Star Trek, P2, The Amityville Horror), Zoe Bell (Kill Bill, Grindhouse), Tracie Thoms (Death Proof, Rent), Sherilyn Fenn ("Twin Peaks," Boxing Helena), Rebecca Marshall (Saw 3D, That’s My Boy), Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), Bruce Thomas (Babysitter Wanted, Kyle Xy), Tara Macken (The Hunger Games), Adrienne Wilkinson ("Xena", Star Wars :The Force Unleashed), Nicole Steinwedell (The Unit), Bailey Borders, Allene Quincy, Jordan James Smith, Amy Johnston, Victoria Cruz and Brianna Gage.
