Stars: Iwan Rheon, Katelyn Mager, Brendan Taylor, Jessie Fraser, Steve Bradley, Barbara Wallace, Trevor Gemma, Natasha Quirke, Leala Selina, Casey Strandquist | Written by Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin, Bob Woolsey, Meagan Hotz, Lindsey Mann | Directed by Nicholas Humphries

A horror version of The Little Mermaid sounds like the best and worst idea for a movie but that’s exactly how Mermaid’s Curse is described.

To add some other strangeness to proceedings this story is set in 1930s Oklahoma, America and a family run business that involves five sisters singing and dancing. And we get to watch a lot of 1930s-style singing and dancing, which isn’t exactly what I expected. In among that we get some gangsters who offer to save the family business but as with all gangsters they have some unpleasant conditions to the deal. You might be thinking how exactly this all links up with a mermaid and

Movie Review – Mermaid’s Song (2015)

Mermaid’s Song, 2015.

Directed by Nicholas Humphries.

Starring Iwan Rheon, Katelyn Mager, and Brendan Taylor.

Synopsis:

When Serena decides to give up her life as a mermaid to live on the land, her daughter, Charlotte, is given a choice: continue to live as a human or return to the sea and restore the balance.

Originally titled Charlotte’s Song, Mermaid’s Song premiered at the Vancouver Film Fest in 2015 but is being released on demand for the first time this week. Riffing on the story of The Little Mermaid, much of the promotion is focusing on Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones), who plays a gangster that makes an investment in the family-owned bar run by Charlotte’s dad, George (Brendan Taylor), but his screen time is minimal and will likely disappoint anyone who seeks out the film for this reason.

While you might not be familiar with her work, Katelyn Mager,

More Casting News for NBC's 17th Precinct

And two more names have been added to the ever-growing roster for NBC's "17th Precinct", both of whom have a bit of experience with TV law enforcement, albeit on different sides of the fence.

Per Deadline the first new addition is Esai Morales ("NYPD Blue", "24"), who will portray Lt. Liam Butterfield, second in command in the precinct; and next is Eamonn Walker (pictured, "Oz"), who will be heading things up as Detective Chief Inspector Wilder Blanks.

The Sony TV-produced drama is set in the fictional town of Excelsior where magic and supernatural elements rule over science and revolves around the cops at the local 17th Precinct. Jamie Bamber portrays crime scene expert Caolán Longstreet, and Kristin Kreuk guest stars in the pilot as his wife, Susan. Tricia Helfer plays Morgana, a necromancer, the magical equivalent of a coroner, who is an expert at manipulating the potions, tools, herbs, and spells
