Since 2004 member of the Regional Synod of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck and the Chamber for Public Administration of the EKD.
Member of the SPD since 1987, active in local politics and with the Young Socialists in the SPD, including 1993 to 1995 Deputy Federal Chairman of the Young Socialists, since 2001 Chairman of the SPD Hersfeld-Rotenburg, since 1996 Executive Board member of the SPD district Hesse-North.
