Warning! Spoilers for season 1 of Class!
Season 1 of Netflix’s Class has laid the groundwork for a new season 2 mystery with its twist ending. When a show revolves around a mystery as Class does, there’s often pressure to avoid solving the mystery in its entirety to leave room for future seasons, which, while effective, can lead to a rambling story that never arrives at its destination. Luckily, Class dodged this bullet with a season 1 full of drama, intrigue, and heartbreak that prepared to pivot to a second mystery if it gets a season 2.
Season 1 of Class follows three working-class students, Dheeraj Kumar Valmiki (Piyush Khati), Saba Manzoor (Madhyama Segal), and Balli Sehrawat (Cwaayal Singh) when they transfer to the elite institution Hampton International after their public school burns down. Modeled after prestigious school and killer mystery of Netflix's Elite but set in Dehli, India, the three students must adjust...

An Indian adaptation of a Spanish drama series exploring societal hierarchy in the intersection of caste, class and privilege among students in a fictional school set in the heart of capital Delhi has kicked up a buzz on social media.
Netflix India’s Cla, the Hindi adaptation of the hit Spanish series Elite, follows the lives of three working-class students – Neeraj, Sabha, and Balli – who win scholarships to attend one of New Delhi’s most prestigious schools.
After the murder of a wealthy child named Suhani, excitement quickly turns to dread as they find themselves caught in a web of class warfare, secrets, and betrayal.
While the series is familiar to Elite, it addresses a variety of controversial issues that students in urban India face. From the get-go, Cla dives into the issues of Islamophobia, queer repression, abortion, bigotry, religious dogma, and the socioeconomic and cultural differences between people from different caste structures.

The Spanish series Elite has its remake, in this case, from India with Class, a series directed by Ashim Ahluwalia who tells us the story of three students from a poor district in Delhi who go to study in an elitistic high school in town, with the subsequent conflicts, adventures and murders.
It comes with the same structure and in the telling of the story the same premise. It justifies its change (a fire that makes the three students go to the expensive high school) and transports the Spanish Class to India.
Lots of you might say that plot-wise, you would rather settle for the original version and as for boldness, you would surely settle for the original which knew how to make use of its sexier side. In Class we have more social inequalities, less thriller and intrigue and more social discourse.
As always, it is a matter of...
