The Summer I Turned Pretty last released a new season in the summer of 2023, and while Amazon Prime Video renewed the popular teen drama series for a third season, the highly anticipated season ended up caught in the string of delays caused by the dual Hollywood labor strikes.

However, The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 will be coming this year with the new episodes expected to begin dropping sometime in summer 2025. The Summer I Turned Pretty creator and author Jenny Han teases season 3's release window. The popular Prime Video adaptation, based on creator Han's novel trilogy of the same name, focuses on Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and what happens once she finds herself in a love triangle with two brothers: Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty will debut in summer 2025, creator Jenny Han announced during Amazon’s Upfront presentation on Tuesday. While not many details on the third installment were given, Han did also reveal that Season 3 will be expanded to consist of 11 episodes.

Season 2 consisted of eight episodes, while Season 1 boasted just seven episodes.

Production on Season 3 is currently underway. Series stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno joined Han on stage Tuesday to share a bit about how filming is going.

“I’m really excited to see what comes next for all of us in the show itself, especially for Jeremiah and Belly’s final moments in Season 2,” Casalegno said.

Amazon, during its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, revealed that the third season of its popular take on Jenny Han’s beloved young adult book trilogy will not air until 2025.

Additionally, Amazon revealed that the third season — formally announced last August — will consist of 11 episodes. That’s up from the previously announced 10 and a high for the show after seasons one and two featured seven and eight installments, respectively.

Season three of Summer was greenlit ahead of both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year. Production on the new season was delayed until late last year, after both the writers and performers strikes were resolved and the reason for the show’s delayed return. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.

“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

The season delves into the aftermath of Susannah's death as the Cousins Beach group rally to save the summer house from being sold by her sister. And while the season excelled in some aspects, like Taylor and Steven's romantic tension, it fell short when it came to sensitively handling how the ripple effects of grief play out in the infamous love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. There was no shortage of moments to cringe at, including Jeremiah's one-liners and mischievous lip bites or Belly's emotional outburst at Susannah's funeral. But there was one thing that stood out from the other moments, and that was how Belly (Lola Tung) continuously compared her loss and grief to that of Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney), Susannah's sons.

Ironically, one of Steven’s (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor’s (Rain Spencer) first conflicts as a couple revolves around Belly’s (Lola Tung) choice of romantic partners between Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).

The love triangle debate became more contentious during Season 2 after Belly and Conrad had tried being together, but Susannah’s cancer made Conrad push Belly away. Their breakup was painful because Conrad didn’t exactly fight for Belly even though he was the one who initiated the conversation by saying he needed to talk to her. Belly had briefly held Jeremiah’s heart last season before Conrad returned her love, and Jere was very hurt when Belly ended up with Conrad.
