We can't believe the long-awaited second season of Xo, Kitty is finally streaming on Netflix! After last season's jaw-dropping cliffhanger, our favorite teen matchmaker is back at Kiss, prepared to tackle whatever drama comes her way. Though, for her sanity, let’s hope it’s a smooth sailing semester this time! Who are we kidding, though? With Kitty, chaos is practically guaranteed—and we’re here for every second of it! Q doesn't call her his chaos queen for nothing.
Unfortunately, the second season is two episodes shorter than the first. With each episode clocking in at 30 minutes or less, the season flies by. You hit play on the first episode, and before you know it, you’ve already reached the season 2 finale! Honestly, it seems like the episodes go by even quicker because the story is so engaging and packed with twists, leaving you wanting more after each one.

Since we last spent a summer on Cousins Beach, almost two years have flown by. The Summer I Turned Pretty last released a new season in the summer of 2023, and while Amazon Prime Video renewed the popular teen drama series for a third season, the highly anticipated season ended up caught in the string of delays caused by the dual Hollywood labor strikes.
However, The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 will be coming this year with the new episodes expected to begin dropping sometime in summer 2025. Until then, there's still so much to learn about the upcoming season, including the synopsis, trailer, and first-look images. While those things have sadly not yet been released by Prime Video, there are still updates for fans to catch up on.

The Summer I Turned Pretty creator and author Jenny Han teases season 3's release window. The popular Prime Video adaptation, based on creator Han's novel trilogy of the same name, focuses on Isabel "Belly" Conklin (Lola Tung) and what happens once she finds herself in a love triangle with two brothers: Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Even though The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 was renewed back in August 2023, new episodes have been delayed by the writers' and actors' strikes which impacted filming across Hollywood. But the wait may soon be over.
In a post on Instagram, which was timed to the holidays, Han hinted that the show's return will feature a Christmas episode. In the caption of the post, which is included below, Han also teases season 3 will be released in summer 2025. The author wrote: “Can’t wait to spend Christmas in Cousins with you guys this summer.

The heyday of teen romance TV shows from the late 1990s to the early 2010s created some of the best and most influential adolescent series of all time. This was the period when teenagers and the pangs of adolescence were starting to be taken seriously by film and television, as young adults were proving themselves to be a vast and marketable audience base. While there are many other great shows about teenagers that feature love stories, not all of them share the specific tone and atmosphere that makes a teen romance TV show so unique.
There are plenty of toxic couples in teen dramas, as most of the relationships presented in these shows are far from perfect and often problematic. However, these are easy to spot looking back on these shows, and it's important to remember to take most storylines and romantic interests in teen dramas with a grain of salt.

Belly Conrad (Lola Tung) has kind of been on her villain arc in The Summer I Turned Pretty, and the show needs to know that they're not doing the character any favors. The coming-of-age drama, The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on the trilogy of novels by Jenny Han, has always been filled with the painfully awkward moments from your high school years that you desperately try to remove any evidence of from your Facebook page. It can make the show particularly trying to watch at times, but it's at least always honest and the situations relatable.
Shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty are filled with characters making wrong choices. They're young people in love, who made all the right choices at that time? The lead character of The Summer I Turned Pretty is no different, and Belly often finds herself in tough situations that she's not always the most equipped to handle.

Romance novels lend themselves to being adapted into TV shows, as their character-driven stories connect with audiences and make for compelling narratives. It's not surprising that so many of the best romantic television series are based on best-selling books consumed by a variety of readers. Screen iterations of literature make up a large part of film and television, and it follows that novel series would translate well to television. The multiple episodes and potential for many seasons mean that a long and complex story can be developed onscreen.
There are still many romance books that deserve TV show adaptations, as new and exciting additions to the genre are being published every day. The most important aspect of any romance story is the central relationship between the main couple. In books, the characters' chemistry is created by the author, but in TV shows, it's up to the actors to carry the...

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is finally coming in 2025 after an unexpected hiatus due to industry strikes. Season 3 will have 11 episodes, the most in the series, giving more time to follow the book trilogy's story. The main cast, including Lola Tung and Christopher Briney, is expected to return for the highly anticipated season.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is paying off its two-year hiatus with an exciting season 3 change. The Summer I Turned Pretty's season 2 finale premiered August 18, 2023, on Prime Video, marking eight months and counting until audiences can access its next new season. The coming-of-age romantic drama, based on Jenny Han's novel trilogy of the same name, was noticeably missing from Prime Video's 2024 slate, which raised questions about when more of Isabel "Belly" Conklin's love triangle story would return.

Amazon, during its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, revealed that the third season of its popular take on Jenny Han’s beloved young adult book trilogy will not air until 2025.
Additionally, Amazon revealed that the third season — formally announced last August — will consist of 11 episodes. That’s up from the previously announced 10 and a high for the show after seasons one and two featured seven and eight installments, respectively.
Season three of Summer was greenlit ahead of both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year. Production on the new season was delayed until late last year, after both the writers and performers strikes were resolved and the reason for the show’s delayed return. Filming is currently under way. Season one aired in summer 2022, followed by the sophomore run in summer 2023. Han said from the upfronts...

Most of us can agree that TV shows thrive on their romantic storylines, but over the years love triangles have increasingly taken over TV’s romantic storylines and divided fans.
Iconic love triangles have become a commonly used trope to hook viewers in. There is nothing like declaring who the heroine should be with and having to stick with them through the rollercoaster of intense declarations of love and breakups. But despite how annoying and cliché love triangles can be, they lead to some of the best TV moments. So, naturally we decided to take a look at TV’s most infuriating love triangles.

Netflix's adaptation of the young adult novel "My Life with the Walter Boys" has quickly gained popularity, similar to Amazon Prime Video's hit series "The Summer I Turned Pretty." Both shows feature a love triangle between the main character and two brothers and themes of trauma, grief, and typical teen drama conflicts. While "The Summer I Turned Pretty" has three novels to draw from, "My Life with the Walter Boys" will have to stretch out the story for multiple seasons, which could pose challenges in the future.
Streaming services are seemingly flooded with teen romance television shows nowadays, and Netflix is the latest platform to learn from its competitors and jump on the bandwagon. The company decided to take a chance on a 2014 young adult novel and adapt it into a series, which premiered in December 2023, and so far, it seems as if the streaming service's bet has paid off.

We've been obsessed with "The Summer I Turned Pretty" ever since we devoured the first season of the teen drama adapted from Jenny Han's cult-favorite YA book series in 2022. The Lola Tung-led show was a massive hit and put its young stars like Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, and more on the map.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" is a multigenerational drama that focuses on the protagonist, Isabel "Belly" Conklin's, summer at the fictitious Cousins Beach, which serves as a jumping-off point for the teenager to not only explore the wondrous, confusing, and heart-stopping phases of young love, but also to find herself.
Season one sees Belly become entangled in a love triangle as her lifelong crush, Conrad (Briney), begins to reciprocate her feelings just as his younger brother, Jeremiah (Casalegno), also begins to pursue her romantically. The dilemma of Team Conrad (Christopher Briney) or Team Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) is one that fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty know all too well. As the love triangle in the series thickens, viewers are eager to know which side Lola Tung, who portrays the conflicted Isabel “Belly” Conklin, is on.
But if you expect a straightforward answer from Tung, you might be surprised. Not only has the actor made her stance clear, but her consistency in championing her character, Belly, offers a nuanced take on the show’s tangled relationships.
Lola Tung isn’t necessarily Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah
For Tung, it’s a question as old as the love triangle trope: Conrad or Jeremiah? The sibling rivalry in The Summer I Turned Pretty adds an irresistible layer of drama to the story. But when confronted about her character’s romantic affiliations, Tung provided her usual response.

Just as music is a big part of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Amazon Prime Video original series’ star, Lola Tung, used it to get into character. What the actor listened to for a fast way to get into Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s “headspace” and what she looked for in songs.

Kim Petras’s “You Can’t Do Better” might’ve blared through the speakers as Belly sang along on the way to Cousins with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) in the Tsitp premiere episode. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.
“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

The talented cast of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes us on an emotional journey throughout the eight episodes of season two. The season delves into the aftermath of Susannah's death as the Cousins Beach group rally to save the summer house from being sold by her sister. And while the season excelled in some aspects, like Taylor and Steven's romantic tension, it fell short when it came to sensitively handling how the ripple effects of grief play out in the infamous love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. There was no shortage of moments to cringe at, including Jeremiah's one-liners and mischievous lip bites or Belly's emotional outburst at Susannah's funeral. But there was one thing that stood out from the other moments, and that was how Belly (Lola Tung) continuously compared her loss and grief to that of Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney), Susannah's sons.

Ironically, one of Steven’s (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor’s (Rain Spencer) first conflicts as a couple revolves around Belly’s (Lola Tung) choice of romantic partners between Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).
The love triangle debate became more contentious during Season 2 after Belly and Conrad had tried being together, but Susannah’s cancer made Conrad push Belly away. Their breakup was painful because Conrad didn’t exactly fight for Belly even though he was the one who initiated the conversation by saying he needed to talk to her. Belly had briefly held Jeremiah’s heart last season before Conrad returned her love, and Jere was very hurt when Belly ended up with Conrad.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 adapts Jenny Han's second book, It's Not Summer Without You, with some crucial differences that fit the strengths of television storytelling. The relationship between Taylor and Steven is expanded upon in the show, and the character Cam has a bigger role than in the books. On the heels of Emmy-nominated series “Poker Face” and “Mrs. Davis” comes the return of Craig Robinson’s comedy “Killing It.” The show stars Robinson and Claudia O’Doherty as Craig and Jillian, two underdogs who team up to kill snakes to win prize money, a real thing that happens in Florida as a means of protecting the ecosystem from invasive pythons.

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” actress Lola Tung supports the full circle ending of Season 2 for her character Isabel “Belly” Conklin.
Belly has navigated an emotional rollercoaster — from grieving Susannah and feeling isolated from the boys to confronting Conrad after two fallouts with him and then kissing Jeremiah — to reach the final scene of Season 2. Once her coach accepts, Belly gets fired up playing the sport she loves surrounded by some of her biggest cheerleaders — including her best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) in addition to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
“It’s really cool because the first time we see Belly in the present, besides the beginning flashback in episode one, she’s by herself. She’s at school in her own world. And the last time we see her,...
