For the group’s 25th anniversary, Little Big Town is pouring some sugar on it. Some Sugarland, actually, as the two country groups will be spending some quality time together later this year, in the wake of their joint performance Sunday night on the CMT Music Awards, where they hooked up to sing their newly arranged cover of Phil Collins’ 1985 smash “Take Me Home.”
The day after the meeting of the vocal-group titans on the CBS awards telecast, Lbt and Sugarland have released a studio version of the Collins tune they performed live, along with announcing a joint tour in the fall that will see them hit the road together for 18 dates. The tour starts Oct. 24 in Greenville, Sc and wraps Dec. 13 with a hometown show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Lifetime’s interest in stalking this month continues with screenwriter David Chester’s bonkers She’s Obsessed with My Husband. Directed by Doug Campbell with a lurid, campy touch, the film is a delightful romp that only falters when it focuses too much on its least interesting character in the third act. Aside from that misstep, however, this Lifetime property is an absolute blast.
The film opens with the usual attention-grabbing set piece. On their 19th wedding anniversary, Mason (Zach De Nardi) discovers his wife Violet (Alissa Filoramo) looking at pictures of her high school sweetheart Garrett. When Mason confronts Violet, ripping her beloved picture in the process, she strangles him with his own tie.
While it is disappointing to learn later that this isn’t a murder (though it does result in divorce), it’s a very amusing way to begin the film. What is even more delightful is...

The Melvins have announced a new album, Tarantula Heart, and shared the video for “Working the Ditch” ahead of the LP’s April 19th release date.
Billed as one of the veteran band’s most eccentric records to date, Tarantula Heart sees King Buzzo and company in collaboration with Ministry drummer Ray Mayorga and We Are the Asteroid guitarist and longtime Melvins associate Gary Chester, supplementing the group’s core lineup.
As heard on “Working the Ditch,” the additional instrumentalists result in new musical textures and an expanded sound, featuring double-tracked drums — Mayorga and Dale Crover’s takes stacked and edited together — and Chester’s lead guitar, which creates a post-metal haze against Buzzo’s more brutal riffs and barked vocals.
“The way we approached Tarantula Heart was different than any other Melvins’ album,” explained King Buzzo, aka Buzz Osborne, via the album press release. “I had Dale and Roy Mayorga...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Can You Spoil Something This Surreal?
Few experiences surpass stumbling onto a jaw-dropping moment in film totally unspoiled. The big twist in “One Cut of the Dead.” The Fern Mayo reveal in “Jawbreaker.” Top to bottom, every second of “Titane.” These are scenes across varying genres and eras that live in my bones as electric moments I didn’t expect to see, but that reminded me why I whole-heartedly love the movies when I did. Hence, this column’s spoiler-free/spoiler-filled bifurcation.

Metallica are considered an elite live act, and they take their craft seriously enough to release soundboard recordings of nearly every live performance.
In other words, Metallica mean business when they’re onstage, and few have dared to interrupt the thrash legends when they’re in the midst of a set — even for a good laugh. However, one band decided to push the envelope back in 2003… with the blessing of Metallica’s security.
Linkin Park vocalist/guitarist Mike Shinoda recently recalled a humorous anecdote about the time his band broke ground and became the first band to prank Metallica onstage. It happened toward the tail-end of Metallica’s “Summer Sanitarium” tour with Linkin Park.

A new streaming lobby group, which formed one day before the Writers Guild of America officially ended their 148-day strike, says it is looking to have a collective voice in Washington, D.C. and distinguish itself from big-tech companies. But critics believe it’s preparing for a fight against future government regulation.
While the new Streaming Innovation Alliance (Sia), which includes Netflix, Disney and Max, says the timing with the WGA was coincidental, the move also came two months after the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee voted to advance a bill aimed at protecting children from dangerous or extremist online content, including on streaming services — a law individual streamers have lobbied against.

The concept of death can be confusing at any age. Even adults have a hard time processing this unavoidable part of life. For young people, though, death should be the last thing on their minds. And for a long time, the two main characters of Crazy Fun Park didn’t have to consider their mortality. Best friends Chester and Mapplethorpe were more concerned with finishing their graphic novel and making it to school on time each morning than the possibility of never seeing each other again. Yet in this Australian teen-drama series, death catches these boys completely off guard and puts their friendship to the test.
Death is typically the conclusion of relationships in other stories, but here it’s just the beginning for these two soulmates. Chester and Mapplethorpe (neatly played by Henry Strand and Stacy Clausen) are the embodiment of the word “inseparable.” Drawing from real life, series...

The Flash arrived on the CW as an antidote to the heavy, bleak world of Arrow. Our Scarlet Speedster was going to be a bright, upbeat superhero series and it was—at first. With each successive season, it grew bleaker and more chaotic as an overstuffed cast all demanded screentime and the writing staff never seemed to grasp that there were other villains than those connected to the Speed Force.
The 2022-23 television season brought us The Flash’s ninth and final season, providing a chance to give closure to the core characters. Tomorrow, Warner Home Entertainment releases The Flash: The Complete Ninth and Final Season.
Across the truncated season, everyone had a moment to shine, get their due, take a bow and move aside so the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Nora West Allen (Candice Patton) center got to have the last word as they finally welcomed Nora to the preset.

From the day we’re born, we’re fed these preconceived notions about everything—gender, class, economy, you name it. And most of us cling to these conventional ideas and stubbornly refuse to step outside of them. Humans are born brainwashed, and even though we’re gifted with consciousness, creativity, and a unique thought process in each individual, instead of questioning the norms, most of us get even more attached to them. External forces like consumerism and capitalism are somehow to blame for it, as even the food we eat and the face cream we slather on somehow manage to hypnotize us. They enchant us with their clever advertising, and we readily fall for it, blinded by their seemingly harmless effectiveness. Who needs free will when we can be happily trapped in this circus of labyrinthine manipulation?

Vanessa Chester got a self-tape audition request for a role that sounded perfect. She asked an actress friend to run lines as she recorded herself, only to discover that her friend believed she’d just booked the same role. Through Chester, not the casting office, she learned that the production decided to go in another direction.
Unhappy coincidence? Sure. It’s also one of the many reasons why the new standard of self-taping is more complicated and often more stressful than actors running between castings, LA traffic be damned.
Self-tapes have their advantages: greater accessibility, wider pools of candidates, and chances for actors to edit and reset their performances. But while they were once an occasional ask, the pandemic made self-tapes the norm. Today, in-person auditions are the exception.

Disturbed singer David Draiman revealed on Tuesday (May 30th) that he had a tumor removed from his arm last week. On Wednesday (May 31st), he happpily reported, “It’s benign! Thank God!”

Judging purely from the downward quality graph of its last few seasons and even the major portion of the final one, it feels like CW’s The Flash should have wrapped things up years ago. Even the most sincere fans of the series will acknowledge that poor writing and being overcrowded by unnecessary characters have absolutely destroyed any sort of significance the series ever had. It makes the realization all the more painful that the impeccable first two seasons of the series were trendsetting in superhero adaptations because they wore qualities like novelty, optimism, and hope on their sleeve. With the series finale releasing, the realization will dawn heavily on the fans who have invested themselves in the series for nine long years, as with the conclusion of the series, the last vestiges of the Arrowverse, the TV universe it was a part of, are gone in a flash too.

“The Flash” has officially crossed the finish line on The CW and with it, the Arrowverse has officially come to an end. So, how exactly did the show wrap up its nine seasons and an entire on-screen universe?
Well, the good news is pretty much everyone got their happy ending. But before we can get to the ending, let’s start at the beginning.
As promised, Tom Cavanaugh indeed returned for the series finale of “The Flash,” and pretty early too. Eobard Thawne was not the only major villain from Barry’s (Grant Gustin) past that returned though. Savitar made an appearance too, along with Karan Oberoi’s Godspeed and a few others.

In the year 2000, two of the big rising names in teen movies partnered up for a stoner buddy comedy in the vein of Bill & Ted and Dumb and Dumber. Ashton Kutcher, hot off the popularity of That 70’s Show, and American Pie‘s scene-stealing star Seann William Scott, would play the simple-minded but lovable Jesse and Chester in Dude, Where’s My Car? Seann William Scott is currently making a villainous turn in the horror film The Wrath of Becky, and the star sits down to talk the film with ScreenRant when he’s asked about what happened to a sequel to Dude, Where’s my Car? and if there could still be a chance of one.

This week in the penultimate episode of The Flash ever, Eddie Thawne reunited with Barry, in the year 2049 — after which the resurrected detective was faced with a pivotal decision.
In “A New World, Part Three,” the scientist formerly known as Malcolm Gilmore came to realize that he is very much the late Eddie Thawne, resurrected. But just as he debated Korber on what to do next, a singularity appeared in the 2049 sky and sucked away the Ccpd captain.

The series concluding story arc of CW’s The Flash, titled “A New World,” introduces its second part with the eleventh episode of the series, which gives us a glimpse into the other side of the narrative of the prime timeline. In the previous episode, we saw Barry getting teleported to the year 2000 by the influence of mysterious blue energy, and he had to relive the fateful day of his mother’s death at the hands of Eobard Thawne. Going parallel with this narrative is the story of Dr. Malcolm Gilmore, who looks exactly like Eddie Thawne and, in the previous episode, got struck by lightning, after which he came across a case file that turned out to be the death report of Eddie Thawne. In the second chapter of the final saga of the series, viewers get more of an idea about Khione’s powers as the mysterious blue...

Disturbed singer David Draiman made an impassioned and personal speech onstage during a recent show in Milwaukee, telling the audience that he recently almost lost his life to “addiction and depression.”
While referencing the Disturbed song “A Reason to Fight,” an emotional Draiman mentioned how he missed his late friends like Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell,” while adding that a couple months ago he “almost joined them.”
He told the crowd the following:
“A reason to fight — we all need one. The demons that are known as addiction and depression are very, very real. They are diseases no different than cancer. You can’t see depression. You can’t see addiction. It festers inside. It metastasizes, takes over your body and mind, your soul. And I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of losing everybody I love to depression and addiction.

As we predicted, the emotional reunion with Og Arrowverse characters in the previous episode indeed turned out to be a glow-up for CW’s The Flash, which is pretty evident from the tenth episode of the final season of the series. This episode begins the long narrative of the four-parter “A New World: Part One,” which will end the final saga of the scarlet speedster on the small screen. The first chapter of the prolonged concluding arc explores the pivotal moment of Barry Allen’s life that shaped the course of his destiny and, in the process, provides a chance for him to make peace with his arch-enemy.

In its final season, so far, C.W.’s The Flash has never really made the impression of making an honest effort to redeem itself from the mediocrity of the past few seasons, nor did it offer the long-time fans something to feel excited about—that is, until the recently released ninth episode of this season titled It’s my party, and I’ll die if I want to. It saw the return of fan-favorite CW Arrowverse icons, can be easily regarded as some of the top stuff in comic-book-oriented media on the small screen in recent times, along with HBO Max’s Titans Season 4 Episode 9 and the ongoing Superman & Lois. The long-awaited return of Green Arrow in the final season of The Flash was something that kept the fans binge-watching the series once again, and the episode brought him back with due reverence as well. After a couple of interlude episodes, CW’s “The Flash” is back on track, bringing Barry back into action, but somehow the eighth episode of this final season, titled “Partners in Time,” still feels like a filler or interlude. In the previous episode, we saw the Dreamer, aka Nia Nal, get her farewell in the Arrowverse. Mark Blaine left the team and went on a journey of his own after he realized his mistake of forcing Khione to shape herself in the image of his deceased partner, Frost. The pain Khione felt after Mark’s departure manifested into her newfound cryokinetic powers. The eighth episode focuses on Barry and Iris as they struggle with the responsibilities of upcoming parenthood in their own way and once again get into a loop, but unlike the time loop situation in the first episode, this one focuses on being stuck in space.

As the final season of CW’s “The Flash” slowly approaches its last lap, fan-favorite characters are brought back into the series to provide their arcs with the gratifying ends they so deserve. Nia Nal, aka the Dreamer, possibly makes her final appearance in the Arrowverse with the episode “Wildest Dreams,” which is the last part of the ongoing interlude chapter of the ninth season of “The Flash,” and the character gets a befitting send off as she realizes her true worth as the generational hero. Previously, viewers also found Mark to be in distress as he processed Frost’s demise and his willingness to turn Khione, a third personality of Caitlin Snow, into the image of his deceased partner. This episode also sheds some light on that storyline as well.

As The Flash hit the midpoint of its final season, a visit from Nia Nal aka Dreamer brought much drama, but also some updates on Supergirl and a few of her superfriends.
For starters — and as set up during Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman’s recent visit to Central City — Nia (played by Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines) showing up unannounced at Central City Citizen Media to ask Iris for help wasn’t entirely random. Because apparently, Iris took Ryan up on her offer and recently — albeit off-screen, grrr — joined Ryan, Nia, Kara Danvers/Supergirl and her sister Alex/Sentinel for mimosa brunch.

During its seven-season run, Gilmore Girls introduced a variety of different characters. Some had staying power, while others did not. We understand that sometimes a character had to be written off, even if they were important to Rory or Lorelai Gilmore. Still, there were some abandoned Gilmore Girls characters that we would have loved to see more of or, at the very least, had their sudden absence buttoned up.
The mystery of Dwight’s well-being will haunt us forever
Dwight appeared in exactly one episode of Gilmore Girls. He purchased a home directly next to Lorelai and Rory Gilmore and seemed excited to integrate into the community. “Eight O’Clock at the Oasis” was centered almost entirely around Dwight, and then he was gone.

Gunsmoke ran on CBS for 20 seasons between the years 1955 and 1975. The show remained consistent in the ensemble cast’s charm that pulled audiences in over time, but there were several changes that occurred over the series’ long run. Gunsmoke lead U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness) used the same gun in every episode, except a major one in season 1.

The difference between the Gunsmoke radio and television shows was initially quite negligible in the early days. As the adaptation moved along, it started to find its own footing and made some notable changes, some of which involved the medium itself. The radio series included more of a narration, while the television show put greater focus on the way that Matt handles the violence unfolding around him.

Gunsmoke is the longest-running Western television show of all time, but its legacy continues to live on in contemporary media. It ran for 20 seasons, starting in 1955 until 1975, which is largely thanks to the early seasons that put it on the map.
