Big Brother: 10 Winners That Are Totally Underrated

Big Brother: 10 Winners That Are Totally Underrated
CBS's flagship reality competition series Big Brother celebrated its 20th anniversary this past May. With 22 Seasons and 784 episodes so far, the show has been renewed for a 23rd season that will begin airing sometime in 2021. At last blush, Cody Calafiore was named winner of Bb 22 after defeating Enzo Palumbo in a unanimous 9-0 final jury vote.

While some Big Brother winners are extremely dominant from beginning to end, some are far more unheralded or underappreciated in their low-key approach to victory. Even after coming out as the winners, people still overlook their performances.

‘Big Brother 22’s’ Da’Vonne: Nicole ‘would’ve never gotten my vote this season’

‘Big Brother 22’s’ Da’Vonne: Nicole ‘would’ve never gotten my vote this season’
Da’Vonne Rogers came on to “Big Brother 22: All-Stars” with a goal of becoming the first Black winner of the game. That didn’t happen, but she did make franchise history in another way: becoming the first Black houseguest to be named America’s Favorite Player, taking home a cool $25,000.

We caught up with the three-time player to chat about her surprising (to her) Afp victory, why she voted for Cody Calafiore to win over Enzo Palumbo, why she wouldn’t have voted for Nicole Franzel this time, and if the Season 18 alums have hashed out the vote fiasco earlier in the season when Nicole pinned her vote to evict Ian Terry on David Alexander.

Gold Derby: You looked surprised to be even in the top 2 for Afp. Who did you think was going to be up there?

Da’Vonne: I don’t know who was going to be up there,

‘Big Brother 22’s’ Cody on when he decided to take Enzo and if Nicole will ever forgive him

‘Big Brother 22’s’ Cody on when he decided to take Enzo and if Nicole will ever forgive him
Cody Calafiore was not going to make the same mistake twice. In Season 16 of “Big Brother,” he took his ride or die Derrick Levasseur to the final two and lost decisively. He found himself in the same position in Season 22 of picking his final two companion, but this time chose strategically, selecting Enzo Palumbo over Season 18 champ and his Season 16 castmate Nicole Franzel.

“It weighed on me every time I was in the Dr,” Cody told Gold Derby. “I was like, ‘I cannot pick somebody and go the end and lose again.'”

The 29-year-old chose correctly as he ended up sweeping the jury votes 9-0 to pocket the $500,000 and break the long-standing Otev curse in the process. Of course, dominating the game with the Committee and winning eight comps help as well. Check out our exit interview with the second all-stars champ to find out when he decided to take Enzo,

Why we should’ve seen Cody evicting Nicole coming on ‘Big Brother 22’

Why we should’ve seen Cody evicting Nicole coming on ‘Big Brother 22’
In the end, “Big Brother 22” did live up to its motto even in its most predictable season ever. Sure, Cody Calafiore won the $500,000 on Wednesday’s live finale as we all thought he would, but everyone and their mother expected him to take Nicole Franzel to the final two (including probably Cody’s and Nicole’s since their moms are friends Irl). Instead, he did the unexpected and actually brought Enzo Palumbo, whom he crushed 9-0. That was always the better play for him, and in hindsight, we should’ve realized he would do it.

Cody seriously lucked out in that he ended up with two people with whom he had final twos and who both were willing to take him, the most dominant player of the season, to the final two. But unlike Nicole and Enzo, who frequently let us know their feelings and frustrations on the live feeds when they were alone,

Big Brother: All Stars Crowned a Winner--But Fans Are Losing It Over America's Favorite Houseguest
You gotta hand it to CBS: It delivered one of the most engrossing Big Brother finales in recent memory. After 85 days of competition, plenty of Covid-19 tests, and all the times Julie Chen promised to "expect the unexpected," season 22 of Big Brother: All Stars came to a close on Tuesday, Oct. 28 as the jury voted to crown the winner of that coveted $500,000 prize. During the two-hour finale, top-three contestants Cody Calafiore, Enzo Palumbo and Nicole Franzel participated in two live Hoh (Head of Household) competitions that secured their fate in the game. So what went down? Since Nicole had won the first leg of Hoh comps in the penultimate episode, the second faceoff was between Enzo and Cody, which...

Da’Vonne Rogers (‘Big Brother’) on winning America’s Favorite Houseguest: ‘Don’t make me ugly cry!’
“Don’t make me ugly cry!” Da’Vonne Rogers told “Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves after being named the winner of America’s Favorite Houseguest during the Season 22 finale. “Bb” fans cast nearly one million votes over the past week, with Da’Vonne and Tyler Crispen being their two most-loved players. Tyler had already won this coveted prize — and the $25,000 check that comes along with it — two summers ago, but this was Da’Vonne’s first victory.

Cody Calafiore is 15th man to win ‘Big Brother’ — still only 7 women
Just as Gold Derby predicted, Cody Calafiore (aka Bb Comics’ The Cali-Fury) became the winner of “Big Brother 22” on Wednesday, October 28. He faced off against Enzo Palumbo in the final two after solely eliminating Nicole Franzel when he took the last Head of Household. (Read our minute-by-minute finale recap.) By claiming the title of “All-Stars” champion, Cody became the 15th man to win “Big Brother” across 22 seasons, compared to only seven women.

The first two winners of CBS’s reality TV show were both men: the often-forgotten Eddie McGee (Season 1) and frequent returnee Dr. Will Kirby (Season 2). Following that, two women won consecutively for the first and only time in “Bb” history, Lisa Donahue (Season 3) and Jun Song (Season 4), neither of whom have ever been invited back to play again.

Besides Cody, Eddie and Will, the other dozen male winners were

‘Big Brother’ Recap: Find Out Who Won the Second ‘All-Stars’ Season
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the season finale of “Big Brother: All-Stars.”

In lieu of its usual live studio audience, “Big Brother” wrapped its 20th summer and yet another season of twists, surprises and controversies by awarding its second-ever “All-Stars” winner.

Host Julie Chen Moonves kicked off the night with Part 2 of the final Head of Household competition in which Cody Calafiore and Enzo Palumbo faced off to compete against Nicole Franzel who won last week’s Part 1 endurance game.

In a game of “Camera Hogs,” the two male players identified the faces of evicted houseguests and matched their photo with clues displayed on postcard boards. Then, they had to walk across a log, while avoiding getting knocked down by large pig heads swinging from side-to-side.

After making it across the bridge, Cody and Enzo had to hit a buzzer to take a “photo

Big Brother All-Stars Finale Recap: Did the Right Houseguest Win Season 22?
The three All-Stars who woke up in the Big Brother house on Wednesday morning have all reached the finale before. Two of them, however, wanted much different endings this time around.

Cody Calafiore and Enzo Palumbo respectively snagged second and third place in their original Bb seasons, though Cody’s decision to take Derrick Levasseur with him to the end ultimately went down as one of the most bone-headed moves in series history. This season, both men hoped to redeem themselves on finale night — and a whopping 72 percent of TVLine readers predicted Cody would win the All-Stars season, while 66 percent agreed Cody should win.

Cody, Nicole and Enzo join short list of ‘Big Brother’ players with multiple final 3 appearances
Cody Calafiore, Nicole Franzel and Enzo Palumbo are in the final three on “Big Brother 22,” and as Julie Chen Moonves noted on Thursday, they’ve all been here before. The trio has joined just three other people as the only players to make multiple final threes on the show.

The other three are Janelle Pierzina, Dan Gheesling and Paul Abrahamian. Janelle did it first in back-to-back years, placing third on Seasons 6 and 7, the first all-stars outing. Dan won Season 10 and then finished second on Season 14 to Ian Terry, becoming the first person to reach two final twos. Paul later joined him, finishing runner-up on Seasons 18 and 19 to Nicole and Josh Martinez, respectively.

Nicole’s victory came after she took seventh place on Season 16, in which Cody placed second to Derrick Levasseur. Enzo got third place on Season 12.

‘Big Brother 22’ spoilers: Enzo tries to keep the faith until the bitter end, so at least he still has that
Well, we made it. Somehow. The “Big Brother 22” finale is here after the most painfully dull season imaginable. Tuesday, the last full day in the house, was much ado about nothing except packing and Enzo Palumbo continuing to hold out hope that Cody Calafiore will take him to the end.

Poor guy. He still believes. Well, guess he has to. In his final late-night cam-talk, Enzo tried to justify his choice to keep Nicole Franzel in the triple eviction, arguing that he needed her to stay to win comps and be a target. He didn’t think David Alexander would win anything and would be an easy pawn everyone would want to take to the end. False! Memphis Garrett would’ve kept coming for him, bro. Enzo wanted Christmas Abbott to win the final five Hoh to take out Nicole, but it was “bad luck” that her pumpkin popped out.
