Rafael Medina Adalfio has made a lasting impact as a cinematographer, contributing to the independent cinema scenes of Europe and New York City. As a film director, his work is distinguished by a lens that captures the pulsating reality, breathing, vibrating, and hitting you.
Before settling in New York, Rafael began his journey in Venezuela apprenticed to the legendary photographer Oswaldo Blanco with whom he learned traditional black & white image-making. He honed his technical and creative skill in U.K. whilst studying the at the London Film School and was mentored by the renowned English cinematographer Oliver Stapleton where he was mentored by the renowned English cinematographer, Oliver Stapleton who aided in the transition from student to a working professional.
In most recent years, Rafael passion for his native country, Venezuela, has compelled him to develop a high-tension feature-length film about one of the largest power blackouts in history, and to produce a documentary film showcasing the herculean effort put forth by those engaged in agriculture in the Venezuelan Andes.
