Once described as having "the charm of a southern belle with a city slicker's sensibilities," Icy Chevell White is an established costume professional who has contributed to dozens of film, television, and commercial projects.
Since entering the industry more than a decade ago, Icy has brought her keen eye and collaborative nature to iconic projects including Coming 2 America, Just Mercy, and the soon-to-be-released, They Cloned Tyrone-starring John Boyega and Jamie Foxx.
An HBCU graduate, White studied mass communications in college, but eventually found herself drawn to the film industry. Icy's tenacity allowed her to work her way up from a production assistant to a budding costume designer. She has a demonstrated passion for understanding the narrative of a project and developing and executing the all-important costume vision.
In 2021 Icy realized a long-held goal of making her costume designer debut for the Amazon Studios film, Emergency which premiered at Sundance in 2022. White prides herself on valuing the vision of the director and creating a strong collaborative relationship across departments to exceed expectations.
Icy has learned at the feet of some of the greats in costume design including: Francine Jamison-Tanchuck, Sharen Davis, and Ruth E. Carter. In her most recent role, Icy was the Assistant Costume Designer for the highly-anticipated re-adaptation of The Color Purple. Icy White is a voting member of the Television Academy, BWFN, & WIFTA.
Icy lives in her native Atlanta with her husband Chris, young daughter Savvy, and beloved Pug-Poe.
