'High Maintenance' Creator Developing Prison Musical Film (Exclusive)

New Regency and Fox Searchlight have teamed to pick up an untitled prison dance movie from Ben Sinclair, the co-creator of HBO's <em>High Maintenance</em>, and cannabis journalist Abdullah Saeed.

Sinclair and Saeed will write the film, with Sinclair also set to direct. The duo, along with New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, will also produce the project. Fox Searchlight will distribute.

Details for the project are being kept behind bars.

HBO will keep living the high life. The High Maintenance TV show has been renewed for a third season on HBO. The early renewal comes halfway into the 10-episode second season. Although they put out a press release, Deadline has confirmed the season three renewal. An HBO TV series from creators Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair, High Maintenancestars Sinclair as a nameless Brooklyn weed delivery person, known only as “The Guy.” Each episode of cannabis-laced comedy-drama features a new set of customers, from whom “The Guy” gets a different glimpse of Big Apple living.
