Paper Girls: Stephany Folsom Out as Co-Showrunner of Comic Series
Paper Girls developer and executive producer Stephany Folsom is no longer serving as co-showrunner of the Amazon series, leaving Christopher C. Roger in charge, our sister site Deadline reported Saturday.

Though the comic book adaptation is currently filming, production reportedly is not impacted by Folsom’s exit.

‘Paper Girls’: Co-Showrunner Stephany Folsom Exits Amazon Series
Exclusive: Paper Girls developer and executive producer Stephany Folsom has stepped down as co-showrunner of the Amazon series, based on Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s graphic novel, which is currently filming.

Folsom will have no active participation in the series going forward with co-showrunner Christopher C. Rogers becoming the solo showrunner. Production on Paper Girls, from by Amazon Studios, Legendary TV and Plan B, was not impacted. While Amazon Studios and Legendary TV opted to part ways with Folsom, her creative stamp will remain on the project which she shepherded for more than two years.

Amazon landed Paper Girls for development in a competitive situation in July 2019 with Toy Story 4 co-writer Folsom attached to pen the adaptation. Her scripts earned the project a series order last year.

Exclusive: Amazon’s Paper Girls, a series adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Cliff Chiang’s graphic novel of the same name, has added For All Mankind actor Nate Corddry to the cast.

Paper Girls follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world. As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate.

After the success of Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne’s fantasy show “Carnival Row,” Amazon has set its sights on another high-concept series from Legendary Television.

The streamer has issued a series order for “Lightyears,” an hourlong sci-fi-drama produced by Legendary, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

“Lightyears” hails from Holden Miller and “The Son” writer and “Into the Badlands” producer Daniel C. Connolly (pictured left). Argentinian director Juan José Campanella has been tapped to helm and executive produce the first two episodes.

Amazon Orders ‘Paper Girls’ Series Adapted From Brian K Vaughan’s Graphic Novels
Amazon Studios has ordered “Paper Girls,” a series based on the best-selling graphic novels written by “Lost” writer Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Cliff Chiang.

The series, which comes from Legendary Television in association with Plan B, was given a series commitment at Amazon last July. It comes as part of Vaughan’s multi-year overall deal with Legendary Entertainment.

“Paper Girls follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world.
