“The Talk” is going silent. CBS is ending the long-running daytime chat show, which will get an abbreviated final season (its 15th) this fall, before signing off for good with what it’s calling a “celebratory sendoff” in December.
Rumors of the show’s end have been swirling for months, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning. The news comes as CBS and the NAACP are developing a new daytime soap opera under their content partnership, “The Gates,” a partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. “The Gates,” which “follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community,” is seen as a potential replacement for “The Talk.”
In a joint statement, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios prexy David Stapf said, “’The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning...

With CBS in “accelerated development” on “The Gates,” which, if picked up to series, would become the network’s first new daytime soap opera since launching “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987, many in the entertainment industry have questioned what that means for “The Talk,” the daytime talk show that replaced the long-running drama series “As The World Turns,” which concluded its run after more than 54 years on the network in September 2010.
Currently in its 14th season, “The Talk” ranks as the third most watched daytime talk show, behind only ABC’s “The View” and syndicated talker “Live with Kelly and Mark.” Despite that, the show is currently down double digits among Total Viewers and the key Women 18-49 sales demographic, often ranking at the bottom half in both categories among all daytime broadcast shows and has remained CBS’ least-watched and lowest-rated daytime series overall since it premiered in October 2010.

The 2024 SAG Awards allegedly only ran 10 minutes over its two-hour time slot on Saturday, but it felt a whole lot longer.
Unlike most awards shows, the SAG Awards and other guild ceremonies award winners only in their respective disciplines, but that didn’t make the telecast more efficient or memorable in any way. While the room full of nominees and winners were endlessly thankful to their union and outside solidarity during the strikes, the telecast failed to sufficiently honor the talent on display in a worthy manner — that, too, on the show’s 30th anniversary.
And it was no ordinary SAG Awards year for another obvious reason: The telecast aired live on Netflix for the first time ever (including a pre-show hosted by Tan France and Elaine Welteroth). Netflix is one of the only streamers that doesn’t dabble in live TV, so teaming up with the SAG Awards was both surprising and smart.

[Warning: The below contains major spoilers for Project Runway All-Stars season finale.] Redemption was on the mind of designers taking part in Project Runway’s first-ever All-Stars season, which featured contestants from previous seasons of the Bravo show. During the milestone Season 20 finale, which aired Thursday, September 7, it came down to Bishme Cromartie, Brittany Allen, and Laurence Basse. For the last challenge, the final three were tasked with creating eight looks in eight days that really told the story of who they are in the fashion world. Along with mentor Christian Siriano, they had to impress judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth, plus designer Zac Posen and Billy Porter, the Pose star who is no stranger to any runway. As the show reached its climax, Bishme was named winner. The self-taught designer from season 17 earned $250,000, a mentorship with the Cfda (Council of Fashion Designers of America), a feature in Elle magazine, and six months of...

It all came down to this. “Project Runway” season 20 ended on Thursday night, September 7, by deciding which returning All-Star contestant would take home the grand prize. For the first time, the final challenge was a race against time: the three remaining designers had to create their eight-look collections in just eight days — so you could think of this like eight one-day challenges all in a row. No rest for the weary. Helping to decide the winner were guest judges Zac Posen and Billy Porter. What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. Scroll down to see who met those high standards and won their challenges every week in season 20, which was a special “All-Stars” edition of the series.

In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. The fan experience, taking place Oct. 14-16 at the Javits Center in New York City, is returning for the first time since its inaugural edition in 2019.
With over 140 “Bravolebrities” set to participate in over 60 live events, BravoCon will shine a spotlight on the network’s top series. The casts from multiple cities in “The Real Housewives” franchise will turn out en masse — with a notable absence of Lisa Rinna from the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” panel. Rinna, who’s had a difficult time on the current 12th season of “Beverly Hills” — both on screen, as she’s mourned the death of her mother, and on social media as the season has aired — participated in BravoCon in 2019, but as of yet won’t return this year. Nor will “Beverly Hills” cast member Diana Jenkins be on the panel, which includes Garcelle Beauvais, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Crystal Minkoff,...

Last time, on the 10th episode of “Project Runway” season 19, Shantall Lacayo became the season’s first back-to-back winner with her elegant reunion dress creation for Real Housewife of New York Luann de Lesseps. The win was her third overall, making her the winningest designer of the season, eclipsing Chasity Sereal and Kristina Kharlashkina‘s two wins each. Aaron Michael Steach and Coral Castillo are the only designers without a challenge win yet, despite Aaron placing in the high end six times so far. Bones Jones won the season’s first challenge, but has placed mostly “safe” for the remainder of the time.

On last week’s fifth episode of “Project Runway” season 19, the 12 remaining designers worked in pairs to create exciting looks for Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir to wear as commentators at the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics. As the clients, Tara and Johnny chose Anna and Bones as the winners for Anna’s stunning white beaded gown for Tara and a complementary look for Johnny created by Bones. They weren’t as jazzed by what Sabrina and Prajje assembled for them, and opted to send Sabrina home for her costumey interpretation of the assignment.

On last week’s third episode of “Project Runway” season 19, night descended in the studio as the designers created glamorous masquerade gowns for a “hauntingly chic” runway. Chasity Sereal came out on top in the challenge, lavishly praised by guest judge Taraji P. Henson for what she called “hot sex on a platter.” Kenneth Barlis didn’t fare so well, confusing the judges with a snake-inspired “Batman costume,” according to Nina Garcia.

Or did you think any of them were criminally underrated? Scroll down to see the losing looks, updating each week as the season progresses.

On last week’s second episode of “Project Runway” season 19, a “#Streetwear” challenge threw the design studio into chaos when Meg Ferguson became openly hostile to Kenneth Barlis over his request to switch models with him for cultural representation reasons. The verbal altercation escalated and reverberated throughout the studio, culminating in Meg’s decision to voluntarily leave the competition. Series judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell and Elaine Welteroth, joined by host and mentor Christian Siriano this season, all agreed that after Meg’s exit none of the other designers should be eliminated.
