Omari Hardwick (Power) and Trae Romano (Stargirl) are also on board. Matthew Loren Oates (Farewell Bender) wrote the script and is directing Xeno.
In the film, “a teenage girl befriends a terrifying alien that crash-lands in the desert near her home. As government agents close in, the girl protects her dangerous new companion while also dealing with her depressed mother and the mother’s abusive boyfriend.”
Kevin Hart, Bryan Smiley and Luke Kelly-Clyne will produce for Hartbeat, alongside Oates and Shana Marie, with Thai Randolph, Kevin Healey and Ty Walker exec producing for Hartbeat.

At one time, superhero shows like DC's Stargirl were essentially guaranteed to be renewed year after year. That's all changed now that Nexstar Media Group is purchasing a controlling interest in the network. Nexstar reportedly plans to focus on traditional network shows that have a more broad appeal, and that doesn't sound like DC's Stargirl. Will the show be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.

The CW is losing another show. “Stargirl,” the channel’s teen superhero drama, will conclude with its ongoing third season, IndieWire has confirmed.
The show, which airs on Wednesdays, premiered its third season in August. The final episode will now premiere on December 7.
The news comes shortly after The CW was acquired by station group Nexstar, in a deal that has been accompanied by several cancellations and endings for many of the network’s series. In May, ahead of the official deal, the channel canceled over half of its scripted programming lineup. Nexstar officially took control in October, with plans to retool the famously unprofitable channel to focus on acquired programming and cheaper original series. The change was accompanied by CEO Mark Pedowitz stepping down from his post after more than a decade at the channel.
Last week, the channel’s “Nancy Drew” announced it would conclude with its next season,...

“Stargirl” will come to an end at The CW with Season 3, Variety has confirmed.
The DC series is currently airing its third season, with the finale set to air on Dec. 7. This is the latest CW scripted series to announce it will come to an end following Nexstar’s completion of its acquisition of The CW in October. It was most recently announced that “Nancy Drew” would end with its fourth season, with both “The Flash” and “Riverdale” also coming to an end. The CW also canceled many of its scripted originals back in May.
“Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons,” said series creator and executive producer Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet,...

The episode starts 12 hours prior to the Gambler’s murder as he is moving into his new mobile home in Blue Valley. The town is not without a laundry list of suspects and on top of that list is Crusher as he is watching/stalking the Gambler as he moves into his new home. Despite picking up his...

What Happened This Week
Stargirl is finally back and based on the CW being sold to a new company, this might be the last season of this wonderful series. We have some changes this year as the always funny Joel McHale is now a regular cast member and mentor to Courtney and after last season’s joining of forces to stop Eclipso, a majority of Stargirl’s enemies have stuck around in Blue Valley in an attempt to reform for their past actions.
Welcome to the Neighborhood
Stargirl starts with a bang by using Neil Diamond’s Coming to America song to introduce the new status quo for the series, as Stargirl’s former enemies are now her new neighbors in Blue Valley. Cindy, when not helping the elderly carry their groceries,...

There will be a new voice for Thunderbolt when DC’s Stargirl returns for its third season on The CW this fall, as prolific actor Seth Green is set to take over the role. As reported by TVLine, the Robot Chicken creator will be replacing Jim Gaffigan in the role of the mystical, wish-granting genie, which made his debut in Season 2. Green, known for his acting roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Austin Powers movies, has voiced characters in numerous shows, including Family Guy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. The character of Thunderbolt appeared in two episodes of the second season, including the finale, which saw the mysterious being help Mike (Trae Romano) and his friend Jakeem (Alkoya Brunson) in their fight against Eclipso, turning the big bad into literal toast. It’s not yet known how big...

What Happened This Week
We are at the halfway point of season two of Stargirl, but this episode felt more like a season finale than just a regular episode! Stargirl has been lacking in the action department all season, but this episode delivered an action scene that took up half the episode and truly delivered some compelling combat between our heroes and villains.
Mike’s Journey
Mike is at a crossroads with the Justice Society as his father doesn’t believe he can handle being a superhero (and he doesn’t have any super powers) but he is intelligent and with Zeke’s help, could become the inventor on the team. Pat is being a father first though and won’t let Mike work on anything dangerous, hence the reason he...

What Happened This Week
It’s getting closer to Halloween, and it looks like Stargirl jumped into the theme of the season as this week’s episode is more horror than family friendly. The Justice Society fight their biggest fears, Eclipso finds a new host this week, and we actually get a tease of what this demon looks like. Spoilers, he looks like Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, Venom.
Eclipso’s Reveal
The episode starts 10 years ago when a young Cindy awakes from her sleep due to a nightmare where her father finds her and attempts to “change” her. Luckily it was only a dream as her mother tells her that they are safe and will not be found by Cindy’s father. Way to jinx that because once Cindy’s mother leaves the room,...

What Happened This Week
Stargirl takes a step back this week from their light-hearted storylines to focus on this season’s villains. It’s a nice change of pace episode as this is the first time all season the series doesn’t focus on the Jsa and Courtney, allowing the strong cast an opportunity to shine.
Who is Eclipso?
Courtney, after overhearing her mother and Pat talking about Eclipso possibly being in Blue Valley, offers to charge headfirst into a fight with the villain. Pat warns her that Eclipso is not a typical villain and is nothing less than the “devil in the shadows.” Eclipso’s power isn’t physical, it’s psychological as he can manipulate people into doing his evil deeds. Eclipso basically feeds his victims’ minds with bad...

What Happened This Week
The third episode of Stargirl switches out team members as Green Lantern is…somewhere, so Pat’s son, Mike, hast a tryout as a member of the Justice Society, thanks to a mystical genie. Mike is a vastly underutilized character in Stargirl so having an episode that provides more background into him as well as gives him a chance to shine is a welcomed surprise.
A Genie Named Thunderbolt
We start with a flashback to Christmas 2010, as originally shown in the pilot episode, but this time instead of showing the fight between the Jsa and Isa, the flashback focuses on Johnny Thunder (Ethan Embry) and Pat in the garage of the Jsa headquarters. While Johnny has control of Thunderbolt, an entity more powerful than most of the Jsa,...

What Happened This Week
Stargirl is only two episodes into the second season, but it still is continuing it’s streak of being one of the most fun shows on television. This week is no different as we learn more about the new Green Lantern, Cindy begins to lose control over Eclipso, and Courtney finally realizes the true calling of Stargirl.
Green Lantern’s Light
The episode picks up right after last week’s fight as Courtney and Jennie call a truce to their disagreement. Standing in the kitchen, Jennie explains she was in an orphanage until recently being kicked out due to turning 18 years old. The only thing she received from the orphanage is a box from her brother, which contains Green Lantern’s (her father’s) ring. As soon as Jennie opens the box,...

Stargirl has been away for almost a whole year and while it’s great to have this family-friendly series back, the first episode was more a “table setting” episode than anything else. There was very limited action, but it does setup and provide a good tease for what the rest of the season will look like while also introducing a few new characters to an already strong cast.
What Happened This Week The Calm Before the Storm
Much to Courtney’s chagrin, there isn’t much going on in Blue Valley now that the Justice Society of America (Jsa) saved the day and stopped the Injustice Society (Isa) in the season finale. Despite having the Jsa conduct a sweep of the town every night, there just isn’t any villains or...
