Patrick Stewart to Detail Childhood, Acting Career in Upcoming Memoir
With Hollywood at a Covid-19 standstill, Patrick Stewart will fill his newfound free time by penning his first autobiography, publishers Gallery Books announced Wednesday.

The still-untitled memoir will detail Stewart’s his childhood in Yorkshire, England, “marked by poverty and domestic violence,” as well as his decades on the British stage before becoming a fixture to American audiences with the roles of Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Next Generation and Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men film series.

Carl Reiner, Comedy Legend and ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ Creator, Dies at 98
Carl Reiner, the writer, producer, director and actor who was part of Sid Caesar’s legendary team and went on to create “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and direct several hit films, has died. He was 98.

He died of natural causes on Monday night at his home in Beverly Hills, his assistant Judy Nagy confirmed to Variety.

Reiner, the father of filmmaker and activist Rob Reiner, was the winner of nine Emmy awards, including five for “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” His most popular films as a director included “Oh God,” starring George Burns, in 1977; “The Jerk,” with Steve Martin,

Anne Hathaway Says Christopher Nolan Bans Chairs on Set: ‘If They’re Sitting, They’re Not Working’
Anne Hathaway let slip an interesting tidbit about director Christopher Nolan: Apparently no one is allowed to sit down on his sets.

Speaking during Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series, Hathaway and fellow Nolan alum Hugh Jackman were talking about working with the secretive director when Hathaway revealed that along with banning cell phones, Nolan has also banned the use of chairs on his movie sets. “Chris also doesn’t allow chairs. I worked with him twice. He doesn’t allow chairs, and his reasoning is, if you have chairs, people will sit, and if they’re sitting, they’re not working,” said Hathaway.

“I mean, he has these incredible movies in terms of scope and ambition and technical prowess and emotion. It always arrives at the end under schedule and under budget. I think he’s onto something with the chair thing,” added Hathaway.

Linda Cristal, the Golden Globe-winning actress who portrayed Victoria Cannon, the wife of Leif Erickson's character, on the 1967-71 NBC Western The High Chaparral, has died. She was 89.

Cristal died Saturday at her home in Beverly Hills, her son Jordan Wexler told The New York Times.
