‘Nomadland’ Wins Best Film As Anthony Hopkins Surprises At 2021 BAFTA Awards
Is there room for upsets at the Oscars? That depends on how you categorize an upset. In theory, Chadwick Boseman is still the locked frontrunner to take the Best Actor prize at the Academy Awards in two weeks, but Anthony Hopkins pulled off something of a surprise winning the equivalent honor at the 2021 BAFTA Awards. Does that put Boseman’s posthumous honor from the Oscars in doubt? Unlikely.

Among the other awards, “Nomadland” took four honors including Best Film, Best Director (Chloe Zhao), Leading Actress (Frances McDormand), and Cinematography (Joshua James Richards).
